  1. I see the Jug is 1944 era P-47D-40 late war jug with the dorsal fin extension for added stability and rocket pylons which is good! the dive recovery flaps will also come in handy! As for the Spitfire.... MH434 is an 1943 variant of the Spitfire Mk.IXc :( Whats going to be the engine rating? will it be allowed to +25Lbs Boost pressure I hope? I really hope it will be modeled with the Rolls-Royce Merlin 66 running on 150 Octane fuel, +25 lbs/in^2 boost for it have any chance of being competitive with the Fw190D9 and Me109K... Thanks for the update!
  2. Oh its definitely Hebrew! you can be sure of that. Written in free hand font. In regular Hebrew script it would look like: .עלא אלאערג מ.מ We can't understand what it means because its most likely shortened acronym of something the pilot wanted to remember, and the last two are probably the initials of the pilot who wrote this message (M.M.). Anyhow its a good idea to have that conversion table on an area that is otherwise empty. Please keep it :) Cheers
  3. many pony pilots will be crying tonight!!!
  4. "-L" meaning "Fishbed-L" MiG-21bis (Izdeliye 75A; NATO "Fishbed-L") Lazur-equipped version with a slightly different avionics package exported to some Warsaw Pact countries. In Bulgaria and East Germany these were designated MiG-21bis-Lazur. ?
  5. Hi rajdary, The defensive system used by Israel is called "Iron Dome", and it is a land based system... way too big to fit an an airplane, even a big one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_dome It is the result of a marriage between IAI/Elta's ELM2084 AESA ground based radar (and its a big unit mounted on a flatbed truck) and the rest of the system including command modules, launching modules and interceptor missiles from Rafael. The Iron Dome is effective against rockets -not- missiles. The distinction being that when a rocket is fired there are no changes to its trajectory, so the radar can predict a good intercept solution for the interceptor, and the interceptor's on-board radar guides it in the last few hundred meters until intercept of the rocket. A missile however, has the ability to change its course during flight making interception by another missile very very very difficult. Israel currently has 8 or 9 batteries that are giving good results against the rockets fired by Hamas. The financial justification for using a 30 thousand dollar interceptor against a puny rocket that may cost less then 100 dollars is that the system does not fire at every single rocket that is fired, but rather only on those that their trajectory is computed and predicted that will drop into the protection zone. Rockets that are predicted by the Elta radar that they will fall outside areas that need to be protected (residential areas, high value assets, etc) are not intercepted. Cheers!
  6. Enjoyed every second of flying and tanking :) Thank you Greg, Xcom, Injerin & BigGinger for making this a very enjoyable and challenging campaign! S!
  7. Wait a second. On ED forum in http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=112433 there is an anouncement that RRG, ED, and The fighter Collection are starting a kickstarter campaign called "DCS WWII: Europ 1944" MOSCOW, Russia – September 1, 2013 - Legendary flight simulation designers Ilya Shevchenko, Igor Tishin, and Matt Wagner are excited to announce an upcoming Kickstarter campaign... On the Kickstarter page of this project it says the following: Funded! This project was successfully funded on October 5, 2013. A few weeks ago the creator was fired, and ED assumed control of the project and even hired some of the team from RRG and ED has confirmed that the project will be completed and shipped, albeit with a new delivery schedule. On the Kickstarter website it also says: Is a creator legally obligated to fulfill the promises of their project? Yes. Kickstarter's Terms of Use require creators to fulfill all rewards of their project or refund any backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill. This is what creators see before they launch This information can serve as a basis for legal recourse if a creator doesn't fulfill their promises. We hope that backers will consider using this provision only in cases where they feel that a creator has not made a good faith effort to complete the project and fulfill. Has ED really taken into account that they may be liable to legal recourse from Kickstarter (and probably Amazon) if they don't fullfil their promises? I would probably define "promises" as delivering the value tagged assets (the additional DCS Level Airplane Modules) to those backers that they were promised to. Meaning that the 40 dollar and above backers should receive all the airplanes. Myself I am a backer invested with more then 100 dollars so it really doesn't bother me, but many of the people in my community went in at 40 dollars expecting to receive the whole planeset including the stretch goals. I hope ED has taken this into account.
