Hit BMP with 80mm HEAT rocket and only 25% damage, seems to be completely wrong, I noticed that Soviet era anti tank cluster munition is very weak as well, Is thare some script that handle this? Do we have any sort of warheat type modeling vs diffrent target types?
-
Does anybody know what value are used for Mirage 2k ECM power, seem to be completely wild, significantly stronger than Su-27, practically killing SARH capability on my F-15C below 20 miles, feels completely wrong
-
only on F-15C, or it's common across modules?
-
It would be a good thing to know on any server that uses mods...
-
I just found out that Sparrows cant be locked while in TWS mode, may sound it's not a big deal for SARH missile, but seems like STT lock is way more vulnurable to jamming, even at clos ranges, found this one on 80's server against Mirage 2k, is it working as intended?

all good, but AAA target aquisition time should be toned down a bit by ED, currently even at lowest setting they see you much further away than you see them

Do you guys think it's more important to have notch mechanic weakened over lets say random missile failures that happen even in most advanced weapons but are not modelled in DCS? TBF, I expect AMRAAM's to not be fooled by simple tricks mentioned here and palying a bit of devil advocate, but thare are many other variables that we are not awere of, but are decreasing missiles efficiency, those can be things like humidity, harsh field enviroment , poor production methods, decrypted by enemy guidance system and ECM jammers adjusted to make X missile near useless and so on, new avionics software upgrade making missiel to not work, and so on, most of those things never get modelled, and having missiles being not some sort of wunderwaffe is part of DCS selling point, and it's REALISM...

If RL have bugs and game not simulate this, then it is a bug. On more sirious note regarding specific OP topic, just simple variance added to how doppler work in missile would work, it's proapbly most realistic way to do this, given we lack classified info what exactly is needed to beat missile
-
I also see bug, missiles in DCS always go of rails, missile engine always ignite, radar/ seeker/ proximity fuze always work... This coin have 2 sides, i dont see anybody raporting dark side of the coin

Are You awere that you are trying to make undoubtly best A2A missile in game even better without any data relevance on this part?

Why not the Caucasus with the new lighting model
Ramius007 replied to Hotdognz's topic in DCS: Caucasus
truth is, that especally winter textures around airfields, when thare is no grass, or anything look like nightmare, and to my supprise no mod adress this -
Many good things but PLEASE bring back the autohover
Ramius007 replied to Ian Boys UK's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Copilot current use is spare live when pilot get killed, I m ok with realistic AP function, but badly need working AI crew -
in 70's doppler navigation was a thing, you know? Same with modyfing inner pylons to fire sidewinders, 2 IR missiles is 50's era std, we have Mig 21bis from early 70's, and somehow export users modified it to allow double rack for R-60, we have this implemented in DCS Mig-21, but 4 Aim-9 that was std for F-5E II cant be? As for using F-5E for modern times, it's still in use with several AF's. It's not supposed to be competetive, but we have enaugh trainers in DCS already, and actully very few non FC3 fighters we can take and challange those F-teens in somehow realistic scenarios given maps we have availble

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Ramius007 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Just check M2kC performance fully laden in DCS and RL, and rethink what you wrote here. I really like current Gazelle, it's challanging, but feels real. -
Really need AI copilot, only about 10h in Gazelle now, but hi threat enviroment badly need extra crew member, even spotting targets/threats outside pilot view with optical sensor would be good.

F-5 we have, has no real application in combat for a mid 70's variant we get, lack of inertial navigation or some sort of bombing computer make it ankward in A2G, 2xSidewinder and weaker performance than anything supersonic make it bad fighter, it's preety much GBU truck for any effective combat use and not much else. It's realistic, but version we get is too limited in real combat enviroment of this era, and shouldnt be a reference for the module, and definitely not in current DCS enviroment. Even with like 4x Aim-9L it would be barely competetive, just a Mig-21 peer, as we have Mirage F-1 already and F-4/ Mig 23 coming. training agressors F-5 is ok, just need REAL combat variant used by one of many foreign operators on top of current training version.

