What works for me in the DCS Mudhen is 2 units of dead zone and +10 curve on the relevant axis. I apply it to both pitch and roll. My stick has an extension and cams that remove the center notch. I use stiff springs, but there is still enough leverage and weight that the stick will move in a light wind or by breathing I assume that someone with a short, light, stick, like a Saitek, would have shorter throws and a completely different tune than mine. One size most definitely doesn't fit all. I've noticed that there are big differences in pitch sensitivity from a light to heavy F-15E. That seems correct. For a while I didn't know to hold the trim button until light/audible warning. All these things combined, I'm in my happy place now.

I find it extremely easy to land. It's very gentle in the flare. Lots of lift available. A fine flying machine.

It seems like the only time I've had an issue with ALT HLD it when trying to engage it when the VV is more than 3 to 5 units off of the horizon bar.

The BRAKEHOLD switch is only needed if the alignment is interrupted. Page 62 of the manual states that the BRAKE HOLD switch is a signal to begin re-alignment after an alignment interruption. IME, if the chocks are in, the a/c doesn't move, and coordinates are either in the ME or correctly entered in the UFC, alignment will be successful. Question: with chocks in, is the BRAKEHOLD switch even needed during startup? I don't see it listed in the manual startup guide, nor in Notso's video. In the manual it's mentioned in the before takeoff checklist. In the checklist I am using, it's shown in the before start checks, but IME it doesn't work without electrical power, in other words, after engine start.

For the A-10 and F/A-18C, but I haven’t seen one for the Mudhen yet. Maybe WinWing will do what they did for the Hornet.

P-51 and TF-51 nose down trim does not work
Chipwich replied to Vita_CZ's topic in Bugs and Problems
Glad that you found the solution. Can you edit your post topic title to reflect that it is not a bug? Otherwise, you are wasting everyone's time reading this. Thanks. -
There is an option in the control setup for fully extend or retract.

Nicely done Reflected. I heard a few stories from my fighter pilot dad of similar antics. Made for a good O club debrief.

Yeah, as you mentioned, VAICOM doesn't work with the Spitfire. A nice chap named Baily has made a good VoiceAttack profile for many aircraft, including the Spit. I mostly just use it for the coms menu, preferring to manage aircraft systems with my HOTAS, but that is there if you need it.

DMAS Version autonomous self lasing - Pave Spike / Pave Tack
Chipwich replied to AvroLanc's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
It's been a while since my dad passed, but from memory of the discussions we had about his flying F-4Es out of Ubon in '72-'73 (335th and 336th TFS), the Knife pod was buddy lased and the Spike was WSO lased. They used both Knife and Spike to great effect. I see photos of airplanes with and without slats. None with TISEO though. I'll keep looking. -
Hey Greg, this is more of a question than a complaint, since you usually do your homework. Just curious why to chose not to put the heading and distance on the briefing maps, and instead use a compass overlay? I'm assuming that this is the way it was briefed, and perhaps pilots of this era used landmarks and the heading was understood to be a general guideline. Still, if I were to have access to a time machine, the retentive side of me would be looking for a plotter and grease pencil for my cockpit map

Yes, in fact it works fine in most missions, but there is something the Reflected does the either VAICOM or VA doesn't like. For instance, exit the campaign and launch any instant action mission and it works fine. I'm not saying that Reflected is doing something wrong, it's just that the VAICOM has issue. It's like the aircraft doesn't have power and the radios are not powered on. But they are.

Yeah, I’m trying to use VAICOM with Reflected’s Paradise Lost campaign and the F10 menus don’t show when VoiceAttack\VAICOM is running. I tried troubleshooting it for a couple of days, setting a custom path and checking the Registry, but no joy. As soon as I shutdown VA, the coms menu normally, either by key command or pressing a button on my VPC HOTAS. Strange, because I got through Fear the Bones in January fine. Windows11 — latest updates. No problems otherwise.

One of the issues that I've run into in the Paradise Lost Campaign is that VAICOM Pro is hiding the F10 menu, even though Configuration > Preferences > Disable menus is unchecked. As soon as I shut down VA, the menus come back. It's not that big of a deal flying the Huey, but in FTB, I really needed it with Jester. I don't think that it's a problem with either campaign, but rather with VAICOM or Voice Attack.

What does "fix reg" do exactly? I know that it "fixes the registry", but what does it consider broken and how does it fix it? I never fly the production version, only the openbeta. I'm trying to determine why some of Reflected's campaign missions don't have an in-game radio menu, neither via the keyboard command nor options. The stock missions do. Thanks.

Mission 1 - How to take off from Company HQ?
Chipwich replied to unlikely_spider's topic in UH-1H Paradise Lost Campaign
I've had good luck getting out the left corner, which is not too far off of the different wind directions, easing the collective just enough to clear obstacles, while building forward speed. What I'd really like to know, how to blast off straight up like the AI do, as if they have booster rockets, LOL. -
UH-1H Paradise Lost Campaign Info
Chipwich replied to Reflected's topic in UH-1H Paradise Lost Campaign
That's a cool idea, and might try that time permitting. I've got plenty of Doors, Hendrix, Clapton, Zeppelin, and the like on CD to roll one of my own In the meantime, a couple of good ones from YouTube Music. I guess that there is a web player for Apple Music too. https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCGcelpRfnj6NvkwlP1SD15Dlu6N-MvIj&feature=share https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlQBlCqsBeEZROj8X3nFuZ7LIOn_nB3zk&feature=share -
I began this campaign shortly after release, but not long after, became very distracted by work responsibilities and kids home schooling with C19. I've been out of the Hornet since then, but diving back in. It appears that the F/A-18C has added a bunch of functionality, so I'm curious, what air to ground weapons are used in this campaign? I read the Guide which stated that you need competency with the TGP, but if it's not a spoiler, it would be great to know exactly what I'll be dropping on the bad guys. -Cheers

Mission 14 - Bug? *** Spoiler ***
Chipwich replied to CrispyRoboChicken's topic in F-14A Fear the Bones Campaign
I just flew it and can confirm that it's working. -
Completely agree with the Tacview usage, although my flights have been anything but monotonous. Being a Tomcat noob, it's easy to get behind the airplane and rest of the mission when getting shot into complete darkness, never mind having missiles being chucked at you. My Tacview reviews are pretty funny, looking at how many times I escape death from either ignorance or dumb luck. Then in the off chance that I survive and make it back to the boat, getting ridiculed by both an unforgiving LSO and an indignant RIO is a nice thank you for your effort. I'm having a blast. Really

@Reflected just watched your YouTube update regarding this. Fantastic news. Thanks so much for the huge effort made updating the missions. Going to jump back into BNBOB and fly a few of those missions again as soon as I am finished with FTB. -Cheers

I can’t get enough of the Tomcat right now so this is very good news Reflected. Thank you for keeping the pedal to the metal.
