VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack I’m having a problem where I can’t change the airport that I’m talking to. This is with Easy Comms Off. I’ve tried both Instant Switch, and using the “(Airport) Switch.” commands and none seem to be working. The only reply I get is from the airfield I started from, this happens even after I changed the radio frequency to the second airport. Does anyone else have this problem?

There’s a reason every Russian SAM after the SA-3 was designed to be mobile. A competent SAM commander would move his launchers around, put up decoys, etc. anything but keep his SAMs stationary and exposed in the open.

a2a Gun accuracy AA pipper is never going to be sniper accurate against a maneuvering target. The proper technique is to pull the bandit through the pipper while holding down the trigger, then relax back pressure a bit and let him fly through the pipper again. Basically hose him up and down and you’ll get the hits you need.

OK, I'm going to put my ego down and ask Easier fix: if you have a TGP equipped, then turn off the power to the DMT. Then when you depress TDC action it does not throw you into the DMT mode.

Is the BRC reported as magnetic or true heading?

Maybe they were too close to real life performance and the DOD made them downgrade it. You don’t want to be charged with exporting Tomcat simulators to the Iranians.

Anti-skid can malfunction and cause the brakes to automatically release. Not a good thing when taxiing around the boat.

Radar scope "zooms" but ASL does not adjust to fit
bear.is.flying replied to Pikey's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don’t believe the Hornet’s B-scope stretches horizontally when you decrease the radar sweep angle. Looks like you found a bug with the BRA indicator on the radar display though! -

If the mission designer didn’t do it, make a manual waypoint instead.

Spotting & Long distance rendering.
bear.is.flying replied to Jarlerus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes you are correct there. I’m assuming most people don’t play zoomed in that far all the time. A compromise would be to render the airplanes the size they would be if you were zoomed in 1:1 no matter what your current zoom level is. However, that would look highly unnatural and some sort of compromise scaling is needed. -
Spotting & Long distance rendering.
bear.is.flying replied to Jarlerus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The issue is “true size” rendering is only accurate if your monitor is as large as your actual visual field. That’s why we need some help unless you’re literally playing on a full sized dome projector. -

Add in some a reverse scaling of of dot size based on zoom value - i.e. scale up the dots / sprites so they are visible at standard zoom values, and make them shrink down to “actual size” at max zoom. This way players have a balance of detection ability, while still being able to visually guesstimate range when zoomed in. -
Bullseye and UH-1 Use the F10 map, or call AWACS.

Another aspect to this problem discovered! If I do not include (or comment out) the line: UIMainView = Viewports.Center In my MonitorSetup lua file, then the F10 map appears normal. HOWEVER! When that line is deleted, the SHADOWS in the 3d world (both cockpit and F2 view) slide and move around with both zooming and looking around. This occurs with Shadow Settings on Medium or High, and with Terrain Shadows on Flat or Default. MFD2.lua

Is the previous 8 mile laser limitation also fixed?

Have you tried to decrease the X or Y saturation under axis settings?

Its all about commonality. USMC used Lightning II on their Harriers and they want to use it for their Hornets to simplify supply chain. The USN uses ATFLIR and they want the USMC to use it as well so they don’t need to stock two types of pods on their carriers.

Counter measure dispense switch programs Also the big red DISP button on the left cockpit wall runs program 6. If you bind that to a HOTAS command, you instantly have access to three different countermeasure programs
-
You have to re-bind all your controls if you place the TM Warthog grip on the T-50 base. The reason is the buttons have different DX numbers compared to those on the original Warthog grip.

Modern-aircraft DCS pilots: What do you prefer over the older aircraft?
bear.is.flying replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS 2.9
Modern 4th generation fighters have increased maneuverability in the WVR arena and that opens up a whole world of BFM tactics that just are not available to earlier fighters. Propeller fighters and the early generation jets were very thrust limited (T/W ratios << 1.0) and that limited their options significantly. Tactical maneuvers in the vertical plane required storing up E ahead of time. In a basic offensive/defensive BFM scenario, the defending fighter had limited options to counter an attacker's vertical reposition due to his limited E following his defensive break. This leads to a bounce - zoom - bounce - zoom sequence that grants near-immunity for the attacker as long as he kills or separates before bleeding off his initial E advantage. A proper fourth generation fighter can retain vertical maneuvering capability due to its higher T/W ratio even after a defensive break turn. A vertical zoom or High Yo-Yo is no longer a "get out of jail free" card for the attacker facing an impending flight path overshoot. The fourth generation defender can roll wings level, pull up into the vertical and convert a flight path overshoot into a vertical 3/9 overshoot and then into an ordinance opportunity. What would have worked in a P-51 vs. 109 or F-86 vs MiG 17 does NOT work in a F-15 vs. Su-27. This requires and rewards much sharper BFM skills and situational awareness from both parties.
