to ED: defining refuel/rearm
TucksonSonny replied to 504Goon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It is rather about tactical behaviors like this: While (1) { {Take off} {Spam missiles} {Land} } // BTW, this loop runs for ever (and ever, and a day) -
Australian JSF/F22 debate hotting up
TucksonSonny replied to Anytime's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Anyway, Eurofighter Typhoon already kicked away a contract against the superbug for the Austrian Air Force (Austria) The question is: “Have the Australian air force (Australia) a choice being under heavy US pressure.” (Kind of like Poland) -
No, no I was making an effort for the Cessna’s! Unlucky me because the woman was in the way :D …

And for other reasons: About a month ago my pc was almost dead (read overtaken by nasty spy ware) For the first time ever the complete control of my PC was taken over (it took me 3 days to repair the registry and take control back of my administrator). The 60 Euro Norton Internet Security 2005 was not able to prevent this! (BTW, I will never use that cr*p program again) My problem now is that I am very afraid of giving again control to software and open several ports for multiplay (having firewall on almost on the maximum policy) I have no proof but I remember that the attacks happened while being on line! TS.

And why is an AWACS so attractive? Not! :D Bump

Some nice article on F-16/mig-29 WVR
TucksonSonny replied to tflash's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yea, yea F-22 pawns everything ;) :music_whistling: . And still no articles about a raptor versus ef2k training. That is very strange. I wonder if it could handle 2 typhoons. Maybe we will hear something in 2012. -
Some nice article on F-16/mig-29 WVR
TucksonSonny replied to tflash's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I remember the article; anyway this was 1995 with downgraded engines for the mig-29! Think of how the Mig-35 would play today with the F-16 like a doll! :D -
AMD goes to bed with Intell!
TucksonSonny replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Want to smoke your electricity bill? Anyway candy for the fanboy: http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q4/quad-fx/index.x?pg=4 Indeed AMD is heavily burdened but let’s hope it will not take 5 year to catch up with Intel Surprise but AMD achieved already equal 3DMark06 score but indeed their setup almost smoked the 1000W supply :D. -
Just check my sig (fx55.jpg) Sorry Mizzy :D

to ED: defining refuel/rearm
TucksonSonny replied to 504Goon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
A simple solution for this would be refueling and rearming only when your plane is close enough near by the refuel and arms-trucks (let say 15m). Mission makers can decide to add or not add these trucks on the specific airfield. Without the use of animation this could be done very quickly by the ED programmers (let say your plane needs to be parked close about 15m near by the truck). -
I think you have no point because during the last 2 years about all servers are setting up online missions with mixed Red/Blue teams with mixed US/Rus ships. In a Russki you even don’t know in BVR if you have to deal with a Sukoi or an eagle! ;)

OT: Pratt & Witney TF-30
TucksonSonny replied to AJ.eightFive's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Two Pratt & Whitney TF30-PW-414 afterburning turbofans Rating: 20,900lb (9,480kg) in afterburner F-14A Tomcat Max. speed 1.2 at low level; Mach 2.34 at altitude. Upgraded F-14D - F110: 29000lb (13154kg) thrust source: Just a little old book -
Exactly, Use miniZAP for 5 minutes and you learn more than flying for 2 month (Missile Launch Zone Calculator to check trajectory calculation) Example: Use default settings with target aspect: 180 deg Select AIM-120B AMRAAM Select Reset Select Metric Units Launch Alt: 40000ft Target Alt: 40000ft Select Launch Trajectory Result: 35.2nm Repeat for: Launch Alt: 32000ft Target Alt: 32000ft Trajectory Result: 30.8nm Repeat for: Launch Alt: 5000ft Target Alt: 5000ft Trajectory Result: 12.1nm Conclusion: It is about 3 times harder for a missile to fly at 5k than at 40k. Repeat for: Launch Alt: 40000ft Target Alt: 5000ft Trajectory Result: 48.3nm Very good result but: Use default settings with target aspect: 360 deg (Chase) Repeat for: Launch Alt: 40000ft Target Alt: 5000ft Max pursuit: 20.1 nm If the target turns you are scr*wed Use default settings with target aspect: 360 deg (Chase) Repeat for: Launch Alt: 5000ft Target Alt: 5000ft Max pursuit: 5.6nm This last test explains all the low fliers :D
-
Could be but this is not the hole truth. Low fliers take also advantage of the thick air. At 40k+ missiles do rule because of the thin air.

Imagine you have just spend $ 4000 for that top quality HD 1080p (1900x1080res) plasmascreen and you try to connect this stuff with your $ 5000 Area-51 supercomputer and that stupid Vista is doing a downsize to about 800x600 or even lower of your HD movie (that you own on Blue-ray or whatever format) because M$ think that you will try to copy the source! Also M$ has kind of a new EULA (You don’t own the windows license any longer but you just pay for the service for a certain period of time) Hell WTF! :D
-
I hope you do understand that in a 1on1 situation it would be very stupid to use TWS :D In RWS you would have the same accuracy as the BEriosa system. Source: Falcon 4.0 manual “Air-to-air weapons” page 4-11 paragraph TWS (The theory does work for the F-15C as well)

Give us your mission-file so we can help you out with giving you a rec-file (by prefer ace and expert AI). A recorded file is very small and explains better than all the bragging by people that even don’t fly the Su-27 :D
-
I voted Su-27 but the Star is the Mig-29S for obvious reasons! :pilotfly:

Check out the “Northwind.mdb” example! ;) If I remember it correctly it is about customers, products and suppliers… -
What happened to AWACS?
TucksonSonny replied to FrankTheSpank's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Maybe setting up a CAP to protect these AWACS’s would be a solution ;) -
OT: Kiss your Crypto Goodbye
TucksonSonny replied to GGTharos's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If the encryption-key has the same or larger size than your data/source then even a billion Quantum computers can’t do anything about it! Anyway that is how I made my personal crypto :D (This custom system is installed on a 2GB USB-stick!) -
Lucky for you Spanish eurofighters will hold off the Su-30’s from Africa. We in Belgium are completely protected by neighbor countries armed with Rafales, Eurofighters and a lot of other dangerous stuff thus we have nothing to fear :D .
-
Does it help when you are combat ready and your ass is kicked by a non combat ready fighter! Anyway, F-16 is no match for the Vigen and the F-16 from the Italian Air Force inventory was tested extensively in air-to-air combat training but proved to be no match for Eurofighter Typhoon. :pilotfly:
