Really looking forward to the new gear Miles, especially because of the smaller size and the charging connector. I had a chat with Miles on Discord earlier, and he asked me to post a few pictures here that I sent him of my cockpit setup for PointCTRL. I've set up a board to rest my fingers against, simulating the presence of an instrument panel in front of me. This was inspired by AndrewUK, and modified to fit my cockpit setup. The posts holding the board up are pine 1x2s, and the board itself is a black foam trifold board from Staples, about $14, of the type that would be used in a school science project. It's stapled to the posts and the whole setup has velcro straps attaching it to the cockpit when I need it. The grey surfaces you see in the photos are outdoor carpet from Lowes, and the velcro sticks right to it, and sufficiently holds the panel in place when I'm flying. I only had to use a box cutter to cut a hole for my legs and flight stick. The whole point for me was that my pointing finger would get a little jittery when holding it out for an extended period, especially due to rotator cuff surgery a few years ago on my right shoulder. Having something to rest my finger on makes all the difference in the world. The major con with this setup is that I can't see the 42" TV that is my cockpit monitor when I have it in place. The two major hurdles I had to overcome were both weight and ease of installation/removal. The trifold board solves both, because I can undo the velcro straps and easily stow the board off to my side when I don't need it. I had an idea this weekend about potentially using polycarbonate sheets that I could see through, but one sheet of the size necessary would be about $90, and wouldn't have the mobility of the trifold. I can't easily climb in over the consoles due to issues with my knee (the major reason for the open front design I came up with), so being able to remove the panel is of prime importance. I hope this inspires others to come up with their own ideas, maybe one that's better than mine!

TGP Zoom I’ve got it set in Joystick Gremlin to control a vJoy axis which I set to relative mode, making it appropriate for the F-16 antenna knob. I use a button combo to recenter it. I’ve also got JG executing a vJoy button at the top, middle, and bottom of the antenna knob so I can use it in both absolute and relative mode without changing profiles. Make sure you're not in LITE mode (buttons in top right corner, choose PRO).

I haven't thought about that, really. I'm not familiar with any plastic shops in the area, though I do know where a sign shop is. Tomorrow I'll ask the maintenance guys at work where the plastic sheets they're using are coming from.

How are people storing their extra stick handles?
RogueSqdn replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I bought these on Amazon, and put a small label on the drawstrings indicating which grip is inside. Velvet bags I have the following grips, and these bags fit them all: TM Warthog TM Hornet RS F16SGRH CE VPC T-50CM2 VPC VFX VPC WarBRD I thought about the display stands, but decided it was too expensive for what you get, plus I wouldn't be able to reach them while sitting in the cockpit. I have a small tote on the floor next to the cockpit that my grips go in, along with my PointCTRL gear and kneeboard. -
I use Joystick Gremlin to fire off one vJoy button when flipping the switch up, delay .25 seconds, then fire another vJoy button. This simulates opening the cover, then flipping the switch. I do the same in reverse when flipping the switch down.

I went into Staples and bought a trifold black foam board of the type you’d see on a school science project. I cut out my notch for my legs and flight stick, and put some Velcro on the corners to hold it to the cockpit (the grey you see is outdoor carpet, and Velcro will stick to it). That and the two wooden posts the board is stapled to hold it in place, and when not using it, I can fold it in thirds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Universal VR sim pit It’s a bit wobbly. I’m in the store now trying to decide if it will provide enough support. Probably so, since I won’t actually need to push buttons on it. Edit: they didn’t have anyone present that could cut it, and at that price I’m not going to risk cutting a 36” straight line by myself. [emoji51] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My local Lowes opens in an hour and a half. I'm thinking about going to get this. I should add that I get a 10% veteran discount. My cockpit is 48" wide, so I can cut down the 72" side to that. The temp panel I built is exactly 36" higher than my side consoles, so the only thing I'd have to cut out of that side is space for the flight stick to move around. It's feasible. I'm thinking about this because at work they've separated a lot of our stations by putting these types of sheets in between people's workbenches.

