PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Miles Vorkosigan replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Course it is bugging him. He has started to drink. Heavily. Hanging out with undesirables, stealing cars (mostly Honda Elements, cause he likes the headroom and the rubber floors which are surprisingly dog friendly) and burgalizing burgalable burgs to come up with money to pay for his drinking habit. Chocolate milk is not cheap you know.- 3421 replies

At one time I mounted some small Dayton Audio pucks to the bottom of my controllers. They worked pretty well in the setup that I had at that time. Since I did not have a full simpit it was good to feel the feedback on the controllers themselves. Now I like the feedback on the simpit instead. Never harmed my controllers, not sure why it would.

Hi Lurkingbadger, here is one using vecflak and addtgt created by a squadron pilot for us in our Sunday co-ops. For our Vietnam War server I am using fill because I cannot get vecflak and addtgt to work with the much more complex (stuff I screwed up) multiplayer server mission. Something I am doing wrong but I cannot figure it out. So I know both ways works. Operation Linebacker II - Mission 2 - Radio Silence - MP 0.11.miz

Did you ever get this figured out? I am interested in adding formations of B52s to our Vietnam War server. -
Not for the current release version.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Miles Vorkosigan replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, I use the MFDs for F1, F2, F10, Kneeboard/+/- etc. Pretty much anything that is not in the cockpit is on the MFDs, mostly system buttons. I use buttons on the Warthog for gear, engine start (Home Key) that kind of stuff. But if I can click on it in the cockpit I use my finger lasers. Course, I do have four more MFDs on a shelf.- 3421 replies

No, but they are a really good deal. I have the Thrustmaster Warthog with a Thrustmaster Cougar on an extension above the Warthog throttle and two Thrustmaster MDFs mounted on the sides. More than plenty of buttons even in VR.- 3421 replies

I can't argue against that. We had our group co-op flight on Sunday and three out of the eight pilots lost sound. I have lost sound twice since my last post here. The only way to get it back is to get a new Sabre.

Email message notification 5 days late
Miles Vorkosigan replied to Taz1004's topic in Forum and Site Issues
None are instant, most are days late and others are repeats of previous messages? Very odd behavior. The forums do not show posts that I have made in the last several days (according to "My Recent Posts") -
PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Miles Vorkosigan replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The other day I climbed into the pit (yeah...really do have to climb into my simpit), fired up the Sabre and took it for a spin. Kept waving my arms around trying to click the freakin' battery toggle...then I realized that I had forgotten to put on my finger lasers. Seriously though, I could not fly without them anymore.- 3421 replies

As Tundra mentioned: Smaller size which helps with some stick configurations. Also: USB micro charging port, charging indicator, smaller battery. I have the V1, FREAK'IN AWESOME- 3421 replies

Just included this for our public Vietnam War server. I did not want to restrict pilots who did not have the WWII assets pack. Now we have flak!! Thanks very much! Old thread/script but still working great :)
-
It would be really nice to not have to patiently explain to some pilots why our Korean War public server uses the Caucasus map... :D
-
This is still a thing.... Not going to bother to attach a track as the bug does not appear in the track. Last week we had seven pilots flying together and three lost in cockpit sound (external sound worked fine). The loss of sound occurred a different times. This happens weekly.

Early Cold War Co-ops F-86/A-4E-C/F-5E3/AJS-37
Miles Vorkosigan replied to Miles Vorkosigan's topic in Squadron News
New F-86 Sabre mission for tomorrow, no commitments just show up and fly. All ability levels welcome. Mission Brief for 19:00 UTC Sunday 27 Sept 2020 Syria 20 Aug 1957 --SITUATION-- Syrian Arab Army (SAA) units are massing along the southern border of Turkey. After yesterday's air strikes against Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SAADF) bases these units appear to be committing to a full ground invasion of Southern Turkey. We have intel that indicates that the SAA is deploying artillery launched limited yield nuclear weapons to the border. This could constitute a first strike scenario and engulf not only the middle east but eastern Europe as well. The United States and its ally Turkey can not and will not allow this to happen. --MISSION-- Turkish Air Force F-86s out of Incirlik air base will will search for, find and destroy the convoy carrying nuclear artillery armaments to the northern border between Syria and Turkey. The convoy is reported to be leaving Abu al-Duhur air base this morning at 0800 hours and traveling north thru Aleppo and then north west to the vicinity of Minakh air base. Minakh air base is too well defended to attack it directly. It has been decided that a strike along the convoy route will yield better results and we can be sure to destroy the artillery munitions. [1:44 PM] --ENEMEY DISPOSITION-- The route between Abu al-Duhur and Minakh is expected to be heavily protected by both 88mm and 40mm anti-aircraft artillery. Soviet built Mig-15s, and as you found out yesterday; Mig-19s are expected to be in the area flying combat air patrols and could scramble from bases deeper into Syria. The Mig-19s are armed with K-13A air to air missiles. These missiles are similar to the Gar-8 missiles that our own F-86s are armed with. The convoy itself will consist of SAA armored and soft targets. --NAVIGATION-- Takeoff is 0800. On takeoff take a heading of 110 for 82nm to Minakh air base [MGRS CA 24]. Turn on a heading of 171 for 21nm until over Aleppo [MGRS CA 30]. Aleppo Air Base has an ADF of 369 kHz Search along roads toward Aleppo. From Aleppo turn 178 for 26nm to the vicinity of Abu al-Duhur[MGRS CV36]. [1:44 PM] ---RULES OF ENGAGEMENT--- There are a lot of civilians moving on the ground, many fleeing from the fighting that is expected in the north. Make sure of your targets. All civilian aviation has been grounded in the region so if you see something in the air, shoot it down. I do not need to emphasis how important this mission is. If we fail to destroy our objectives the United States will have B52 bombers standing by the carpet bomb the entirety of the Syrian border in order to keep a world wide crisis from developing. ---ADMIN--- Strike – Discord Command – 252Mhz SRS -
Korea 1952 is a great PvP server, and Pmiceli is a good mission maker so I think his will be good. There is also a Korean War PvE server (mine).

We are not a group, no need to "join", just show up when you can/want to. No training required, beginners welcome. We fly co-op missions every Sunday at 19:00 UTC alternating between F-86F missions (Korean War using the Caucasus map and recently 1950s mission on the Syrian Map) and late 60s early 70s A-4E-C Skyhawk/F-5E3 Tiger II Vietnam War and Middle East conflicts. Some missions include Medevac/CSAR using the UH1-Huey Pilots are from all over the world, mostly US and Europe. Free A-4E-C Skyhawk flyable mod REQUIRED for 60s/70s missions. We have a core of 10 pilots who always show up with an additional 6-12 others who sometimes do. Some missions have been as large as 23 pilots but we are trying to keep it around 12. We use the Discord for the public Vietnam War and Korean War servers to post information and voice comms. https://discord.gg/M3U5fNX
