MiG-29 all versions, Damper does not work properly at high speed!
Ramius007 replied to Irisz's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
in DCS-yes, IRL, when Western and Eastern equipment was on similar tier it wasnt the case actully, if you look for KDR, it's really bad OVERALL for Soviet eqipment becouse of sealclubbing by US and Israel of some Arabic airforces, mind you that shortly after Yom Kippur, Israel startet getting F-15's and F-16's when Syria didnt even get Mig-23, US wars in PG were very similar, a lot of 4th gen fighters with extremaly well trained pilots against 2-3rd gen planes with little amount of new gear, also huge support fleet for Coalition in those wars and huge numerical adventage. Conficts like Iraq-Iran when both sides had similar training and similar level of eqipment actully not support one side dominance. For Vietnam Era, I dare to say that Soviet equpment proved to be better if we take a look for production cost of things like Mig-17 or 21 against F-4. Only a bit of topic -
R-27T/ET Tactics - How to use correctly?
Ramius007 replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
No matter what you do with current ingame FC3 weapons, it doesnt turn blue vs red scenario in balanced experiance past 1990 era, better missiles alone dont help much with worse situational awerness and worse radar, Flankers in DCS have sirious transonic drag issues that look like a bug as well. What we really need is modern FF or medium fidelity Russian or Chinese hi performance jet, that is more advanced than announced by ED 9.12 Fulcrum. 1992+ semi realistic scenarios on Caucasus or Kola maps are dead horse currently without giving some F-teens to red team, for me personally it's a big turn of alone, but it's getting of topic -
FC3 NVG mods no longer work, clickable F-15C breaks IC, btw that clickable F-15C mod had more things mapped than FC3 Eagle, but project seem to be abondoned after RB SE realese
-
Given how hi quality some mods we have around, it wouldnt be impossible to add a lot of missing FC3 Eagle functionalities via mod to improve it to FF, we are not touching radar or weapons anyway, but everything else can be found in some mods: INS, TACAN, MFD's, even things like working hook can be done...

I highly doubt that even old j-11's assemled in China didnt get any native missile support later, you dont need huge cockpit or avionics changes to allow this. pl-5's, pl-8's should be there, pl-12 i m not sure, guess it propably requires significant avionics changes and there are most likely planes that get higher priority to use most advanced missiles than J-11A
-
what breaks current J-11 fidelity is lack of any sort of Chinese weapons, not really lack of better missiles...
-
If we are getting FF Mig-29, We can definitely see Su-22 or Mig-25 coming as well, but sad part is that expected revenues from those will be smaller than from western jets, so DCS destiny is blue vs red inbalance in MOST setups. 2 mentioned jets are interesting projects for some new 3rd party developer to enter DCS World imo
-
adv 4th gen modules dont cost 80$, they are below AAA game price every 2 months, but buying late 4h gen plane doesnt make you dominant, you will be still dying a lot, just becouse of mindset presented here. As for adding J-15 or similar, "little" problem with all advanced and even that not so advanced Chinese jets is that we dont even have cockpit photos, you cant really add those planes to arcade shooter semi realistically, and now we are talking about DCS... edit: btw, there are servers that are adding pl-12 to J-11 or even Su-33 in modern setup, but if you think this change alone make those planes on par with F-15 or F-16 you are wrong, there are a lot of veriablees involved how competetive they are, fc3 radars are worse, situational awerness is worse, and FC3 Flanker have transonic performance issues, so pl-12 are not even close to be "I win button" What we really need, is full fidelity advanced 4th gen Chinese or Russian fighter. If you are interested in modern not NATO jet, take a look at Su-30 mod and hope that servers start adding it, similar to what ECW did with A-4
-
IMO for multiplayer purposes it is best to remove aim-120C and just make 90's setup on servers with aim-120B max, instead of adding pl-12 to j-11, I also have a feeling that R-77 kinetic performance is a bit too bad and aim-120 a bit too good, if you compere some availble data for aim-120 with what we have in game, it's not impossible it's overperforming (but also possible it's on point, depending on source) For DCS purpose, both single and multi player amraam with worse range is just better game. As for J-11, it should be just a visualy diffrent from Su-27, even R-77 are debious on version we get. If anything I would rather like to see players controllable Mig-31 than make missiles modifications or just pray to Deka to give us best analogue possible FF variant of J-11 with R-77 or even pl-12.

I would add abuse of using own plane position on f10 map, despite flying FF planes, or gamma adjustments during night flying, you can flamingcliff your FF module as much as you like, but still use that BS FC3 simplification argument, A2A in all FF modules are as simple or as difficult as in FC3 one, IFF is done by EWR raports on servers, even for friendlies in massage style, so again-0 fidelity, even if you play FF plane

whats point in MAC if we have FF viper, hornet a seagle? F-5 is better FC3 like plane potential than su-22, FC3 su-25a is borderline, rest of FC3 too complicated and deserve FF
-
As long as we dont get unrealistic ccip/ccrp i doubt they have to do anything, F-5 is propably easiest FF plane to learn, difficulty comes from making it work, rather than mastering systems. I m curious what they do with navigation, F-5, unlike all current FC3 planes had no INS. IMO F-5 is dream FC3 like plane, but rather with more advanced export varians included, then it fits FC3 perfectly, much more than current planes we get with FC3

