I think the resistance that it provides is absolutely fine. Also in the real aircraft, the fingerlifts are (usually) not needed to select AB. But the detent is a fairly simple part and 3D printing is a thing. Maybe you someone who is skilled at some 3D design software (i.e.: Fusion360)…maybe ask over at the Home Cockpit subforum.

Download and install the software from the MS store. There you should be able to set OXR as WMR runtime.
-
For the MT version the input string is not neccessary any more. Your specs are ok. Not stellar for VR, but they should not be the source of your problem either. Are you using the standalone version of DCS or the Steam version? Also I believe maybe you need to set OpenXR as your runtime. Do you have the „OpenXR Toolkit for Windows Mixed Reality“? It‘s on the Microsoft Store.
-
What exactly do you mean by that?
-
Just type „dcs“ in the search window usually bottom left in windows. Then you should find DCS repair there. Just execute that…choose the long repair just to be sure. So as I understand you, the single threaded version did not work either? And may I also ask about your other system specs? CPU? GPU?
-
@ex81 Ja…aber der OP sagte doch nun gerade, dass deutsch nicht seine Muttersprache ist.
-
Can you elaborate further? Are your TCN indications correct prior to the landing? Where did you land? What TCN was set? What is the allegedly wrong reading?
-
So to clearify: 2.9 had worked for you until the minipatch last week? Did you use the multithreaded version before? If not: Have you used OpenXR before? Have you tried DCS repair already? Do you have any mods installed?

Ok...one mystery after the other gets solved. the answer to my last question got answered in the QVFR thread. Now I remember that someone once posted a pic and reported some strange shimmer/artefacting when ASW kicked in. Unfortunately I can not find that anymore and can`t recall if there was a solution either. I have that as well now sometimes...it`s mainly when looking to the side.

Ha…nice, I was about to ask the same thing here. Will give that registry entry a try. Just wondering why I would have that reg entry….? -
What are the best VR headsets (for DCS) on the market right now?
Phantom711 replied to Buckeye23's topic in Virtual Reality
@Dangerzone DFR certainly can be an improvement, but it‘s not a holy grail. I just switched from a G2 to the Quest Pro yesterday. My G2 is about 18 month old, still with the old cable. It happened, that the G2 wouldn‘t connect, but that was rather rarely and unplugging the power briefly always solved the issue. Don‘t know about the v2 cable, but that even has a power button. Now I deliberately made the decision to trade the slightly higher res of the G2 for more edge to edge clearity and DFR. And still remain at a reasonable price. But that‘s my whole point, if you are new to VR, you simply can not know, which specs are important to you. The G2 would be a cheap and yet solid HMD to start off of. It’s also rather easy to set up. I would not have been able to set up the Quest Pro yesterday without the help from this forum. The question is not „what is the best headset?“ but „what is the best headset for you?“. The OP is not asking for a replacement, but for a first headset fir DCS. But sure…don‘t get it all wrong: I‘m not saying, the G2 is „the best headset“. -
What are the best VR headsets (for DCS) on the market right now?
Phantom711 replied to Buckeye23's topic in Virtual Reality
I don`t think there is that one definite answer to your question. If you are used to 2D, you must be ready to make some compromises with VR! You will have to tune down your DCS graphics settings....yes, even with a 4090. So instead of going for a Mercedes as a first car, go and get a Toyota instead! The HP Reverb G2 once was one of the go-to headsets for flightsims due to its (back then) high resolution. It probably still is one of the bread-and-butter headsets amongst DCS VR players...and they are pretty cheap now on ebay. I think this might be a good appoach for dipping your toe into the dark and muddy VR-waters. You will learn about different settings and tweaks and what they do. It will give you a baseline upon which you can build an educated opinion about what you like and what your priorities for a newer headset might be. -
@sze5003 Thanks for your help and patience. I got it running now....and I even got Quad view running. Only thing is, with quad view I get some unreadable white text at my lower left. I can not read it really since it jumps away as soon as I try to focus my eyes there. So it seems to be bound to eye tracking somehow. Anybody else has this? Can I get rid of it somehow? @mbucchia

Hi again... So I got my QP today and started setting it up, but I am at a loss here: What is that "Oculus Home" that people refer to and where one would use that Render Resolution slider? If I google it only "VR Home" comes up, but that seems to be for the Rift only? I thought maybe all that stuff is selected via the App on the cellphone, but doesn`t seem to be the case. During the setupp there was also no mentioning of a software download (other than the Meta App). When I am in the headset there is only some Horizon something, but could not find any other setup stuff. Why is all this always so ridiculously difficult.

Sorry if I sound a bit lazy, but this is a 22 page thread and it‘s kind off hard to keep track of what people suggest. Let alone those phases, where people start argueing with on another about what a certain setting actually does. What I find confusing in the first place is, that there seems to be a resolution setting in Oculus Home and then another one in the Oculus Tray tool. Also is ASW the same as Motion Reprojection? Won‘t that interfere with the MR setting in OXR Toolkit? Does one just turn it off in OXR toolkit and then ASW does its thing?
-
@sze5003 Thanks for the info.

Hi, I might get a Quest Pro tomorrow and I already try to read myself into as much information as possible as how to set it up. There is that video from a spanish guy on youtube (and mwaybe he is here as well) who states, hat one needs a MEta Developer Account in order to take advantage of mbucchias Quad view because the eye trcking would be a hidden feature of the QP. i don`t quite understand this, since DFR is an official feature of the QP on the Meta Website. Is this still correct?

Ähm…hab ich gerade den Raum gekrümmt und ’nen Zeitsprung gemacht, oder ist das Streaming gerade eine Stunde vorverlegt worden?
-
And as for your initial question: Yes, with MR off you will see stutters as soon as FPS drops below the native refresh rate. But this is not so much noticable as long as you just look mainly forward. As soon as you look at 3 or 9 o‘clock or there is fast lateral movement of another aircraft, it is very noticable. (My point of view)
-
Hard to tell, because there are too many variables, because I just recently upgraded to a 4090 (from 3080ti) and I also just started to try out the 60Hz. But since MR starts already when approaching the native resolution from above, it should actually not be noticable other than the artifacts, wobble etc…

What to expect after owning a WinWing product for 1 year
Phantom711 replied to Terminator357's topic in Winwing
Do YOU have marked data to support YOUR claim? You are just extrapolating from stories and youtube videos. Problem with that is, that it gives a distorted view because people who are content with their received product usually don‘t start a post or create a video about. Simply because that would make a pretty boring post/video. The usual bunch of reviews comes out shortly after release of the product. What else should one say 1 or 2 years after that, if everything just works as advertised. Maybe consider this the silent majority. You might be right about their customer service, but that might also have changed since they opened stores in areas outside China. Now technically those seem to be just warehouses, but they should still fall under the respective jurisdiction (i.e. EU law) with regard to warranty etc… EDIT: Owning 2 Orion 2 throttles (F-18 and F-16 grip), PTO, PTO2, MIP (VR version). No problems observed. -
Just for your info: HP G2 can run natively at 60Hz. The downside is, that there is some noticable flickering at the edges especially in very bright areas. Nevertheless I recently started to enjoy this mode, because just as you stated, as long as my system can provide enough FPS to stay above that (but would not be capable of staying at/above 90), the experience is nice and smooth. For the cases where it still drops below, I compensate with MR.
