AIM120"C" and AIM9"M" TEST TEAM READ!
TucksonSonny replied to -razor-'s topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
On day 44 (Thursday, May 6, 1999) US officials ordered 176 more US Air Force and US Marines planes to the Balkan region, bringing the number of US planes in the campaign to more than 800. The planes included 18 A-10s, 18 F-16CJs, 36 F-15Es, 24 F/A-18s and up to 80 additional tanker planes. 800 was the number of US planes only. BTW, not included the USS Theodore Roosevelt with his F/A-18 Hornet squadrons (CVN 71) 28 F-14A Tomcat 24 F/A-18C Hornet 4 EA-6B Prowler 8 S-3B Viking 5 E-2C Hawkeye 2 C-2A Greyhound Transport -

So we are talking here about the first aim-120B kill in RL by a stoned Dutch. (BTW, in Belgium the majority speaks dutch but is not Dutch or smokes) Anyway D-Scythe is Canadian and will be offended if you call him a Yank :D -

About the 120C, Ok, little mistake there (it was a long time ago) Ok, that was AIM-120B and 3 Dutch F-16A’s (lockon did confuse me with the C version). 11 miles Ok, which is very very in visual range (read AA-11(R-73) Archer range) Not 15 but 11 miles: must be the 2 seconds delay problem. (Looks like the 120C in lomac is a little bit over modeled :music_whistling:) My point is still there (nothing came close) It is anyway funny 35219 NATO sorties flown versus what? 5 or 6 Mig-29A sorties? BTW, I am not a Yugo-dude: my country (Belgium) did contribute with 14 F-16’s. :music_whistling: Netherlands (20 F-16A’s) -

I remember from the conversation that the Serbian Mig-29 was flying very low with his radar off. Your strong F-15C radar wouldn’t have a better lock I guess.;) In lomac you push your buttom and your AMRAAM is flying away instantaneously. I remember from the event that after pushing the button on the HOTAS it was taking seconds before the AMRAAM came from his rails! Maybe an idea to model in BS (2 seconds delay after pushing the button) -

The number 3000 was rather the total for Iraq gulf war. Anyway I guess close to 800 allied fighters for the Yugo-war (230 fighter planes for the US alone) BTW, 35000 sorties were done. About the USAF pilot, I can’t find the forum anymore. I remember that I made a link for it in a post (in this forum) about a flame war between a NAVY pilot and a USAF pilot (the subject was the famous f-22 in the gun-pipper of a superbug). I can’t even find my post here or it was deleted! Anyway in that situation of the event we got 4 F-16’s vs 1 blind Mig-29A (1 AWACS with direct contact with 4 Dutch F-16's; read 24 x AIM-120C vs. nothing that came close) -

How about an air race at HL with 2 (or more) fighter jets of the same type (or not) Mission: Sukhumi-Razdolnoye (374 nm) Take-off together at Sukhumi and the first who land on Razdolnoye is the winner! You can make intermediate landings if you think you will need it :D ! Sukhumi (farthest base left on the map) Razdolnoye (farthest base right on the map) BTW, there is one rule: You can’t shoot down your opponent :D . -

First of all it was a miracle that it still was possible to have Iraqi or a Serbian Mig-29 airborne in these wars (a couple of blind mig-29’s against 3000+ amraam capable opponents). This mig-29 had NO R-77 or ET capability (no flankers too). Imagine going up at HL with your 30 F-15C’s against a couple of mig-29A’s (not mentioning the 3 AWACS planes supporting the NATO forces in these wars ). I know for a fact that it was very hard for a Dutch F-16 pilot to make a Mig-29 kill. Even with AWACS support the first F-16 pilot could not get a suitable lock with his AIM-120C and had to turn back. After another try by his wingman again there was no lock possible and finally close to 15 nm the lock was made and the kill was a fact (there was close contact between AWACS and these pilots during the operation). BTW, this was the first aim-120C kill by foreign allied pilot. You can read the full story at frugals. BTW, this Mig-29 pilot used his chute and could survive the war. On top of this a USAF pilot was telling on a public forum that they were spamming these AMRAAMS all over the place in the Yugo-war (forget about this 8 out of 10) -

