I’ve seen a YouTube review where this exact same behaviour was identified as being caused by excessive power draw of the x56 on USB ports. Solution is a quality usb 3.0 PCIe card or a powered USB hub.

I wanted to try the demo too but it is an early version of TOH and doesn't benefit from the flight model improvements implemented in recent patches. When Bohemia update the demo I'll give it a go.

Jumping from my HD5850 to the GTX670 pretty much doubled all my frame rates in BS, so I was a happy bunny about my purchase too. :)

4.2Ghz isn't really a massive overclock for his processor. He could make that without tweaking any voltages on a stock Intel cooler and 'Auto overclock' buttons are usually conservative in their settings. Still definitely worth downloading core temp to see what the temps are though. Running in a non-overclocked state would quickly isolate that it as the BSOD culprit.

A good board will have better capacitors giving better power regulation. This allows an overclocked PC to keep on trucking despite you pumping more voltage through it. Reliability is in my eyes what a more expensive board gives you. There is of course a tipping point of price/value (I never get the top of the line deluxe boards for example) but then I wouldn't buy the bottom of the line board either.

I'm trying to find the thread where I posted the FPS but I've upgraded from what you're running (Q9550) to an Ivy Bridge, 8Gb of RAM and an SSD. Really the difference is instead of a juddery ride its now smooth (this is BS2) and is much, much easier to fly. I never found low FPS such a problem in A10C so the difference hasn't been as marked. Probably worth mentioning that the SSD has dramatically reduced load times and the 8Gb RAM means alt tabbing is a snap and never get any noticeable texture loading when panning around the cockpit at mission start. I will say though that I wished I'd gone for a i5 2500k instead of an i5 3570k. I think the higher clock speeds (for a given temp) that the 2500k can reach would've been more beneficial. Probably bit late but id say if you were after a HD7950 0r 7970 you'd be better off with a GTX670. Much better price/performance/tech.

That's odd. DCS A10C runs far smoother for me than Black Shark 2 (if it is BS2 you're referring to). BS1 ran much smoother than BS2 for that matter as well.

Cockpit Displays 1024 HD5850 ----> GTX670 A/31 ----->62 B/29 ----->55 C/27 ----->54 D/25 ----->49 System specs in sig. I think I'm GPU limited. [Edit] Have upgraded to a GTX670...new FPS in Bold. Average Improvement in FPS: 96%! I really was GPU limited! Further note: knocking water down to low gains 3-5 fps even with CIV Traffic and HDR switched on.

Surely you can pretend to be in an A10 A by not mounting the Sniper pod and job's a good 'un! :-)

Completely agree. Tracking damage and unit statuses would be the next best thing to a DC.

Doesn't really float my boat this - what are you going to do with it? Take off, fly around a bit (to do what?), land and then never use it again. Still, if you love the P51D then I guess you're in for a treat with its DCS detail. I'll be giving this a miss until maybe we have some appropriate scenarios and equivalent units.
