  1. yeah, even Viggen and M2k we have in game are early 90's modernizations, but lets call this Gulf War like scenario, so no Fox3, no INS/GPS based munition, INS navigation, no omni datalinka but with awacs, peak of cold war technology
  2. Sweet spot for Mig-29A will be REAL 80's setup, propably on Persian Gulf or Syria map, we can get milsim like order of battle on those 2 maps, with Tomcat, both Eagles, both Mirages, Migs, Phantom and some older cold war airframes, excluding everything with datalinks (even Flankers) and Litening pod (maybe except Harrier) this would be healthy balanced DCS MP setup, what exact missiles type we get is irrelevant, becouse Mig in XXI centaury will be obsolete in every role, even with ER/ET, but against planes with similar limited situational awerness it will be competetive and blast to fly. Also small thing, but seems nobody noticed, our FC3 Mig dont have HD bombs except KGMU and antirunway one currently, with Mig crazy performance, low altidue strikes will be chellenging, but also fun if we get more unguided ordenace that can be fired just from over the tree line
  3. Poland ditched Migs-23 for Migs-21, it has nothing to do with plane performance, just much lower running cost
  4. Yes, talking about NATO upgrades, but Serbian or Belarussian one would be welcoem as well. Please prove me wrong, but iirc same Israeli company was doing MFD upgrade of HUD reapeter for NATO variants, of course there are more systems added to allow displaying data from those other systems, but wondering if there is non secret data about them, similar to NS-430
  5. We have NS-430 that is 3rd party addon that increase older platforms performance in modern times, I dont see reason why something similar cant be made by module developer, Gazelle is Mig-29A age mate, and get tablet with GPS few months ago, I m asking, becouse NS-430 is largely abondoned, and there is plenty of modules left behind that need them and are still in use today, Mig-29A is still flying, but nearly all operators did some upgrades to original Soviet variant, we also see things like HARM's being used from one, and given limited amount of redfor really modern planes, it's one of modules that make more sense to get those, so definitely "it's hard to grasp" it will be just early 80's A variant, becouse we have precedents to thing more than this is possible. If we have NS-430 added as cockpit feature, if we can have tablet, i dont really see reason why we cant have editor option for CTD being more than HUD reapeter in GPS/GLONASS time
  6. I wonder how much "mid fidelity" stuff ED can add later that plug Mig-29 biggest leak-lack of situationnal awerness. like upgrading hud reapeter to MFD on modernized Migs and ability to carry some guided A2G weapons. Can ED can add this as editor option to increase Mig-29 usefulness on modern servers? Currentl FC3 Mig-29 effectivness, even on 80/90 server is very poor according to large sample stats
  7. "At most, they have a commercial GPS unit stuck on top of the HUD repeater." I wouldnt mind commercial GPS on future FF Mig, but also current FC3 modules, but in 3d form inside cockpit, not flat overlays like we have now with NS-430 on FC3. Gazelle get tablet with GPS in one of latest updates, not bad idea for devs to follow IMO
  8. it's already simplified by making SARH missiles near useless close to ground, IMO it's heroic attempt from ED to make ground attack platform live better in usual MP enviroment, that is no cooperation, no friendly air cover, instead of limiting radar to LOS like it should be. Ground clutter indeed was making old radars useless, but not anything near 4th gen fighters. Mig 29 had it's issues, seeing double when there was single target, seeing single target when there was pair, not seeing cold targets at all, and propably some more, about not being able to spot relatively fast moving object near ground I never heard.
