  1. Why I have to be jealous? For not having an ugly raptor flying over my home maybe. My ass will be protected by 800 typhoons in the near future. Anyway it is a pity that my country is not yet participating in this great Euro fighter-project! With “F22 sucks” as a thread title is asking for trouble! I think Pilatoss do hate the raptor too but he is afraid to out himself and he is afraid to be called odd!:D About my life: it is kind of ok except the extra 50 000 euros that I still need to finish my crib ;) BTW, I am very proud too to have the best health care system in the world (Belgium) The only problem is that I have taken only 3 days in 14 years because I was sick (ill) so I guess the US system would suit me much better :D .
  2. I am active in the banking and insurance sector (real-time transactions all the time) Even your copy of FC 1.2a is a real-time system. For the moment I am on a project with c#2005/Oracle 10Gr2 (It is a pain believe me, especially these slow web services:D )
  3. Let face it: the real workhorse in the Yugo/Iraq wars was the F-16 and in smaller numbers the F-15 heavy supported by AWACS together with the EW aircrafts (electronic Warfare) and even then tons of cruise missiles were fired to do the job which was supposed to be done by F117/B2 (even the tactical nuclear stock was used for that, even the B52 came up). It was also kind of an embarrassing situation having the so stealth B2 surrounded by a shield of conventional fighters (not less than a tenfold) of all kind to protect it. Anyway the F-22 will be the first fighter plane ever who will rely for 100% on his computer. (If his main-computer shuts down the plane goes down) As being a programmer for about 14 years, I have my doubts, forgive me for that! Let’s hope his backup computer doesn’t works with a Sony battery. And maybe after the B2 and the F117 disaster this time the F-22 project will work.
  4. I love the way some of you adore the F-22 and whining about the immortality as it was the new God. Anyway it must be because it cost so much that our sorry butts (our US butts anyway) have to pay for the rest of their life to get out of debt. Either directly- or by virtue of the threat it presents by its very existence.;)
  5. I do understand every word because I am Flemish;) Bloemspruit = flower shoot (I am not sure about the translation in English of this one) Bloemfontein = flower fountain BTW, very nice pics...
  6. I am pretty sure if it was “successfully” used in combat we had known it already right? ;)
  7. I don’t believe that the F-22 was already used successfully in combat too!:D 1 versus 300 don’t count as successfully in combat (read Iraq/Yugo war) You are free to edit the “wikipedia” and delete all the lies if you can argument this!
  8. A product-improvement of the R-77 Adder is in the works, codenamed the R-77M1, and will feature a ramjet propulsion device. This heavier missile system will have a much greater range, and will surely be the primary beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air weapon in upcoming fifth generation Russian frontline fighters. The R-77 is also being developed to match developments abroad. The RVV-AE-PD (often referred to as the R-77M) is under development and has the four side fins replaced with ram jets. In addition to a new loft trajectory, it is expected to have a range exceeding 120km and limited primarily by the launch platform's radar. source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-77_AA-12_Adder ;)
  9. The F22 have to compete against new R-77 Ramjet and Meteor Ramjet missile capable fighters while having no ramjet missiles itself in the near future. The only reason why the F22 was developed in the first place was to beat the S-300 AAA in the cold war era and even in that category it did not make it. :smartass: @pilatoss, I have a little experiment for you: Take a plastic model of the Su-27/35 whatever and throw it in the air. Next take a plastic model of the raptor made in the same scale and throw it in the air. If you did the experiment properly you would see that the raptor hit the ground a lot faster than the Su -model! (even a brick-model would fly better than the raptor model )
  10. To make a long story short: The F-35 is the NATO called FAG-35 and GAY-35 is the Russian nickname! It is anyway more stealth than the F-22 except the pink dot showing up on the radar from 69 miles away. I hope this helps, :megalol: Ok, guys don’t take it seriously I was having this afternoon a barbecue-party and had too much beer anyhow…:holiday: TS,
  11. Faces Of War (RTS) Great stuff for modders like me anyway:D
  12. Also, if all the online kamikaze pilots would stay out the ET’s No Escape Zone (-15 km) would we even are having this debate? The missile is just fine!
