  1. DME also doesn't seem to do slant range. Not with carriers, anyway. How does the plane know the TACAN station elevation?
  2. I think some of you are confusing G limits with performance limits. TGP isn't automatically cat III, but it is G limited, if I'm reading correctly. Also, Falconeer, sound like you're a real life pilot? That's totally awesome and thanks for contributing. Now don't go getting yourself in trouble. That's what War Thunder forums are for!
  3. There is also a backwards one when you pull onto 17 at Beirut. The red sign says 17 - 35 but it should say 35 - 17.
  4. Well, now I'm even more confused. Also, it wanted me to be in cat3 with rocket pods (the single ones with 19 in them) on the inner wing pylons. IDK, I just ignored that one, lol.
  5. That would only make sense if you spawned in on the runway. Figures the third party module has another feature ED can't or won't implement.
  6. Wait, where are you getting that a centerline tank is cat 3? G restriction maybe, but does it shift the CG forward? As I understand it, the switch is there due to shift in CG cause by certain heavy stores on the wings. Especially the inner wing pylons. Especially full tanks on the inner wing pylons. Are you sure you're not confusing flight envelope restrictions with cat 1/3? And where is 2? Did someone murder 2?!
  7. You know what's really missing? Having a bindable axis for nvg gain. I have a whole extra axis I'm not even using on the Hornet on my X56 throttle.
  8. Calling it Iraq, when it's really just Baghdad is disingenuous and borderline false advertising. Like the Persian Gulf map. It's not. It's Dubai and Abu Dahbi and some other minor details. It should really be called UAE or Straight of Hormuz because that's the only part of the map that is filled in. Qatar and Oman are pretty significant parts of the PG and they are just not there and there seem to be no plans to include them. I kinda wish I could return it.
  9. I really like when I load into a hot start and the plane just starts accelerating across the apron. It doesn't sync the slider or brake switch unless I make sure to slide the throttle back and forth while loading. Also, why doesn't a hot start have wheel chocks or parking brake on? That's ridiculous. Hot start ground/ramp/parking spot/or maybe any hot start should still have parking brake on and ejection seat safe.
  10. The trim setting is also too hard to see in the controls window. The window itself is too small because the UI still seems like it was designed for Windows XP and 1024 and doesn't upscale with higher rez. It's also different than ever other control window. There's a crosshair the same color as the rest of the thing. Make every control window look like the A-4 mod control window. It's actually usable.
  11. There often isn't CZ available. Did I not just say I didn't even have a targeting pod attached? Why would NAV mode not provide steering cues to the steerpoint? That's ridiculous. Maybe it should but it doesn't. I just explained that is the problem. I only used the HUD to pick a target on the ground and could not reset the offset that then became built into every steerpoint while not in bombing mode. It was still there in gun strafe and Nav. TMS down on any SOI did not fix it. Nav mod with nothing designated did not fix it. Only switching back to a bombing mode like CCIP fixed it. Again, novel idea: the nav system in the jet works. Forget spaghetti code, you have mushy, overcooked ramen code.
  12. I'm not sure that did anything for me. 4070 with a 1440p 27" 144Hz monitor. My graphics card did get pretty hot just now. That may have been lint + MSI Afterburner, idk. So yeah, plenty of ghosting and blur. It may have help with more sudden screen changes? Like punching numbers into the DED in the 16 seems to have less transition effect. Maybe.
  13. I find it disingenuous that the map is even called Persian Gulf when the UAE is basically the only part done in detail.
  14. At taxiways that intersect 09 - 27, the sign indicates the other way around. At least in 1 or 2 spots. Not a flipped texture; the actual sign is wrong. I can go get a screenshot if needed, but I'm on my phone now.
  15. Did something change with labels? They don't seem to come in as quickly or as far as they used to. Is it based on something deciding whether or not I have spotted the object? Stuff is really hard to spot in this game, especially on the ground. 1440p monitor, not VR.
  16. Haha. Sometimes an O4 has to get out from behind the desk and show how it's done, I guess. Oh wait, that reminds me: don't USMC pilots sometimes serve as JTACs? Marines gotta Marine.
  17. Wild idea: Nav mode and steerpoint changes cause the planes steering cues to navigate to the steerpoint. Surely you don't need a publication from the DoD for this.
  18. All of these conflicts seem like they're being caused by people not using any kind of author prefix in their classnames therefore creating redundant classes that conflict with each other. You should know better by now.
  19. USE AUTHOR INITIALS AS PREFIXES IN CLASS NAMES
  20. The TGP seems very "sticky". In other words, when changing waypoints, even with the TGP in standby because a jettison switched the plane out of AG mode (and therefore the TGP into standby) the steering info is often incorrect when the waypoint is then changed. It still points to...somewhere. maybe where the TGP was last locked, but I think it's closer to where the TGP was looking right before it completely stows itself. I'll try to get a track. It's really frustrating that the plane, especially when in NAV, doesn't navigate to where it should. It's getting old constantly triple checking that I'm headed in the right direction. It seems like something has always been super weird with the F-16 and steering cues. And CZ or TMS down doesn't seem to be available in standby, so I have to switch the airplane, or at least the pod, back to AG and do a TMS down with the TGP screen as SOI to make sure I'm headed remotely in the right direction. I could be misremembering a little but it definitely has always been frustrating and it some ways, it seems to have gotten worse. Shouldn't switching to NAV via push button or stores jettison give me, ya know, proper navigation (again, the TGP is set to standby in NAV mode)? Maybe check the code and make sure SPIs are deselected when entering NAV?
  21. Common sense alone would dictate that. Although this is primarily the US military we're talking about so HAH! Even disregarding common sense, a pilot or WSO in the USAF is an officer and a JTAC/TACP on the ground is usually an enlisted MOS. If an officer is calling in an airstrike themselves something has really gone badly on the ground. What this means at the most basic sense is that usually the person actually pressing the weapon release button outranks the person asking for said weapon. Maybe some exceptions for different guns on the AC-130 but the weapons deployment would still at some level be controlled by an officer in the plane with the enlisted men loading and firing the gun and that officer may even have some kind of electronic authorize switch that is able to override the trigger on the guns. No idea on that last point, though. It just seems plausible. Sorry I don't have any sources to cite, but I bet if you looked at an official Airforce careers website you'd clearly see that pilots and WSOs are officer MOSs and TACP or CCT are enlisted MOSs.
  22. There aren't really TOO and PP modes in our F-16. The bomb will go to wherever your SPI is. How you get that is up to you. I actually like how much more straight forward it is than the Hornet.
  23. Nope, that was a controls assignment bug on my part. Connecting my replacement throttle did all kinds of weirdness because of the different device ID. And I didn't even assign that button to the throttle.
  24. Of course that was it Ran with nothing but SRS. Now I have to figure out what it was.
  25. I will try, but I don't think that's it. There's plenty of errors in paid modules too. Ones I didn't even have. It just can't load the map and then crashes. It seems to only be in multiplayer. dcs.log-20231227-200259.zip