  9. Given how terribly implemented anti radiation weapons are, it's ridicolous to hear about those strict requirements, we can literally take missiles from alien space ship and they will perform more to RL than Harms and Chinese/Russian Eqiuvalents, based on data from various books and pilots interview on topic, it's safe to say they overperform by hundreads of %, if 3rd party dev have a chance to bring some order to this chaos, and give a lot of selling points to module as a bonus, it's an offer hard to reject. Hopefully members of this forum have some documentation that could help with this. Adding Armats to one of F1 version would still be less of a stretch than Sea Eagles on C-101
  10. I had similar experiance on BF in F-15C vs Su-25T, missed 3 Sparrows, 2 lost radar lock due pilot flying very low, 3rd Sparrow followed chaff, then missed 3 Aim-9M that liked flares more than plane. But I can confirm A-10 being somehow hard to hit also, think i missed several R-73's, there was a guy on Contention server who made 5 (five) A2A kills in 1 sortie, maybe nobody told that A-10 pilot it's "study level sim"
  11. F-5E Tiger II paid lifting with added late 80's European NATO variant would fit
  12. It's not contradict anything, IRL Mig's could not be spotted simply becouse AWACS was too far away, Yugoslavia is hilly tarrain, so it's easy to hide, also F-15's could just CAP for threats flying hi, rather than scanning ground, it's completely possible they were invisible on radars, point is that current radar moddeling of ALL FC3 modules treat radar as not doppler one, in MP this leads to hillarious scenarios where helicopters and harriers are more dengerous enemies for FC3 modules than Vipers, Hornets, and real air superiority fighters, but again SP only players never notice this, becouse even AI helos fly like few higher than humans, so i repeat again, broken radar dynamics may be not be easy to notice for them, if someone wants to hide from doppler radar, then as mentioned already, you should rather pick busy highway than forest or urban area, becouse radars are too sensitive, in game it's opposite. I would love to provide tracks, but all Blue Flag tracks cannont be opened, game CTD
  13. No, they dont, doppler radars see fast moving targets on ground clutter, no FC3 module can do it
  14. More interesting question is, do FC3 modules finally get doppler radars, I m sure FF Mig 29 get one (finally)
  15. gong to deck as A2A tactic used against Eagle in DCS would be suicidal in RL, but is fine with current radar moddeling, in game it's magic trick to force merge.
  16. I played quite a lot of SP in Eagle, and you are rarely face fighters on purpose flying close to ground, avoiding bvb with Eagle where it's superior, current radar moddeling allow tactics that in RL would be suicidal most of the time (going into deck), this is situation that you see on MP, in SP even helicopters fly higher than real people in superseonic jets, this is battlefield realism part, that is just not here in SP. Ofc there are lements of SP that have more BF realism than MP, but bad ground clutter effect on radar moddeling just impacs MP way more than SP. Btw, Fulcrum and Flanker radar moddeling is equally bad, but Eagle gameplay is more affected by this, i m preety sure FF Mig 29 get this thing sorted out, similar to SE, but it's borader FC3 problem, that is wey beyong simple system moddeling, if we remove any waypoints or remove radar entirely, would this be also "simplified system modeling" lebel correct? If we have radar not automatically chaningg mode to STT while firing Sparrow, then we may call it simplified system modelling, lack of AP or limited AP options is same, but not working AP that is in game is also simplified system moddeling or it's just broken?
  17. I understand we have SE that even in terms of kinetic performance should be on par if not better than DCS C Eagle, assuming same fuel and wepaon load thx to better engine, what bothers me is that "study level sim" have broken radar moddling for 3rd most pupular module in game, (FC3 is after Hornet and Viper) I understand ED policy, that FC3 is old and maybe i can go as far to say that this level of radar moddling may encourage people to buy other blue FF module, I'm fine with this, but for God sake, we have this plane in multiplayer setup, it's about realistic battlefield, and FC3 is still selling decently afaik, especialy among new players, if ED is really afraid of making C Eagle too good, then dumb it down to A Eagle with only Sparrows, but make radar work as it should, it's already here, any relatively modern 3 or 4th gen fighter can see on ground clutter. Current radar moddeling creates unrealistic battlefield, and this is much moresirious thing than simplified system moddeling lebel from FC3, simplified nav or radio system have no effect on battlefield, not witihn DCS level of simulation and server practice in general, but weapons and sensors related stuff in this state is a no go for product of DCS stature. It's just too "big" plane for this. BTW, I understand SP only crawd that see no problem with this, in SP AI is tooo get killed only anyway, so all battlefield is already simpolified, becouse AI simply not use tactics to take adventage of own plane or weaknes of palyer plane, so inside SP, a lot of radr moddelnig issues will be irrelevant, whatever we can call DCS study level sim vs AI is another topic.
