  1. 70-80's era British ships were made from aluminium, very vulnurable to fire, OTOH we have USS Stark hit by 2 AShM in the 80's, menaged to survive and reenetered service, but steel hull.

I love Skyhawk currently, nice to see more and more content coming, also seeing both Syria and Sinai map getting better as time progress, so curiosity forcing me to ask if Israeli variant with 30mm DEFA cannons is planned. Would be great chance to show other devs realistic effects of firing big cannons

In FC3 last mission of Su-27 campaign is screening attack on Nimitz battlegroup, 2 AEGIS escorts, played this mission only once, but i was rather supprised that group of 15~ planes iirc (Su-34, Tu-22) was enaugh to sink it, but maybe thare was some mission scripting involved, I only saw in debrief that group was defending itself, so if anything I would assume carrier escort is too weak currently, but it was just one mission. What I wanted to say esarlier is that it's near impossible to simulate realistically attack on carrier battlegroup with combo of assets/maps we have in game involving realistic scenario, US carrier on Black Sea is not one of them PG and Iran would be interesting, but as mentioned speedboats suicide assets or AShM ballistic missiles not in game and nobody have idea about effectivnes of such missiles currently if they get included

Issue with simulating attack on carrier battlegroup is that even relatively wealthy medium sized country dont have resources to do this, even using large part of it's navy and entire airforce, how many countries really have triple digit air launched AShM's, another issue would be coordiantion of 100+ planes attack, and I m not going deeper into things like recon and maintainng targeting info during attack and so on. Weapons moddeling is just small part of this picture.

I dont think Su-27 or Mig 29 are naceserrilly underperforming, it was just raported M2k FM issue especially on low altidues, what is reelly annoying is overperforming AI in dogfights, I would really love option that gives AI planes that have models in game realistic flight models and I m awere of cpu usage in multi level flight, but still. If AI F-14 can outrate my Su-33 is not Su 33 issue, but same thing people raport in F-18 vs AI Mig 21 it's AI SFM issue. As for redfor being underrepresented is knows issue, we have to use FC3 avatiation museum in any modern conflict for "realistic setup" It's good that avg. player in Mig-29A will struggle vs XXI centaury std "F teen" AI and human, it's just what makes DCS realistic, but definitely ED should either update Soviet FC3 pack with a bit more advanced weapons, add 2 maybe 3 AAM's more modern on planes that we know carry them or, make paid update to FC3, adding Mig-29SFM or something similar that have better fighting chance in modern era vs western hardware.

Sure, issue is that planes and loadout have no timeframes and it's up to server creator to allow/not allow certain planes, it's ridicolous to imagine Mig 19 and Mig 29 on the same server, and from what i see people lean towards most modern times and I wish you luck taking Mig 29A/G against Amraam C anything, mind you, only 2 SARH missiles with ca. 20% efficiency against defending target Lack of older F-16 is striking, I have to admit, this really ask for LF Flaming Cliffs 4 package with F-16A, maybe F-16 MLU, Mig 29SM to give redfor fighting chance, and propably 1 more plane that have similar weight/thrust version to 1 plane that we already have as HF, but either older or newer variant with new cocpit/ external model Coming Kola map give home to Viggen and definitely will be great map for Mig-29A cold war scenarios, In theory we are already fine, but even FC3 dont have dedicated Mig 29A campaign, we dont have any paid Mig 29A or G campaign, and PG map is too limited to represent Gulf War or Iraq-Iran war well, Syria is always solid option, but you find very little missions and even less campaigns for Mig 29A/G currently, and IMO it's kinda indicative of real interest in Mig 29A, S version otoh gets way more love, even if it's practically export variant used by North Korea We get Forrestal with F-14 module, can get some Indian carrier along Mig 29K, you can be sure we get free mods with Indian assets shorty, also happy to see Indian Ocean map, covering Pakistani and Indian coast, maybe Diego Garcia. Mig 29G had only 2 operators, former being Germany and current one that is Poland, for some reason liveries for Mig-29G not work, despite using same model as A, i tried to edit Lua, added "g", but still nothnig, would be really nice to get liveries for both operators with base FC3, currently we only have former - German Another thing is Mig 29G weapons. I know asking for R-60MK that is R-60 modified for use with helmet mounted sight and diffrentite it from R-60M is too much, but seeing R-27ER/ET that entered service later and never get purchased by either GER or POL should be removed, AFAIK R-27ET and ER were mostly a Su-27 weapon, so even including them as std Mig 29A weapon among Warsaw Pact users with Soviet Union involved is a bit too much, but again, it would be better to just have multiple versions of Mig 29A with specific export user variant being restricted to x weapons via lua, so Mig-29A(Warsaw Pact), Mig 29A (Export) and Mig 29A (Soviet Union/Russia) Btw, default loadout game is using for quick missions for Mig 29G is correct (2 27R,2 R-73,2 R60), so certainly devs knew their business, things just run of track a bit later. Btw, I m awere this Mig 29G change alone may not be great for MP servers, as 29G is only comperable to redfor park on modern servers, as all 'F's" are tier better, but it's another issue...
  8. Best candidate for FF Mig 29 would be Indian Mig-29K, relatively modern and carrier capable, guided A2G weapons and Astra missiles, as non Russian version can do it without going to jail. TBH, I dont think FF Fulcrum A would be a good idea, it's really old currently, and not much content (both maps and conficts), plane is not fitting any timeframe very good, for cold war scenarios is too modern, and for current times is just obsolete