  8. The campaign is designed that there there are only a few fighter slots, because these type of air superiority fighters can have a very big impact on a wide area. Air to air engagements between attacking aircraft of opposing sides do occur, but not too common, as there are two separate fronts, and both are quite large. Go ahead and register to the ANON6 community website as per the 1st post by Mastiff. Slots are requested on the assignment page of the campaign by pre-registration and final assignment is confirmed by the side commander, briefings and other correspondence on the forum. Come to the teamspeak, get to know the people you'll be flying with, etc, etc... its a social event after all... :smoke: S!
  9. Ciao Gaanalma, The server is rock solid with 40 clients flying and using Combined Arms. I am one of the CA ground commanders for the Blue Side and we are having tons of fun setting up SAM traps and trying to gain territory / objectives with our armored forces. I haven't had this much fun in pvp ground combat since WW2OL  One interesting aspect of this campaign is the pilot rescue script. Anytime somebody bails out a 3d object of a downed pilot is created at the bail out location for rescue by UH-1 or Mi-8. Until said pilot is rescued the same slot for his aircraft is locked! so if no rescue chopper is sent to retrieve the pilot this can have a big impact if its a high value asset like a slot for an F-15 or Su-27. So for example there are 4 slots for the air superiority fighters for each side (4x F-15 for Blue / 4x Su-27 for Red) and each slot is scripted to become locked when its respective aircraft gets shot down. The slot becomes active again only if the bailed pilot is rescued by a UH-1 or Mi-8. This promotes some very serious flying and great efforts on the part of the F-15 / Su-27 pilots to keep their airframes safe and RTB frequently. We are seeing now that they approach combat very carefully, wait for their wingmen, frequently use dedicated GCI guidance from the CA clients, etc. Another plus is that we finally see clients using the transport helicopters. Their utilization is very high in this campaign due to the urgent need for rescuing downed pilots and troops insertions at objectives. One more item worth mentioning is no AIM-120 or R-77 missiles, only semi-active radar missiles for both sides :smilewink: You are most welcome to bring the 36th STV. Registration to the campaign is handled through the ANON6 community website: http://www.anon6.com/forum/m/13804678/viewthread/12372298-operation-caucasus-blizzard-overview http://www.anon6.com/signup6 Cheers,
  10. plasma generators? :suspect:
  11. ahh... so the Dora used the Motorbediengetriebe - MBG which essentially does the same or similar to the Kommandogerat... you learn something new everyday...
  12. The Fw 190's engine was controlled by a Kommandogerat system that automatically controlled the RPM, fuel mixture, ignition timing, supercharger switchover, and boost pressure, all on one handle. So no separate levers for controlling prop pitch, fuel mixture, supercharger stage, etc. Just like in a jet... Kurt Tank Technology :)\ pic of Kommandogerat system:
  13. PAGE24: The first confirmed F-15 loss were suffered on May 13 and 14 of 1981. As the Israelis advanced deeper into Lebanon, Syrian a 2K12 Kvadrat mobile surface-to-air missile system shot down two F-15As. The debris from one of them were shown on TV. This is incorrect. The IAF has never lost any F-15s and any F-16s in combat. Also, regardless of what the Syrians or Pakistani may claim, the IAF never lost any Fighter Jets in Air to Air Combat in the Lebanon War. PAGE 26: Data on Israeli Air Force losses is fuzzy. Syrians claimed 42 Israeli aircraft shot down, including at least five F-15s, as well as 1 or 2 unmanned aerial vehicles. Israelis claim that not a single F-15 was lost and no contradictory evidence has indicated otherwise. That is incorrect. Data on the Israeli Air Force losses is most definitely not fuzzy. The information is readily available on the internet and on the IAF website. Israeli society is an open and self critical society that do not "hide" war losses, especially when there is loss of life involved. There is also a quite a large DCS Israeli community that can assist if Belsimtek have any question regarding historical facts/data/accounts of the IAF. Here is a good link to the IAF losses database: http://myplace.frontier.com/~anneled/IAFinventory.html There were only three Fighter Jet Losses of the IAF in the 1982 Lebanon War and they were all related to anti aircraft: 24.07.1982 1x F-4E shot down by SA-6 while attacking SA-8 units. The pilot Gil Fogel ejected safely then POW, but the navigator Aharon Katz was KIA probably as result of ejection. 