  1. With Afghanistan and, particularly with Helmand. I feel we need British voiced JTAC and the call sign widow, which seems to have been almost universal JTAC callsign for the British in Afghanistan.
  2. I tried to find a nice place to do some CAS. Placing some vehicles at various places on the map. In villages and towns. And after 10 minutes of doing this I found 1 place that looked nice. There were other places. But they had airfields. And so feel kinda odd taking off from one air field to drop bombs right next to another airfield. Those places that didn't have airfields were some buildings or towns. In decent quality, but surrounded by terrible flat low quality textures.
  3. Cold war trouble. Norwegian F86s fight Soviet MiG15s over Norway. Causing a potential flash point for WW3.
  4. Which is good news for Kola. Hope to see the same level of quality there after a while
  5. See my previous reply. Nobody decides to play or not play DCS because of a save game feature. If they think modules are to expensive, they simply don't play DCS. If they think the game is too complex they simply won't play DCS. If they start to play DCS, then mabye after several months to several years they'll miss a saved game feature. But it won't stop them playing. We've already gone though several games that don't have it, including the majority of Flight sims. It's obviously not the easiest or most necessary since DCS and other flight sims are doing fine without it. If it was easy ED would have added it long ago.
  6. It's an obstacle for those that has already invented lots of time to get into the game. New DCS players have way too many other things to get into an learn. To even think about "does this game have a save feature " it's way way down on the list of important things for new players. DCS will be better with a save feature, which is why they are adding it. But you make it sound like. 1. It's super easy to add 2. It's incredibly important. It's none of those things. It's one of many things that will improve DCS when it comes. But has very little effect on getting new players into DCS or keeping old players playing. It a quality of life feature.
  7. I've never heard anyone say. They don't play DCS because of lack of save feature. The usual reasons are, 1. Expensive, both the module themselves and/or hardware equipment 2. Overly complex 3. Doesn't have the aircraft they want. As well as various silly reasons like it's a Russian company, or they are evil in one way or another. Never seen anyone say lack of save game feature is stopping them from playing DCS.
  8. Excellent, there are definitely some units that take too much damage, like the previous mentioned uboat, but also the 3 other ww2 ships in the game. Also some stuff like ww2 AT guns, I assume if you just want them to take less punishment You just add "at mission start" and add UNIT AI SET LIFE. No need for anything else?
  9. What does "UNIT AI SET LIFE" Does it what it sounds like. You can specify how much "health/life" an AI unit has? I'm asking as this sounds interesting, as some units have way too much health (like the German uboat that can take several 500lb bombs )
  10. Do you mean the lack of conifers? It's related to preformance. But they have added more conifers to Kola.
  11. I'm guessing it's because it will be released together with however many other new infantry models they are making.
  12. Absolutely not. Both take place on small areas with limited number of units. Madden is very simple game. While in F1, it's the cars that are complex. But still few in numbers. Compare that to hundreds of complex aircraft. Over vast areas(destructable areas) that can fire hundreds of missiles and fire tens of thousands of bullets. And that just some of the stuff a DCS save had to keep track of. Some simple humans on a 100 meter field is nothing to that. Nor is 2 dozen cars on a small track.
  13. Obviously you're gonna make the imagines 3d. Neither Kola or SA are flat. Nor is that other sim flat. So high resolution satellite imagines are of course not gonna be flat. Why ED decided to just add flat textures, you'll have to take up with them.
  14. Either go back to hand crafted or massively improve the satellite imaging resolution. (Which according to Orbx needs to be an ED core update)
  15. Probably turned on camera blur.
  16. Every single DCS user could write a novel about ED prioritising the wrong thing. I have dozens of posts on this forum doing just that, lack of priory on ww2, lack of priory om ground and ship AI particularly their accuracy (something many others have asked for and after 5+ years ED has indeed started to work on that) lack of fleshed out AI assets and infantry (again something ED might now be working on) I could go on for hours about what i feel ED, should prioritise. I would love save game ability, particularly for those long ww2 missions that are in Reflected's campaigns. Especially now that I have a vr headset the runs in batteries. Except for campaign missions, most play relatively short mission, (sub 1 hour) we see this in the other sims to. If their mission goes past 45 minutes they are less interested.
  17. I literally said, it's not impossible, just quite complicated, and comparing a flight sim with far more moving parts than your average games makes it sound much simpler than it is. If it had been that simple then DCS would have had a save feature long ago? And so would other flight sims.
  18. Because if you are fighting through a corridor in your standard game or even an rgp. Everything is static. Very litter dynamic differences, bad guys are always more or less the same place. In a flight simulator you can have hundreds or thousands of units all moving and reacting dynamically. It's like saying because a tricycle is easy to make, therfore the lunar rover is easy to make.
  19. Many games have, very few flightsims have a save feature. It's not impossible, but probably quite complicated, give all the thousands of moving parts that must tracked and saved.
  20. British used their Chinnocks in Afghanistan as troop transports for all their missions long and short. Even if it was just a 10 minute hop in a helicopter, they'd used the hook. Also medivac.
  21. Scaling the explosions better would help too. Rocket explosions (especially the ww2 rockets) are too big. While 1000lb and 2000lb bomb explosions are too small.
  22. A full moon dogfight over snowy Norway. 1 F-16 with with AIM-9L/Ms vs 3 MiG21s with R60 Ms It's very nice of the AI to flare like crazy so they are easier to spot in the half darkness.
  23. So it's nice to have civ traffic on, in the cities, so they don't look so empty, but it looks really stupid when they just drive straight through a roadblock you've setup. Is there a trigger where any civ vehicle that goes into a trigger zone just disappears?