Indeed, that's why pilots flying 200h/y in inferior BFM plane, were break even against those with 50h/y in Mig 29 Btw, i think FC 3 Migs we have are performing to what we can read from interviews of real 29's pilots and their opponents, and data we have, issue are 3rd party devs trying to boost sales sacraficing realism, even if it's not really nacessery, but i pointed this already, that lack of timeframe based loadouts for modules somehow justify this practice. M2kC would be very good multipurpose plane in 90/00 mark, but when everybody wants to take their favorite plane to multiplayer setup with no rules, no timeframes, people competing in planes that range anything from late 50's to XXI centaury, then devs realize they need to do "something", same mess we have with DCS modding, everybody truing to add most modern missiles to every plane, war thunder power creep syndrome.

What makes me sad, is that we dont have any signs of discussion like here on Mirage 2k subforum, seems like everybody are content playing unrealistic module if they bought it, as long as it's overperforming, like M2k wasnt good with RL performance for it's time. 0.7 thrust to weight plane beating 1.08 T/W in a dogfight, nice "realism" ED team. Maybe just using stolen flying sourcer engine.

It's represented very correctly, issue is bigger, RWR and overall all passive detection systems are super accurate in DCS, so ARM's are super effective, HOJ super effective, incoming missile range very accurate, even if simplified model it works, just lack of variance put in equtation seem to be wrong, but again, I can see drama coming with adjusting this to realistic settings As for ECM, it's difficult, everything is classified, We can live with this very simple model that function in a way to givs us more time before enemy get a lock. Things like ECM efficiency vs missiles would be impossible to represent, due lack of data, maybe this is possible for 60/70's era planes, but it's big maybe, everytihng else is just anecdotal knowladge.

  15. all SARH missiles are just obsolete, only planes that use them are those with abondoned modernization programs, and ones that can carry them, and game reflect this preetty good I would say, even if as SARH R-27ET is very good missile, maybe not very accurate but platforms carrying it, can carry a lot of missiles, so spamming is fine. Problem is it's very good missile of the past. OTOH, guess its extremaly hard to find data, but "dead hand" HOJ is most deadly feature of R27ET, so many killed wingmans and even myself by not turning of ECM in time. I think Anti radar/home on jam kind of weapons in video games, DCS sadly included, have those misslies overperform GREATLY compered to RL, guess for usual gamer, even DCS hardcore, firing 10 missiles to hit 1 or 2 times would be dissaointed.

