  1. Lowering the seat substantially helps a lot. As does approaching the basket from well below and to the left of it and then making a very slight move up and right as you close on it in the endgame. Unlike in the Hornet when you can get directly behind the basket and just fly straight into it. Good luck!
  2. Sorry, not to state the obvious, but are you tuning up the TACAN to the correct station? Or is the ship following EMCON procedures in this campaign?
  3. Here's the same issue with a section of Hornets... Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide to help resolve this. 2 x F18 AI refuel KC-135 MPRS broken short.mp4
  4. Thank you for your response Flappie. I made very simple missions with a section of fighters (both with the same fuel load of about 45%) trying to refuel off a KC-135MPRS to illustrate the issue. As you'll see, they both join up fine, but the issues with the plane on the right side begin almost immediately. He plugs multiple times, and sometimes the basket appears to go through his plane. The behavior is not normal and happens very frequently since updating to 2.9. 2 x F14 short refuel AI KC135MPRS.mp4 2 x F14 refuel broken KC-135 MPRS.trk 2 x F18 refuel broken KC-135 MPRS.trk
  5. I've noticed since the 2.9 release that in-flight refueling is not going well for AI aircraft. I've noticed this with the F-14 as well as the F-18 off both KC-135 MPRS and S-3B(T). I am able to plug without problem, but have noticed my AI wingman is now often jousting with the basket. In some instances, even after I command him to "hit the tanker" he simply continues to fly formation off the tanker and makes no attempt to refuel. This results in him taking much longer than normal, and in some cases, he never stops trying to refuel. I'm also noticing this with other AI aircraft that are not in my flight. Both day and night, regardless of skill level. This makes many missions that require in flight refueling unplayable. Below are some screenshots of the AI's refueling probe actually going through the basket. This would help explain why the refueling is taking so long (as reported elsewhere). Is anyone else noticing this? I'm playing with OB, on VR BTW.
  6. I'm having the same issue occasionally. Happens in the F14 and F18 modules for me, though not 100% of the time. I have easy comms selected, and the comm menu tree appears, but when I select the message to send, it doesn't go out. When this happens, tanking and managing the wingman/AIC are impossible.
  7. Exactly - I flew the Hornet back in the early 2000's. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to use the radar in an air-to-air mode (let alone STT) while in AG MASTER mode.
  8. Technique only of course, but I use NVG's until I am plugged in the basket at night. Not how it's done IRL, but effective in DCS...
  9. I'm seeing this as well, even from the KC-135 when refueling Navy aircraft. The other day my F-18 AI wingman took much longer than normal to refuel, and I even observed an F-14 that never fully refueled, essentially breaking the mission since no other aircraft were able to refuel. Here's a screenshot of an AI wingman jousting with the basket. Notice the probe protruding past the basket. This never happened before the 2.9 release. Anyone else seeing this?
  10. I'm seeing this occasionally now as well with my wingmen and AI aircraft as well. So far F-14 and F-18's, but I haven't looked at any others. I'll start a new thread under DCS bugs. This appears to be a new issue with 2.9 OB. Here's a screenshot. The wingman basically is jousting with the basket and takes forever to get fully fueled...You'll notice the probe is protruding through the basket. In one instance, a Tomcat never actually got fully refueled and essentially broke the mission...
  11. I recently upgraded to 2.9 OB and am noticing problems with both F-14 and F-18 modules. I always use easy comms (and have verified this is selected in the options menu) and it almost works initially, but then at some point during some mission, it simply stops. It allows me to bring up the menu, and work my way through the option tree, but when I select the transmission, it never goes out. This makes refueling impossible, as well as maintaining SA to the threat much harder since I can no longer request the picture from AIC. Anyone else having this problem?
  12. Did you update to 2.9 recently? If so, you'll need to redownload the updated skins and textures as described above. You'll see I had a similar problem.
  13. I'm not a cinematics expert by any stretch, but do enjoy a good go pro view from time to time. Previously, I could simply use the F4 view to place a camera anywhere on the aircraft, to include inside the cockpit. The F4 view seems to no longer allow placement inside the object itself - at least not for me. Is anyone else having this issue? As a workaround, I saw a video on modifing the View.lua file to essentially turn off the collision model, as I did below. However, even using the R CTRL F2 function with it set to false, I can not go inside the object. Any ideas welcomed. Thank you!
  14. Yes, looks like the latest update fixed it. I wonder what it broke...?
  15. Also make sure the TACAN is linked to the correct unit in the Mission Editor. You'll have to select the CVN 74 in the drop down for it to fully work. My problem is I can never seem to get it to work off a tanker...
  16. Looks like a new release of OB DCS 2.9 as of yesterday. The changelog mentions a number of changes to the S-3, but I did not see whether this issue was addressed. Has anyone had any luck? I'm having the same issue but am reluctant to download a new version so soon after its release.
  17. Yes! That was it! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me - if there's any way I can ever return the favor, please let me know. I spent a couple hours troubleshooting this, so the fact that you were able to diagnose my problem and suggest the solution that took me less than 5 minutes to implement....THANK YOU!
  18. Thanks Hawkeye60 - when you say if the "standard" skin works it's a livery issue - what is the "standard" skin you're referring to? It seems like this is important for troubleshooting purposes. I also don't understand what it means when you say the texture is not "declared" correctly. I downloaded the files that were posted in dropbox a few weeks ago (that I thought were developed to make the mod compatible with DCS 2.9.). This made me believe that others were having the same issue as me, but perhaps not?? Do you think something was corrupted during the installation process? Any other troubleshooting steps you can recommend? I was thinking to maybe start from scratch and download the aircraft files from the original post on this thread, but when I follow the hyper link, it takes me to a German website that has links for uploading files, but I did not see anything to download anything? Could you please confirm I'm in the right place? Again, thanks for all the work. It really is (or at least, was) an awesome mod. My flight deck wouldn't be the same without it!
  19. After reloading the texture files, I now have a different problem... I This is in VR. If you look closely, you can actually see the words "missing texture" on the outside of the Prowler/the jammer pods/canopy. Is this a texture or livery issue (or both). I have this airplane in a ton of my missions, and it REALLY detracts from the immersion factor to see this thing flying around. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to share the mission should anyone be interested!
  20. Running 2.9 and picking up the boat well over 100 miles out from 25,000 feet or so. It’s a line of sight system, so could be you’re not high enough?
  21. Thank you as always Draconus!
  22. Sorry, what is "Hot Fix"? I'm having issues. Without realizing that ED fixed the FOV problem with NVD's, I downloaded and installed a mod. This mod appears to be incompatible with DCS 2.9 in VR. Is there a way I can overwrite the modded files and replace them with the ED content? Would I have to reinstall the game?
  23. I I am not very computer savvy, but after spending a considerable amount of time to replace the existing Prowler skins and textures after updating to DCS 2.9 (multi thread, VR), since the existing ones were not compatible (aircraft was appearing as very dark - no livery or textures), I was able to get the aircraft to appear normally. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the ALQ-99 pods. Does anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong? My flow was: Download the zip file that is posted in this thread Decompress the zip files (liveries and texture folders) Copy and paste the contents of these new folders over the existing files in the existing folder (see below) Any help would be appreciated.
  24. Thank you both! Rudel_chw, you mentioned reverting to an earlier version. That sounds like it might be the simplest option - is there any information you could share with me on how to do that (e.g. perhaps a link to another thread)? Any considerations there in terms of losing campaign progress, aircraft mods, bindings, etc.?
  25. Awesome - I'll give it a shot!