  18. It's much worse than this, becouse there is a glitchy part you mentioned, but also armoured nose, R-60's hitting you from front always destroy radar and HUD, but plane will be flying like nothing happened, 0 effect on FM. As for radar modelling, it's not avarage, not even bad, it's broken, currently radar struggle to lock targets flying close to ground, our Eagle radar is supposed to be from 90's, capable of attacking 4 targets with amraams at a same time, can see targets 100 miles away easily, but this simple thing that was known for Mig 23, is beyond F-15C capabilitis, while FF modules using modification of same radar have no problems with this, too bad we dont have single seater FF Eagle availble, and 2 seater is WIP for God know how long, so basically best NATO fighter in game is glitchy, underperforming mess. Of course there are things that are made well, FM is good, graphics and visual damage model is fine, SP campaign is good, also small things like vibrations at low speed are nice, iirc FF F-15 dont have this, it's a lot given price, issue is that plane selected for this state of the module is rather ankward, becouse we dont have FF alternative for role F-15C is designed, Strike Eagle is 2 seater bomber (with no working AI currently), and other planes are multipurpose fighters with worse range and kinetic performance
  19. FC3 Mig 29 FM is good enaugh to be used in future FF Mig 29, it was recent ED employe statemant, as for my sources, one is mentioned IAF training in Indian media, another one are training betwean Czech and French air forces shortly after Soviet Union callapse, so yeah, possible those were odler engines, sadly i may struggle now to give you link, but short story was that despite lack of dogfighting traning in Mig 29's, Czech pilots menaged to be more than competetive vs seasoned Mirage pilots, same source was also claiming that Mig 23's otoh were much worse than Mirages F-1's in doghfights btw, so no supprise, original source was quote of Czech aviation magazine, and was in Russian iirc, possible some forum member have link. I know there are other factors of plane performance than thrust to weight ratio, but data like propulsion system efficiency would be nice addition, it could bring us closer to belive current M2k FM is actully realistic and people like me can hide in holes they came from :), but for now, sorry, there is very little data about M2k performance and it's mostly against common wisdom. I m not saying Razbam model is bad, I just dont know, maybe it's best modelled FM in DCS, but given uncertanity regarding topic, i m very sceptical, essspecially given how many FM changes M2k module had.
  20. Without any charts you see plenty of comparisons betwean Mig 29 and M2k, there is plenty of pilots interview who participated in excercies against M2k in doghfights, they ALL say that M2k is not a king of dogfighting, that mirages were losing against Mig-29 with much less experianced pilots in Mig 29's, but of course we have to trust charts that have source "trust me bro" or "classified" and are against popular knowladge, and against common sense based on m2k thrust to weight compered to aircrafts of it's era.
  21. S version should remain, I m not sure about G variant, but it's diffrent situation to A-10A and A-10C, in Mig case we have same plane. Speaking about Mig 29S, good moment for some love from ED, Flanker/J-11 currently is rather widely accepted with PL-12 on servers, IMO Mig 29S getting R-77-1 would be a nice gesture towards MP community, even with this addition it will be far from OP with all limitations compered to Flankers and F-teens
  22. I m super ok with removal of FC3 Mig 29A from Earth after FF Mig arrives, and i love my FC3 old Fulcrum
  23. going of topic now, and stop with this post, but Shrikes in A-4 are preety well modelled, curious if Phantom improve current picture, but i said already, game should give us option to turn on system like IADS, or at least training setting should affect SAM's behavior, further options like really integreted SAM network should be another option in mission editor or just difficulty setting, propably only in editor. In general, if we are getting battlefield simulation on par with current systems moddeling, then there is no point of those systems moddeling on modules in the first place, it's just performance hit for no gains.
  24. 99% of the time? pls give me a link to your source, Retheon official page dont count I can give you source to statment that 700+ fired ARM's killed 3 radars in Yugoslavia, and yes, they were turning of radars, not having this at least as option for AI put sirious scratch on DCS "study level sim" lebel Speaking about HOJ in SARH missiles, given efficiency of this mode in DCS, it should be a viable IRL combat tactic to fire SARH on jammer and go cold, somehow I never heard about any aerial kill this way in history of aviation, in DCS missiles in HOJ are more effective than they are against chaffing/flaring targets.
  25. lack of clutter processing is definitely delivered in fc3 mig, sub 15km detection ranges for small targets near ground, it's preety much what you described as helmet cueing support plus ability to make stealth attacks from the bottom