Feedback Thread AJS-37 Viggen Patch November 2023
Ramius007 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I agree it will never get same love as F-teens for obvious reasons, unless F-teens would be broken, and of course it's not the case, but I still belive Kola map boost Viggen massively, I think a lot of people dont consider buying "homeless" planes, even f they have interest in them, reasons are not having really realistic setup and more importantly implied from this limited content. I m thinknig abotu next module after FC3, got Syria map, but it's really hard to even think about buying Viggen with current maps we have in game. Possible that right now Viggen is in worst spot for those reasons, and I really miss some sort of Baltic map, supprised it's not in development, preety much 80 years of realistic and fictional but possible scenarios. Kola will be first map that allow cold war going hot without raising eyebrows -
Feedback Thread AJS-37 Viggen Patch November 2023
Ramius007 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Lack of "home" for Viggen is likely one of biggest issues making it less popular, but for me definitely will be very high on wishlist when Kola map arrives, cant wait for road landings in the snow! -
It's lack of splash damage in general, HE cluster munitions, weaker heat warheads and small unguided rockets are underpowered in general, to make effects more realistic, we need to increase splash damage (thare is mod for this) and effects of subamunition on vehicle crew, it's not really difficult to penetrate turret by aerial dropped munition, even older heat bombs, issue is hitpoints based system, with no crew hitpoints

70-80's era British ships were made from aluminium, very vulnurable to fire, OTOH we have USS Stark hit by 2 AShM in the 80's, menaged to survive and reenetered service, but steel hull.

Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025)
Ramius007 replied to plusnine's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I love Skyhawk currently, nice to see more and more content coming, also seeing both Syria and Sinai map getting better as time progress, so curiosity forcing me to ask if Israeli variant with 30mm DEFA cannons is planned. Would be great chance to show other devs realistic effects of firing big cannons -
In FC3 last mission of Su-27 campaign is screening attack on Nimitz battlegroup, 2 AEGIS escorts, played this mission only once, but i was rather supprised that group of 15~ planes iirc (Su-34, Tu-22) was enaugh to sink it, but maybe thare was some mission scripting involved, I only saw in debrief that group was defending itself, so if anything I would assume carrier escort is too weak currently, but it was just one mission. What I wanted to say esarlier is that it's near impossible to simulate realistically attack on carrier battlegroup with combo of assets/maps we have in game involving realistic scenario, US carrier on Black Sea is not one of them PG and Iran would be interesting, but as mentioned speedboats suicide assets or AShM ballistic missiles not in game and nobody have idea about effectivnes of such missiles currently if they get included
-
Issue with simulating attack on carrier battlegroup is that even relatively wealthy medium sized country dont have resources to do this, even using large part of it's navy and entire airforce, how many countries really have triple digit air launched AShM's, another issue would be coordiantion of 100+ planes attack, and I m not going deeper into things like recon and maintainng targeting info during attack and so on. Weapons moddeling is just small part of this picture.

MiG-29's BFM characteristics / doubts
Ramius007 replied to Top Jockey's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I dont think Su-27 or Mig 29 are naceserrilly underperforming, it was just raported M2k FM issue especially on low altidues, what is reelly annoying is overperforming AI in dogfights, I would really love option that gives AI planes that have models in game realistic flight models and I m awere of cpu usage in multi level flight, but still. If AI F-14 can outrate my Su-33 is not Su 33 issue, but same thing people raport in F-18 vs AI Mig 21 it's AI SFM issue. As for redfor being underrepresented is knows issue, we have to use FC3 avatiation museum in any modern conflict for "realistic setup" It's good that avg. player in Mig-29A will struggle vs XXI centaury std "F teen" AI and human, it's just what makes DCS realistic, but definitely ED should either update Soviet FC3 pack with a bit more advanced weapons, add 2 maybe 3 AAM's more modern on planes that we know carry them or, make paid update to FC3, adding Mig-29SFM or something similar that have better fighting chance in modern era vs western hardware. -
Sure, issue is that planes and loadout have no timeframes and it's up to server creator to allow/not allow certain planes, it's ridicolous to imagine Mig 19 and Mig 29 on the same server, and from what i see people lean towards most modern times and I wish you luck taking Mig 29A/G against Amraam C anything, mind you, only 2 SARH missiles with ca. 20% efficiency against defending target Lack of older F-16 is striking, I have to admit, this really ask for LF Flaming Cliffs 4 package with F-16A, maybe F-16 MLU, Mig 29SM to give redfor fighting chance, and propably 1 more plane that have similar weight/thrust version to 1 plane that we already have as HF, but either older or newer variant with new cocpit/ external model Coming Kola map give home to Viggen and definitely will be great map for Mig-29A cold war scenarios, In theory we are already fine, but even FC3 dont have dedicated Mig 29A campaign, we dont have any paid Mig 29A or G campaign, and PG map is too limited to represent Gulf War or Iraq-Iran war well, Syria is always solid option, but you find very little missions and even less campaigns for Mig 29A/G currently, and IMO it's kinda indicative of real interest in Mig 29A, S version otoh gets way more love, even if it's practically export variant used by North Korea We get Forrestal with F-14 module, can get some Indian carrier along Mig 29K, you can be sure we get free mods with Indian assets shorty, also happy to see Indian Ocean map, covering Pakistani and Indian coast, maybe Diego Garcia. Finally Jeff would find it's home
