About the F-16 there was indeed a mistake made (bad Wikipedia info) Anyway there is of course Ferry range and combat range. F-16CG Block 40/42 has a 1740 nm ferry range. F-16I has a 1,151 miles combat range (1,852 km) The F-16I was developed on the basis of the F-16ES [Enhanced Strategic] single-seat and two-seat, long-range interdictor F-16 proposal. This configuraiton was developed in November 1993 in response to Israeli preference for the F-15I Eagle. The F-16ES featured additional fuel in one 1,136 liter (300 US gallon; 250 Imp gallon) centerline tank and two wing tanks, each 2,271 litre (600 US gallons; 500 Imp gallons), as well as two conformal tanks. The combat radius extended to in excess of 1,000 nautical miles (1,852 km; 1,151 miles). The F-16ES was not purchased at that time, but the conformal tanks were developed as retrofit option for existing F-16s. Anyhow you guys can always correct me if I am wrong! That is the purpose of a forum right?;) I almost forget the typhoon … Ef-2000 (Typhoon) Ferry range (Überführungsreichweite): 3700 km (2000 NM)

Ok let’s take Iran as a mission example (Hypothetical:D ). Iran is the seventeenth-largest country in the world. Its area roughly equals the size of the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Germany combined, one-fifth the size of the United States or roughly the size of the state of Alaska. Maximum range does matter.

My guess is that the flanker frame was more resistant at high speed turning (read 1.7+ Mach at 18 degrees) and that the two-seat F-15D couldn't keep up in a steep climbing turn with the Su using full afterburner because of this. Note that fighters like Mirage2k or ef2k with delta-wings have also advantage while doing maximum speed turns (= different from optimal speed turns which is doing the fastest 360 degree turn). My guess is that due to a more efficient aerodynamic airframe the flanker can have more maximum high speed G-turns probably like the F-15C single seat version. This or the F-15 pilot f*cked up his tail chase.:D

I love it! Santa made a nice kill there by shooting down that viper :D -
F-35 Lightning II has 1× Pratt & Whitney F135 afterburning turbofan, (43,000 lbf w/AB, 28,000 lbf dry; 191 kN w/AB, 128 kN dry) that is a nice engine but let compare the F-35 specifications with some other strikers/fighters: F-35 Lightning II Range 1200 nautical miles on internal fuel (~2222 km on internal fuel) Maximum speed: Mach > 1.6 (Mach 1.8 est.) (1,200 mph, 1930 km/h) F-16C Block 30: Range: 3,200+ km The Su-30MKI has a range of 3,000 km with internal fuel which ensures a 4.5 hour combat mission F-15E Strike Eagle: Maximum speed: Mach 1.2, 900 mph at low altitude; Mach 2.5, 1,650 mph at high altitude (1,450 km/h / 2,655 km/h) Range: 2,500 miles ferry with internal fuel tanks, 3,450 miles ferry with external fuel tanks and conformal fuel tanks (4,023 km / 5,552 km) Sukhoi Su-35: Range: 4,000 km (2,500 mi) Maximum speed: 2,450 km/h (1,520 mph) F-22 Raptor: Range: ferry 2,000 mi (3200 km) Conclusion: Poor range and slow maximum speed!:P

How about building a private home made SAM site in your garden to protect you against these unmanned spy planes which infringe your privacy. :P Anyway, this is a nice toy :pilotfly: . -

Ever Found A Mig 25? They did!
TucksonSonny replied to rekoal's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes it did, The MiG-25PD recorded the only Iraqi air-to-air kill of the Gulf War. It dropped an F-18C on the first night of the war--then went on to fire another missile at an A-6 and buzz an A-7, all while avoiding escorting F-14s and F-15s. An isolated incident? How about the single Iraqi Foxbat-E that eluded eight sweeping F-15s then tangled with two EF-111As, firing three missiles at the Ravens and chasing them off station. Unfortunately, the Ravens were supporting an F-15E strike, and the EF-111's retreat led to the loss of one of the Strike Eagles to a SAM. Oh BTW, the Foxbat easily avoided interception and returned safely to base. There's more. When F-15 pilots were fighting for the chance to fly sweeps east of Baghdad late in the war, itching for a chance to get a shot at an Iraqi running for Iran, they weren't expecting the fight that a pair of Foxbats put up. Two Foxbats approached a pair of F-15s, fired missiles before the Eagles could get off shots (the missiles were evaded by the Eagles), then outran those two Eagles, four Sparrows and two Sidewinders fired back at them. Two more Eagles maneuvered to cut the Foxbat's off from their base (four more Eagles tried, but were unable to effect an intercept), and four more Sparrows were expended in vain trying to drop the Foxbats. The Iraqis had a total of twelve MiG-25PDs at the beginning of the war, of which maybe half were operational at any given time. Imagine what trouble they would have caused if there had been more. The Foxbats, when well flown, proved capable of engaging allied fighters and avoiding them at will. Only the limitations of their weapons proved a problem. -

Indeed it is. The MiG-25 FoxBat recorded the only Iraqi air-to-air kill during the war. A Mig-25PD shot down an F/A-18 on the first night of the war. In another incident, an Iraqi Foxbat-E eluded eight American F-15's, firing three missiles at EF-111 electronic warfare aircraft and forcing them to abort their mission. In yet another incident, two MiG-25's approached a pair of F-15 Eagles, fired missiles (which were evaded by the F-15's), and then outran the American fighters. Two more F-15's joined the pursuit, and a total of ten air-to-air missiles were fired at the Foxbats, none could reach them. -

It was done before with about half of the stock of the mig-29A’s. BTW, more than a few went to Syria too. Guess how badly these folks hated the USA. -
Technically speaking the Soviet Union was NOT bankrupt but running out of cash while having no debts. Virtually the USA is almost bankrupt now and has all the trouble of the world to pay their debts.;) On the other hand private citizens and companies in the US are not...

A better 'democratic' R-27ET Poll ;)
TucksonSonny replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I want option 1 with realistic (better) ER’s!;) -
It is part of a tactic: ECM ON, 2xER’s, ECM OFF, 1xET, 1xR73 launched in this order gives almost 1 kill guaranteed! With this tactic you can have 2 kills. Anyway I prefer ECM ON, 2xER, ECM OFF, 1xER, 2xET, 2xR73. . There is no need to have more short leg IR-missiles and have less long range ER’s. If you try to lope 10 ET’s, the weight and the drag will result in a serious drawback. Anyhow I think the Su-30 can have 4 ET’s by default (or was that the Su-35/37 from my memory).

If you just think that you have seen it all! http://www.syn-ack.com/vvs504/stats/vvs504-player_stats_00190.shtml A new phenomenon enters upon one's online. Lady X was being team-killed by cannon. Have these people no shame, killing the only woman in their team. On the other hand maybe the whore cheated on him…:D -

Highest settings? You must be kidding right? Voodoo PC Omen Intel Core 2 Duo QX6800 @3.8Ghz / 2 x nVidia GeForce 8800GTX in SLI has about 18 FPS with highest settings!:D -
Talking about the Lockon timeframe: I guess we have to remove the aim-120C’s (should be 120B’s). BTW, the Su-30’s DO have R-77 in the same Lockon timeframe. And a lock using AWACS datalink with the Su-27 while having his radar OFF should be possible in the same timeframe.