F-5E even if entered service in the 70's, is still operated to this day by many countries, issue with F-5E loadout is rather DCS systemic than module related, thare are plenty of weapons after 1970 that were added without ingerention into or with little ingeretion into avionics. System with no timeline based loadouts limit content per module, you are more or less forced into playing very narrow window of time, and again some weapons are just missing, even for 70's time, maybe we get Shrikes for F-5E after Phantom realese somehow, free A-4 mod have Shrikes, very far from being game changer gameplay wise, with like maybe 20% accuracy at best, but at least give option that was historically availble and reflect historical effectivnes of the weapon, or lack of it Again, nobody is asking for Amraams, Maverics and other stuff that require new FCS, HUD and MFD's to work, just really basic weapons, like ungaided munitions and slighty more modern Sidewinders, even Aim 9L would be an upgrade.
  17. I m new to DCS, F-5 looked like interesting first full fidelity module, I have FC3 and i was toying around with free Skyhawk, but with so restricted loadout F-5 looks too limited and not really realistic, weapons we get looks liike very early model, or not even this (lack of Shrikes)

With slighty updated weapons and bug fixing this would be interesting module, could buy along PG or SA maps, not asking for AIM 120, becouse this is would be too advanced upgrade and i dont even think healthy one, but AIM 9 L or M, defiinitely Shrikes and some Chinese/Russian basic weapons on Iranian f-5s would be fair and realistic

To adding something new to existing Mig 29 fleet, NATO Mig 29 woud be salution, level of modernization that took place in 2013 is well known, with detailed list of upgrdes, yet it's hard to find black on white what new armament is availble now, can assume those are JDAM's, laser guided bombs with lasing provided by wingman/ground operator, possibly HARM fired in raw 60's era way. This would be both full fidelity Mig, but also not totally useless modern fighter bomber, with slighty diffrent to original Russian cockpit, feets/knots HUD, more radios, link 16 and tac situation MFD, new mission computer. Guess including something like Mig-29PL wouldnt set ED members on Russian law fire, just not sure if interest in such Mig would be on same level compered to original one.
  20. It's preety str8forward. What we have now is a mess, both pve and pvp, creating issues of artificially boosting some weapons based on 3rd party developer wishes. In older FC3 Mig 29 compaign we have R-77 capable Mig 29 tackling F-16C with Amraams all in early 90's, ffs. On MP servers it's same, everybody wants to take their favorite aircraft to MODERN setup, so we have 2 F-14's and 1 with buffed missile, like F-14 wasnt capablt aircraft in it's time frame. I was interested in buying F-5 during Halloween sale, just to find out that a lot of weapons were missing, not only Shrikes, but also L and M Sidewinders or Chinese/IRussian weapons, this could be easily fixed with country and era focused loadouts, this would also make balancing in MP much easier without relying on poorly made or unrealistic mods.

  22. Hopefully one day DCS get to a point where most advanced Russian plane you can fly is not Su-25T, sadly it's not a joke, even old Su 24 would be upgrade to what redfor have to offer in A2G
  23. A lot of time passed, but not much changed, still no competetive redfor air superiority aircraft. What I found hillarious in this thread is that nobody have problem that J-11 use ONLY Russian missiles in any modern scenario, lets be sirious, how many Russian missiles China really bought, and how many of them are really operational on like thousands of planes air force. It's like ~1% of entire weapon stock, If anything, we should rather remove ALL Russian missiles from J-11a and replace them with Chinese variants, if we are not agreeing that J-11A can even fire R-77 and i m preety sure R-77 stock was very low anwyay, then even Russian SARH should be replaced with Chinese SARH of the time. Another issue is that we dont have date based loadout in DCS, this leads to old Russia vs Turkey campaign in FC 3 in the 90's having R-77 capable Fulcrum C vs Turkish Amraam capable F-16C... It's more a systemic issue with DCS, and yeah, of course Redfor need better missiles, but this should not kill realism, I do not belive that early PL-12 was better than R-77, so from practical POV it shouldnt matter and I dont think that J-11A would be a taker of all most advanced Chinese missiles either, thare are more capable planes in China current arsenal that can simply make more use of better missiles. I also disagree that giving J-11A Chinese weapons would cripple Jeff sale, it's even hard to consider JF-17 a real RedFor plane, cmon open source avionics, with American parts and weapons produced in Pakistan. its appealing bird on it's own, dont have it yet, but certinly one of more interesting ones if you are into modern jets, and on my steam wishlist currently
