You are correct. No. Far from that. Don't buy any of the official Meta accesories. Look for third party ones. I've been using a $15 generic USB-C cable for the last two years, zero problems. For alternative head straps there are decent ones that will not add much to the total cost. And the face gasket, for me, it's perfectly serviceable. Your mileage may vary.

This. The MiG-19 is not a serious offender. It might be a little too good compared to the real thing but it's manageable. 15 and 21 are out of this world, and I would add the F-5 too. Another serious issue with AI planes is their perfect control at near stall speeds. Try this with the Mirage F1, for example. It can keep its nose pointed at will at 200kts, while you flying the plane in the same situation would drop like a brick.

So you're dropping your realism standards only to make a module that will be completely out of place in DCS, as every red asset it's going against is 20+ years older. If you can pull data out of your posterior to make the F-35, you can surely do the same with the Su-57, F-22, Su-30SM, J-20 and others. Right?

Q: Any plans for more contemporary (2010s) AI opponents? (F-35A)
diego999 replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I hope so. Abusing redfor planes 3 decades older is going to get boring fast. -
Even if it works, I don't think your GPU hallucinating most of the frames will make for a pleasant experience in VR.

Better ask again when the 5090 is eventually released and benchmarks appear. It can be fantastic, a failure or just meh. Nobody knows for now.

Maybe in 40 years when all the tech it uses is no longer classified.

No hot swap between 2D and VR. No ability to reconnect the headset. No saving during mission feature. DCS is seriously lacking in this regard.
-
They're repeating the 4000 series launch: "Up to 200% gains in performance over the 3000 series cards" * * but only when using some new bs AI tech that will make image quality worse and we won't allow in older cards so you can't directly compare

Best VR Headset (upgrade from Reverb G2)?
diego999 replied to Raketenfrosch's topic in Virtual Reality
I've been using a Quest 3 for almost a year. No issues so far and I'm very satisfied. It's a solid headset for the price. I tried Virtual Desktop but I can't match the visual quality of the link cable. Having the Q3 plugged while you play has the additional advantage of conserving battery (mine never goes below 80%) and this is using a generic $15 cable. No expensive Meta cable, no powered USB port, nothing. -
Are large monitors still relevant?

VR is amazing, but it's not for everyone. You should try before making a decision. -
Performance issue after looking the F10 map
diego999 replied to Colos1357's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Pretty much this. Will try the mod you mention. Thanks. -
It can be used in fixed mode. If your CPU can take it, it's a great tool to gain performance.

Soviet missions/campaigns for DCS Afghanistan
diego999 replied to Wizz's topic in Missions and Campaigns
How this map doesn't have soviet presence to simulate the Afghan-Soviet war is absurd. Same as Iraq not having iranian bases for some Iran-Iraq conflict missions. A map with a rich history and lots of possibilities reduced to bombing some insurgents in a Toyota. Come on. -
There is a category or early warning radars for what you're trying to do. All these can perform the task you want.
-
It does nothing in my case. FPS seem to be limited by the headset, as long as you set the limiter above the native framerate you're using in VR (72 or 90 in most cases).
-
Quest 3 is the logical choice. It's a solid headset with a decent price which will be supported for several years.

Quest 3 in-headset viewing expectation versus what is achievable
diego999 replied to MurrayCod's topic in Virtual Reality
A Q3 will never look as good and sharp as a monitor. You're trading visual quality for immersion. -
Place your airplane over the airport you want to start from and select "takeoff from runway" on the right panel "TYPE" menu. If you want a cold start from the parking slot, select "takeoff from ramp" in the same menu. "takeoff from parking hot" does the same but the aircraft is already powered on and ready to go. In these cases you get an additional option to choose your parking spot.

Is the texture resolution increased by 400%?
diego999 replied to LucShep's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Put 10 of these side to side in an airfield and you'll be looking at (very beautiful) single digit FPS. Screenshot simulator as you said. -
I'd go for a 4070ti Super, those 16GB of VRAM look juicy for VR and you won't need a more porwerful PSU, but I think you should start considering a new PC entirely if you play in VR. I don't know if a 5950 (or a 5800x3d) are worth the upgrade. To know where the bottleneck is you should look at frametimes, not some online tool. I don't know what you're using but Open XR Toolkit or Oculus Tray Tool can show CPU and GPU frametimes in the headset while you're playing.