Unfortunately it’s not that simple with my cockpit. :( Having a 42” TV up high enough to clear the panel means craning my neck like I was in the front row of a movie theater. Not happening. ;) The only thing I can think of to use would be lexan. Unfortunately pieces that big would be around $100. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DCS Menu Nav I don’t think that’s necessary since it works on other than ID1 for me. As for multiple PTTs, I mapped all positions of my Winwing throttle’s comm switch to the same vJoy button in Joystick Gremlin, then made that vJoy button a modifier in DCS. Seems to work and keep my HOTAS buttons from activating while using DMN. I’ve got more work to do on it this weekend, but last night got the F/A-18C and A-10A working. I bought every other module I didn’t own during the sale, but only have the American planes set up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gosh... I'd really like to use this, but I can't get any response even in windowed mode. I normally fly in VR, and understand the overlay won't be visible, but I'm not getting any sounds played or commands executed. I want to have a modifier on my throttle eventually, but I'm not getting any command execution from my joystick, and I'm sure it's ID1 in Windows. EDIT: I was right about it being ID1, and for some reason DMN isn't recognizing anything from ID1. I set my stick to ID2 in Windows and in the config file, and now it works. Now I just have to figure out how I want the keys set. EDIT2: Any way to have multiple toggles? I can figure a way with vJoy and Joystick Gremlin, but if there's a simple way in the ini, I'd prefer it.

The problem I’m having now is that the panel is so high that when it’s in place, I can’t see my 2D monitor (a 42” 4KTV). So if I need to look outside VR it’s a real pain.

I've decided to give this another shot, this time without trying for fancy angles. I tested it out with some cardboard today and think I can make this work with a board that's straight 90 degrees to the floor, with space cut out in the middle for my legs and flight stick. Have to buy wood tomorrow after work, but I've got a plan on mounting it to the cockpit that hopefully should work to quickly pick it up and move it out of the way.

It’s already in there. I have the WW plugged into a powered hub. Before, the lights would stay on when I shut the computer down, and would only turn off if I powered down the hub. If I did that, I’d lose my backlighting setting and have to redo it. Now when the computer is powered down, the lights turn off even if the hub is still powered. When I power the computer up again, it remembers my backlighting setting. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thread necromancy... just loaded it up for first time, and I could SWEAR it's "Run, Rudolph, Run" by Chuck Berry. The song has a line in it about a Sabre Jet.

So I pieced this together that will put each of the easy ones, plus General and Combined Arms at the bottom of the list, and UI Layer at the top (for VR purposes). It's ready for OvGME. I have no idea if this will affect MP, as I don't really fly MP that much at all. Module Names.zip

My problem isn’t that it may not be able to be done. It’s the way the question was treated with no information given at all. Idea from /u/BlackeyeDcs on Hoggit... editing name.lua on them to put Z as the first letter. At least that would group them at the end of the list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don’t see why this was moved to wishlist. It’s a question asking if something can be done in the game as it is currently. If the answer is no, it should be said instead of just moving the thread. Especially when the one who’s asking just spent $600 on you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This has been an issue for me for a while, but I've never found any comment on it. With the sale, I decided to complete the collection and today paid for every module I didn't already own (I bought the campaigns last week). I spent around $600 in total. I have no interest in flying the easy versions of any of the modules. Is there a way I can hide them from the game, or at least, from the input menu? The input menu is somewhat nightmarish to navigate through... cutting out duplicates I'll never use would help. Thanks!

Virpil Throttle afterburner detents (3D printed)
RogueSqdn replied to SneakyBastd's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Yes, you can, but not every plane has that option. If you do it in the Virpil software, you can apply it to every plane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Virpil T50 Obutto low-mount & offset extension
RogueSqdn replied to Schwarzfeld's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I no longer use my Obutto for reasons that include having issues with extensions. I still have the Obutto in my attic, however. I would be interested in getting one, if for no other reason than to provide an option if I wanted to go back to the Obutto. What I’d also like is for someone to come up with a good way to easily mount and unmount the Winwing throttle. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
