@Panzerlang To be honest with you, you don‘t come along very nicely and reasonable in that conversation either. Since I could not find any reviews of the Crystal Super, I guess nobody has received one for that purpose yet. So why would he be pissed at Pimax? This makes even less sense, since he actually recommends the Pimax Crystal Light as the best VR headset (in the still affordable pricerange). He even mentions recent quality control issues with Pimax. So I would say, that this is still a very balanced POV. Bear in mind, that this is not an in-depth review of any of the headsets recommended in the video. At the end of the day, youtubers express their opinions(!) and everybody should be aware of that and build his/her own decision on not just a single review.

Firstly, the types of ATC that you will encounter in real life largely depends on the location and size of the airfield and whether you want to fly IFR or VFR. Small airfields might only have tower who clears you to taxi, gives you the IFR clearance and then also clears you for take-off. Likewise, there might or might not be a dedicated frequency for departure. The flow that you mentioned is not wrong though. However carrier ops is mostly „zip-lip“, so without any/much comms. At least for CASE 1 that is.

I havn‘t tried to replicate this, so my answer is probably just as vague as your question. One thing to remember is, that undesignate does not delete the target from the JDAM. So if the JDAM with the previously designated TOO is selected, this is still the target that you are currently going after until you designate a new one. The double negative throws me off here a little . So, were you or were you not able to designate another tgt? Sometimes I‘m not 100% sure either, what is going on, but usually either a TDC depress or cycling through the tracking modes solves the issue. Are you sure you were in the correct mode? There are two modes which you can cycle by a double tab on the NWS button. In one mode the TGP is on the velocity vector and on the other the TGP is pointing straight ahead and a few degrees (15?) down.

@Polo Yes absolutely. With gear down and flaps half or full the FCS behavior changes so that you can now trim to „on speed AOA“.

Check out the discort channel. The developer is very responsive. Maybe something is just in the wrong order in your Export.lua. Have you tried if it works in 2D?

I set up everything beforehand (in 2D prior entering VR) and put it to the Upload page. Then I start DCS in VR and when I press the I/P button (in the Hornet) it will load, even though you don‘t see the UI. Of course you will be able to see the UI on your desktop in VR…just not while you are in DCS.
-
DCS-DTC https://github.com/the-paid-actor/dcs-dtc Works pretty good. JDAM PP is still borked in this version but will be fixed in the next release. You will not see the UI in VR, but it still works.

@GrEaSeLiTeNiN I think it‘s not implausible behavior, just a bit of a pitfall. Again, JDAMs, and JSOWs probably even more so, are primarily designed to be used against stationary targets with well known coordinates. It‘s simply in the nature of DCS that the TOO mode is used more extensively because designating a tgt with the TGP is mor fun (and easier) than punching in coordinates.
-
@EFGross On my QuestPro, yesterday I had to unplug and then replug it again for it to be recognized. A minor annoyance but no big deal.
-
Did you box all 4 stations in the QTY setting before you designated the 4 targets? Then this happens. The designation will apply to all stations that are boxed, that‘s why all hit the last designated target.
-
Yes, you are almost there. So in short: Then step through each STA and select the other TOO (In your case it apparently was on TOO2 on the first drop, so switch to TOO1).
-
First of all, I agree with all of what Tholozor said. Also there is lots of outdated information out there, especially regarding ripple releasing JDAMs. Regarding your question: Tholozor has answered it already pretty much. But also think of the real life use case: JDAMs are primarily designed to strike stationary targets with known coordinates. That‘s what the PP missions are for. You usually don‘t fly to an enemy airfield and say „oh, I feel like bombing THAT shelter“. The TOO missions are for dynamic targets or CAS. Now how many targets at once do you expect to get on those types of missions really…?
-
Well, you are not entirely wrong I would say... But some thoughts though: The SUPER apparently has a better form factor than the Crystal/Crystal Light. It also has eye-tracking which the CL has not, so you will benefit even more from (Dynamic) Foveated Rendering and can probably run more aggressive settings than on a CL. You could probably undersample, hence not max out the native res, but it would still look very good.

Fair enough. But still, all you could do is climb, until the DUD cue is gone. Now you would at least know that the canister will dispense the submunition prior impact. But I still think one should have an idea of it before and calculate the timings. Thanks. Yeah, I‘m well aware of that, that‘s why I was specifically referring to the Mk20. The CBU-99 is definitely more user-friendly with the FMU-140.
-
@Muchocracker But it‘s not a DUD. It works perfectly fine if you use it correctly. It simply is the way that fuze works. It dispenses after a certain time. If you put in 20sec it dispenses 20sec after release. How would the computer account for that if you fly too low? Again…there is no option anywhere to set a dispense hight. It doesnt have any type of altimeter. https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/fuzes/mk-339-fuze Or do you mean you would get a DUD cue if the computer calculates, that the bomb would not have sufficient time to dispense before impact?
-
I don´t see how this would work. The Mk339 Mod1 is the only fuze that can be selected. In the fuze menu. It is a timed fuze and you have to select the time for the PRI and OPT fuze setting (function delay) on the ground (or mission editor). Once in the air, there are no other options to be set, like a burst hight. So I just did a quick test, where I flew significantly below my calculated altitude, had the tgt designated via ATFLIR and as expected, the Mk20 just impacted the ground without dispensing the submunitions. Of course, I had tested this before while adhering to the calculated parameters and the submunitions expanded on that one.nullnull
-
@The_Cokester Yes, and for the Mk20 it gets even trickier since it does not dispense based on altitude, but on „time after release“. So you need to know your altitude above the target prior the flight or adjust your altitude in flight accordingly. Then you need to do the math by yourself or find a website that calculates the time of fall of an object and then substract a couple of seconds from that for your desired dispense (like 2-5sec I would say).

I don‘t think this will provide a stable platform, no matter how heavy it may be…unless it would be inconveniently heavy. Check out something like this maybe: https://www.monster.tech/produkt/joystick-hotas-tischhalterung/ (Sorry, it came up in german for me, you can probably switch it to a language of your choice somehow)
-
@VirusAM I haven’t used my F-16 throttle for a while because…well you know…the Hornet… I think it‘s simply a matter of getting used to how to move it correctly. The directions will never really change in relation to your thumb no matter the throttle position.
