and who pray tell me is the ultimate world authority on silly nomenclature IP rights? The greedy lawyers at Grumman & Boeing? Just because they can write a threatening letter doesn't mean they are right. You ave an example up top where a US judge threw a case out of court. It will be interesting to see if LN will do the F-14. I still remember very well the Pacific Fighters fiasco with the letter from Grumman and ubisoft dumping the problem onto Oleg & 1C.

Hi, I have a question regarding the use of ground power and the start up procedure. If I elect to ask the chief to turn on ground power, do I need to use the APU at all for the start up? thanks for info!

whats worth IP rights when the company that's selling the product is in a country that doesn't recognize silly nomenclature IP rights? If you can't be sued then its not an issue anymore. There you go. solved. no? ;):smartass::thumbup:

How do you know that the published speed of 2100 to 2700 kph is the maximum attainable speed while its rocket motor is still running or at the moment of rocket engine cut? Most air to ground weapons with propolsion constantly accelerate to the point of their rocket engine cut out and that is labeled their terminal velocity (what you wrote as vmax). In this and many other cases weapons' terminal velocity do benefit from the launching platform speed at moment of launch. Cheers

Sources on the web point out that the Kh-66 terminal velocity is between 2160 to 2700 kph. Variance between 2160 to 2700 kph probably to account for variance in air density and angle of flight parameters. Assuming an extreme example of a launch occurring at near sea level with a very shallow angle of flight between launching platform and target: The Mig-21bis Vne is 1300 kph IAS and the Kh-66 should accelerate to at least 2160 kph by the time of rocket engine burn out. interesting find. thanks.

Very nice!!!! Seems ED modeled very nicely the shaking and some dynamic inertia throwing you off to the side a bit when the nose comes back down. How does the inertia model feel in general? extreme high alpha and post departure behavior convincing? Can't wait to get home & try this out for myself! Thanks!

Come on lets see who will be the first to post a video of themselves doing a perfect Pugachev Cobra with their brand new Su-27 flight dynamics! :joystick::pilotfly::D

Hi all, Question regarding the two power levers next to the collective of the captain's seat (position number 1). I understand each lever is for each engine, and there are 3 power settings. I would like to understand why on the highest power setting there is an automatic reduction relationship going on with the throttle grip when I raise the collective. Even more baffling is that when I lower back down the collective the throttle remains reduced, and I have to manually throttle up (no opposite relationship). This does not happen in the middle (default) power setting. The throttle remains at 100% throughout the travel of the collective. Here are my questions: 1. Can somebody please explain how and when I should be using the power levers? 2. When using the high power settings why is there a throttle reduction when raising the collective? does it have something to do with the torque / gear box limitations? if yes, where can I see this? 3. Still in the high power setting when I lower the collective back down why no opposite effect with the throttle? (not rising back up) 4. Should I be monitoring EGT when using the high power setting? is overheating engines in the damage model? can I expect an engine fire? Thanks in advance!

New Trailer for Chuck's Youtube Channel
ViFF replied to Charly_Owl's topic in Screenshots and Videos
beautiful!!! thank you for this! -
Voted: Increase far dot size and add a metal glare. DavidRed's post that he linked is very informative. From 4 km and onwards a P-51 is represented by a very small 3d object that is transparent when viewed from below or when banking at an angle that would be a "belly view" from 3rd person perspective. Cheers

Hi. Sorry to be negative, but to me this was a very shallow video that lacked any sort of detail about the Su-25T and was nowhere near "diving in the depths of simulation flight" that you stated above. It was neither a review nor an overview. 11:37 There is no such thing as "Under G" . Possibly you wanted to say "Negative G" ? BTW - are you flying with the keyboard there? Sorry I don't mean to offend you, but if you check on You Tube you will find videos on DCS in general and on the Su25T in particular that are much more representing and detailed. If this is a video aimed at introducing DCS World to the Metal Gear & BF4 crowd then that's another matter and I thank you for your effort. Cheers

OPERATION SUMMER RAIN - MULTIPLAYER DYNAMIC CAMPAIGN
ViFF replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
The MiG-21bis is available for both sides, so this really isn't an issue. The blue MiG 21s will be "swiped away" by Su-27s armed with off-boresite capable R-73s just as easily (if not more) then what you explain that the F-15C can do it. But ofcourse I am all for having the full air to air arsenal that is available in the MiG 21 module, including the semi-active radar guided missiles. S! -
OPERATION SUMMER RAIN - MULTIPLAYER DYNAMIC CAMPAIGN
ViFF replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Hi DanielNL, The Su-25T is available for both sides. Regarding the listing that is just stats from one of the previous stress test missions, nothing to do with the upcoming campaign. You should check that you are listed on http://www.anon6.com/team on the red side. Cheers, -
After seeing this I am just asking: are spent shell cases objects being tracked during MP sessions? If the answer is yes, please I ask what is the reasoning. IMHO there is no need for this. It only increases server load and other negative experiences during online play, limiting the max number of clients that can be fighting together online. Thank you for your consideration!

The current state of air unit visibility (or lack thereof) needs to be addressed smartly. This should be looked at for all the air units, human flyable and AI, not just the P-51. I really hope ED does an overhaul on this whole concept of using the "ld_tec.edm", at what range the unit becomes a simple 3d box, and make the specific adjustment for each aircraft size. For example the representing "ld_tec.edm" of a B-52 bomber should be larger and visible much further away then lets say that same of the MiG-21. FWIW I like the idea that RonyS suggested: Cheers.

Thank you for this information! Is there any way we can control and edit the lod transition distances on the server side in multiplayer sessions? Thanks for any info about this...

You've definitely found some water underneath that bunker there! ;)

Voted for realistic option. I want to do it like Dolphin887 did it. :)

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)
ViFF replied to topol-m's topic in Military and Aviation
Yes it was an Su-24 that was probably on the way to bomb A-Nusrah rebel positions in the area of Kunetrah. Says the Patriot was fired because it entered Israeli airspace, but the crash site is now confirmed outside Israeli borders in the area of Kunetrah. If the pilots manage to survive and eject I doubt they will survive the rebel reception on the ground... another 2 decapitation videos soon to be uploaded to youtube :( RIP... or hope to hear the pilots chute's floated westward across the border to Israel... thats their best chance to survive. -
Hi Maler, Eekz, Was very good flying on your server last night. Well built mission and very good briefing, was very informative and added to the atmosphere :) Hope to see some more soon! S!

Plus existing P-51D Mustang makes it 6 flyables. S!

Indeed it should not be misinterpreted. I would just like to know if ED plan to release some serious and useful tools for map building and if they are aware that it is in their benefit to do so. S! ps- love your sig! :)

+1 Write me on the side that says there is no such thing as a half assed map. Who says you have to go down to the detail of every single house and building and street? thats insane and a waste of time. There is a gigantic resource of manhours in this community that is simply being left untapped. People who are willing to put in their time voluntarily and create maps for the sake of creating maps to enrich the experience of their communities, not for the sake of making a profit! For the life of me I can't understand why this is being ignored. The best example is IL2 Sturmovik 1946 with its very very limited flexibility and texture and memory constraints for map making. Yet some of the most beautiful and detailed maps were all user created. People like Oknivas, Jiri, Gilb, Redko are truly gifted individuals and have the time on their hands to do the work. Look at all these maps available for IL2 1946 with HSFX Mod: http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/il2/Maps/visualisation7/map_visu_alpha.html In IL2 1946 you have the HSFX Mod that can be simply turned on or off with the JSGME has some of the most beautiful maps like Battle of Moscow by Oknivas, Spain maps by Jiri.