What is your 3dMark06 score?
TucksonSonny replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There is also the fact that 99.9% of the games today and within next 2 year are single thread. Thus for all the duel core guys divide your CPU score by 2 and you got real lomac CPU performance. FX-55 @2.7Ghz has only 1024 cpu score 3dmark06 which is a disappointment FX-55 @2.8Ghz gives 1061cpu score 3dmark06 (100Mhz extra gives only 37 cpu score extra) But anyway this doesn’t reflect RL performance which is for my standards still acceptable in 16x12. Until something comes out with 2100+ CPU score for 1 single thread, I am not impressed and stay with my stuff. With the release of BS I will fly with 0xAA and 0xAF so that will help I guess :D . -
AIM120"C" and AIM9"M" TEST TEAM READ!

It was explained before but let us summarize again: That is why fighter planes have a G limiter (mostly 9G limit but they can pull harder: read 10-12G) The aircraft was tested for this reason and is supposed to be break proof under this limit. A Mirage 2000 for example could already pull about 11à12 G with no trouble. Of course humans would pass out long before the plane would break in 2 parts. Indeed the latest suits used by EF-2k pilots allow the pilot to take sustained G-turns at 9G without passing out. In the past it happens occasionally that an F-4 Phantom lost an engine while pulling too many G’s (of course it had no G limiter and the design was not yet optimized to pull many G’s). Remember: pulling x G = pulling x times your weight (mass) Pulling 9G at Mach 0.8 = pulling 9G at Mach 1.4. Anyway, I don’t know about the relation of the drag force factor with speed and altitude though but if it was a problem like you describe the G-limit would be set simply lower at these speeds. (The G-limiter is nothing more than a computer program that predicts the G’s that you would pull and will correct you if necessary) About falcon 4 allied force I will tell you something: Lockon FC fm’s are closer to the HFFM’s (High Fidelity Flight Models done by Maf-JP & Raptor-one) than the crappy fm’s from Falcon AF. Finally, if you want a realistic sim go fly the Su-25T (FC 1.12a)! -

I have a question: The Dell 30” 3007WFP requires a DVI dual-link graphics card that supports 2560x1600 resolution. I was wondering if there is already someone running lomac in this config? Just out of curiosity :D (I am in the middle of a new home construction and there is no way that I can afford this within 2 year from now anyway) The good news is that my old 6800Ultra has a dual DVI dual link but I am not sure of the max res. (On my old 10 year old Philips CRT of 21” I was capable of 2000x1500 ) -
I wonder what would happen if you skip 1 line by mistake! How about: - “if you survived target 5, go to target 6!” ;)

I have a friend who had once chat up a girl for playing falcon on her fast monster PC. Of course after a week she was wise enough to see the fraud and believe me, not only her PC was a monster. He was kicked out her house very quickly. :D -

Good reading, Just play Microsoft Age of Empires I, II (Age of Kings) and III (colonial ages) and you got world politics and tactics on a small scale. The one with the (most) resources can develop the best army at the moment and rules (read take away resources from others). It is important that you develop your army at the right time and thus don’t waste resources on a useless army when it is not needed. Afterwards your army would become obsolete very quickly. Coalitions change their relations with the more attractive partners. Partners with the (most) resources and/or with an immune power (if you can’t beat them, join them). I guess the Bush administration never played this game… TS.

I guess Poland has a more developed air force than Portugal (with Poland having f16 block 52+ together with the German mig29’s for a start) ;) -

Star in the Korean flag was corrected and ready for download in this thread (flipped in the right direction!) BTW, this old thread is timelier as ever! I wonder if the mig29S is capable of dropping nuke loads? I guess it can. -

WTF are you talking about? Is it something I missed in the 20 pages long post or is it just a joke that I don’t understand?