20.11.1983 1x Kfir C2 shot down by Palestinian or Syrian AAA near Beirut. The pilot Miki Lev managed to nurse the airplane Westwards out to sea before his hydraulics were gone and left him with no way to control the Kfir. Upon realizing he could not control his airplane anymore he immediately ejected, but even though he had crossed the coast out to sea, the prevailing westerly winds pushed his parachute back onto the Lebanese coast, landing inland near the shore just South of Beirut. Luckily for him he was captured by one of the Christian Phalangist armed groups (on the same coalition with Israel), and returned to Israel lines on the very same day. 06.06.1982 1x A4E Skyhawk shot down by Palestinian AAA. The pilot Aharon Achiaz was POW for two months and released during first prisoner exchange. There is however one account during the Lebanon war of an F-15 landing back at base and during the post flight walk around inspection was discovered some light damage to its left afterburner can. It is believed to be damage from a MANPADS SA-7 shoulder launched IR missile, rather then an air to air missile. PAGE23: Another MiG was damaged, but the pilot managed to make it to the Rayak Air Base in Libya You probably mean LEBANON. Libya is too far away... Please correct the manual :) :book: :music_whistling:
  14. There are many mistakes in this manual....
  15. and if anything most if not all the avionics and electronics and all the design knowledge and hands on engineering work for the creation of this airplane was supplied by IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries), so they should realy be doing the Kfir, which is the de-facto operational fighter jet this airplane is modelled after ;)
  16. oh my goodness.. 100 dollar backer here.... I'm like a kid in a big toy store... I don't know what to choose... :)
  17. +1! :)
  18. Just got mine! Thanks Ilya! S!
  19. Waiting for my P-51 key also. Sent a PM to Ilya. No response so far...
  20. Calibrated Airspeed (CAS) is most of the time just a small correction to your IAS, taking into account the measuring error of the instruments and some small adjustments for relative humidity, side wind and during transition to supersonic speed where the shock wave can affect the precision of the measuring instrument and the way the air enters the pitot tube. This is all in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calibrated_airspeed Cheers
  21. No stick shaking due to stall buffeting and I love it!!! IMHO it was never ever realistically modeled in any FFB joystick anyhow! Leave it out I say. Instead just add an increasing in volume sound of the turbulent air as it moves forward from teh trailing edge along the chord from the beginning of the stall to the point of fully developed stall/departure/separation of the boundry layer. Thank you ED :) Another good thing I want to point out is that the MS SW2 FFB does not go limp after I shut down DCS P-51D. Haven't tested yet with FC3... will advise tonight. Cheers!
  22. Hi Thor, We also fly SEOW Campaigns with the 102nd_Yu Squadron and the Italian Squadrons. Right now we are flying Murmansk Campaign (East Front 1943'ish) on Monday and Thursday. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers, ViFF
  23. Hi 159th_Viper et all, Another problem with the MSFF2 is that after DCS is shut down the stick goes completely limp, with no "return to center" default force that is used for titles that do not use the force feedback functions. DCS does not release the force feedback functions back to the OS after it exits. Win 7 64 bit here. S!
  24. Just to be precise in terms of historical time lines, your country was overrun and conquered by the Germans a good 2 years before the Fw190 entered operational service.