Sweet spot for Mig-29A will be REAL 80's setup, propably on Persian Gulf or Syria map, we can get milsim like order of battle on those 2 maps, with Tomcat, both Eagles, both Mirages, Migs, Phantom and some older cold war airframes, excluding everything with datalinks (even Flankers) and Litening pod (maybe except Harrier) this would be healthy balanced DCS MP setup, what exact missiles type we get is irrelevant, becouse Mig in XXI centaury will be obsolete in every role, even with ER/ET, but against planes with similar limited situational awerness it will be competetive and blast to fly. Also small thing, but seems nobody noticed, our FC3 Mig dont have HD bombs except KGMU and antirunway one currently, with Mig crazy performance, low altidue strikes will be chellenging, but also fun if we get more unguided ordenace that can be fired just from over the tree line

Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Ramius007 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Poland ditched Migs-23 for Migs-21, it has nothing to do with plane performance, just much lower running cost -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Ramius007 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Yes, talking about NATO upgrades, but Serbian or Belarussian one would be welcoem as well. Please prove me wrong, but iirc same Israeli company was doing MFD upgrade of HUD reapeter for NATO variants, of course there are more systems added to allow displaying data from those other systems, but wondering if there is non secret data about them, similar to NS-430 -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Ramius007 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
We have NS-430 that is 3rd party addon that increase older platforms performance in modern times, I dont see reason why something similar cant be made by module developer, Gazelle is Mig-29A age mate, and get tablet with GPS few months ago, I m asking, becouse NS-430 is largely abondoned, and there is plenty of modules left behind that need them and are still in use today, Mig-29A is still flying, but nearly all operators did some upgrades to original Soviet variant, we also see things like HARM's being used from one, and given limited amount of redfor really modern planes, it's one of modules that make more sense to get those, so definitely "it's hard to grasp" it will be just early 80's A variant, becouse we have precedents to thing more than this is possible. If we have NS-430 added as cockpit feature, if we can have tablet, i dont really see reason why we cant have editor option for CTD being more than HUD reapeter in GPS/GLONASS time -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Ramius007 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
I wonder how much "mid fidelity" stuff ED can add later that plug Mig-29 biggest leak-lack of situationnal awerness. like upgrading hud reapeter to MFD on modernized Migs and ability to carry some guided A2G weapons. Can ED can add this as editor option to increase Mig-29 usefulness on modern servers? Currentl FC3 Mig-29 effectivness, even on 80/90 server is very poor according to large sample stats -
"At most, they have a commercial GPS unit stuck on top of the HUD repeater." I wouldnt mind commercial GPS on future FF Mig, but also current FC3 modules, but in 3d form inside cockpit, not flat overlays like we have now with NS-430 on FC3. Gazelle get tablet with GPS in one of latest updates, not bad idea for devs to follow IMO

MiG-29S,G within FC3 after MiG-29A FF release
Ramius007 replied to Mateo's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
it's already simplified by making SARH missiles near useless close to ground, IMO it's heroic attempt from ED to make ground attack platform live better in usual MP enviroment, that is no cooperation, no friendly air cover, instead of limiting radar to LOS like it should be. Ground clutter indeed was making old radars useless, but not anything near 4th gen fighters. Mig 29 had it's issues, seeing double when there was single target, seeing single target when there was pair, not seeing cold targets at all, and propably some more, about not being able to spot relatively fast moving object near ground I never heard. -
Given how terribly implemented anti radiation weapons are, it's ridicolous to hear about those strict requirements, we can literally take missiles from alien space ship and they will perform more to RL than Harms and Chinese/Russian Eqiuvalents, based on data from various books and pilots interview on topic, it's safe to say they overperform by hundreads of %, if 3rd party dev have a chance to bring some order to this chaos, and give a lot of selling points to module as a bonus, it's an offer hard to reject. Hopefully members of this forum have some documentation that could help with this. Adding Armats to one of F1 version would still be less of a stretch than Sea Eagles on C-101

not a bug A-10C nearly impossible to hit with SARH/IR missiles
Ramius007 replied to Pavlin_33's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I had similar experiance on BF in F-15C vs Su-25T, missed 3 Sparrows, 2 lost radar lock due pilot flying very low, 3rd Sparrow followed chaff, then missed 3 Aim-9M that liked flares more than plane. But I can confirm A-10 being somehow hard to hit also, think i missed several R-73's, there was a guy on Contention server who made 5 (five) A2A kills in 1 sortie, maybe nobody told that A-10 pilot it's "study level sim" -
It's not contradict anything, IRL Mig's could not be spotted simply becouse AWACS was too far away, Yugoslavia is hilly tarrain, so it's easy to hide, also F-15's could just CAP for threats flying hi, rather than scanning ground, it's completely possible they were invisible on radars, point is that current radar moddeling of ALL FC3 modules treat radar as not doppler one, in MP this leads to hillarious scenarios where helicopters and harriers are more dengerous enemies for FC3 modules than Vipers, Hornets, and real air superiority fighters, but again SP only players never notice this, becouse even AI helos fly like few higher than humans, so i repeat again, broken radar dynamics may be not be easy to notice for them, if someone wants to hide from doppler radar, then as mentioned already, you should rather pick busy highway than forest or urban area, becouse radars are too sensitive, in game it's opposite. I would love to provide tracks, but all Blue Flag tracks cannont be opened, game CTD

MiG-29S,G within FC3 after MiG-29A FF release
Ramius007 replied to Mateo's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
No, they dont, doppler radars see fast moving targets on ground clutter, no FC3 module can do it