  13. At the moment I would go Conroe but since yesterday AMD Slashes Dual-Core Processor Prices In Half: - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+: 57% reduction - Low-end 3800+: price drops 50% to $152. - High-end AMD64 FX-62 : price drops 20% (from $1,031 to $827) http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1993576,00.asp :bounce:
  14. For the first time in 2 year my CPU motherboard heat alarm was working (manually set on 60°C). The 6800Ultra was hitting 70°C after 2 à 3 hours of gaming. The good news is that with FC my pc runs about 7°C cooler than with AOEIII which is a nasty CPU/GPU cooker. It was about 32°C in Belgium and last week I had to return home with my bike in a temperature of 36°C (I travel each day 60km to the office with the bike). The bad news is that forecast for next week is again +30°C.
  15. Anyway the foam on the water could be done with DX8 I guess! :D
  16. Negative, not fake at all! It was mentioned on that website that the second picture was rendered but 100% true DX10 material. Of course you need a rendering farm for that (multiple computers are running for hours to render just 1 minute of movie)
  17. The mig29 has only 1 drawback against the F-15. It has less fuel thus less range and as a result it can not use AB as long as you can! My tactic would be: play the bait and run. The mig29 will start a pursuit. At a certain point the Mig will run out of fuel and have to turn back to his base. At this point you turn on him and finish him. It is not a pretty tactic and a little bit cowardly but it is so effective. Of course, this tactic works also for the Su vs. Mig!
  18. Thanks for the info but 2 posts before your post I figured out that a 980-mm antenna could never fit inside a Mig29 anyway. BTW, the official explanation by the Phazotron-NIIR Corporation about the antennas of the Zhuk-ME radars: Zhuk-ME comes with a Standard 624 mm in diameter antenna (antennas of any other diameter are also possible with respective changes in the maximum operating range). Depending on user requirements.
  19. I have no source found yet but I think too that the Mig29SMT would have the standard 624 mm antenna.
  20. No but the ka-52 does have the arbalet radar: http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/aircraft_pages/ka-52.htm :pilotfly:
  21. Zhuk-ME is equipped with a phased array antenna 980-mm: - head-on targets: 150 km - targets in pursuit: 60 - 65 km - the radar’s tracking range is 0.83 to 0.85 of target acquisition range, while the target acquisition range in close-in combat is 15 to 18 km
  22. I don’t know about the old radar from post-Soviet radar but MiG-29 and Su-27 use the same Zhuk-ME radar. As a result both planes have the same ECM capability. Over the past few years, Phazotron-NIIR has built five radars for various types of aircraft with the use of standard units and devices. These are: -Kopyo-21, an airborne radar for the MiG-21 aircraft; -Zhuk-MSE, an airborne radar for the Su-30 MKZ aircraft; -Zhuk, an airborne radar for the F-8IIM aircraft; -Arbalet, an airborne radar for the Ka-50 and Ka-52 helicopters. -Zhuk-ME radar intended for the mid-class MiG-29 SMT2 à The Zhuk-ME radar’s design provides for installation in the MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft. About the post-Soviet radars (modelled by ED) you and GG are right.
  23. The AMD trick is rather shutting down core 2 programmatically while overclock the first core. (2 cores can’t run on max OC because of heat) Programmatically core 2 starts up again if necessary and core 1 will run again on a lower OC speed. I don’t know what kind of programs that you write but except for launching a print-job or an export (another thread can do the job while the main program don’t have to wait for this) of data but I can’t see why 1 single business application needs multithreads for. With a game/sim it is another story. 2 multithreaded modules using the same memory without blocking each other is a hard job for the programmer (for example an AI logic module running on 2 threads).
  24. The AB effect is done very nice in that mig-picture anyway! BTW, the heat blur effect is only visible with speeds under 400 kts like it must be in RL.
