F-100D Development Report The F-100D Super Sabre is a renowned supersonic fighter-bomber that served with the United States Air Force during the Cold War era. As part of the ongoing development efforts for DCS, the F-100D module aims to provide authenticity and immersion whilst flying this iconic aircraft. To achieve this, Grinelli Designs has collaborated with enthusiasts and members of the Collings Foundation, who granted them access to an exceptionally well-preserved F-100, which has been extensively scanned and photographed. Utilizing advanced 3D scanning technologies and photogrammetry we have obtained precise measurements, shapes, and textures of the exterior and cockpit. All data was then processed and refined before being sent to our 3D art team to be used as accurate reference for modeling & texturing. The following areas were addressed to enhance the F-100D Super Sabre module: Exterior Model: Detailed photography serves as the foundation for creating an accurate exterior model of the F-100D. This included refining the aircraft's overall shape, panel lines, surface details, and textures. The goal was to recreate the iconic appearance of the Super Sabre with the utmost fidelity, allowing users to appreciate its unique design features. Cockpit Model: The 3D scans provide invaluable references for recreating the F-100D's cockpit. Every switch, knob, gauge, and control panel can be meticulously replicated to reflect the real-world counterpart. The integration of accurate cockpit lighting and functional elements further adds to the immersive experience of operating the aircraft. Sound Design: To complement the visual and flight model improvements, the development team additionally recorded a multitude of sounds from the cockpit enhancing the audio experience associated with the F-100D Super Sabre. Current Progress: The current development progress of the F-100D module is steadily moving forward, with the module currently in a flyable state. We have made significant progress in various areas, including the flight model, engine, fuel and hydraulic systems, which are currently undergoing alpha testing. Additionally, we are actively testing and refining the core systems of the aircraft, such as electrical, radio, radio navigation, TACAN, oxygen, lighting, IFF, seek silence, and base weapon systems. These systems are being fine tuned to ensure their functionality and authenticity in the aircraft. Comprehensive testing allows us to identify and address any issues or improvements necessary to deliver an immersive F-100D experience to the community. Future Development: The integration of 3D scans has significantly improved the accuracy and fidelity of the F-100D Super Sabre module in DCS World. However, our commitment to ongoing development means that there are still further improvements to be made. Our future plans include: Continuously refining and optimizing the exterior and cockpit models based on feedback from the community and subject matter experts. Fine-tuning the flight model to ensure a more realistic and enjoyable flight experience. Weapon system implementation and integration. Expanding the available liveries and customization options to provide a wider range of visual variations. Collaborating with real F-100D pilots and experts to incorporate their insights and knowledge into the module's development. Bye Phant

South Atlantic Development Report We are excited to share that DCS: South Atlantic is receiving significant enhancements. Our partners, Razbam, have been actively developing and supporting the map, and we will soon be launching a major update. This update will bring various improvements, including a major technology change for city blocks throughout the entire map. New points of interest (POIs) for cities, starting with Punta Arenas and Port Stanley have been added. Razbam are now using new city block models that are in line with the region's aesthetic. Additionally, they have made significant adjustments to tree distribution that aims to eliminate repetitive patterns across the map. The roads in all cities have undergone a major revamp, with new textures, models, and layouts. Rural areas have also received attention with the addition of new villages across the map. Furthermore, we have introduced a deep water port for Rio Grande, and completely reworked Port Stanley and Goose Green from the ground up. Bye Phant

Developing DCS: F-4E has been a uniquely challenging experience, as we've undertaken a complete rewrite of our entire technology base in order to increase fidelity, realism and stability. Approaching every facet of the F-4E through the lens of physical modelling - beyond anything we've done before - has been a core tenet of the first of our next generation aircraft, and while this has meant a more difficult and longer development journey than expected, we're super excited about what this means for the future of Heatblur and our aircraft. One key element that has been directly relevant to the F-14 too, has been the RWR (or RHAW). In 2019, we broke new ground through our simulation of the ALR-67 RWR in the F-14. For the early -A and its ALR-45, we've wanted to go a step further, and developing the ALR-46 for the F-4E was a great opportunity to leverage our latest technologies in a way applicable to both aircraft. After a few tough iterations, which have made delivering the early -A take longer than expected, we’re excited to finally be completing the major elements of our new, next generation RWR model! Our work has primarily revolved around creating a new signal environment model, which will far more accurately inform the RWR and other sensor devices about various emitters in the world. This model enhances the existing radar warning receiver tools of DCS by performing a simulation of each of the radars in the game to produce their signal at the point of the aircraft. Each radar has information defined in a schema, some examples being: • Antenna Gain • Antenna Speed • Carrier Frequency • Pulse Repetition Frequency (Search and Track) • Peak Power • Search Pattern (if it has one) • Tracking Pattern (whether the radar is conscanning, mono-pulse, or sweeping like the fan song for example). • Beam width and height. This simulation happens only when the radar warning receiver is being irradiated by a given radar and requires no additional information from DCS to be synchronized between modules that use this system. Further simulation includes everything from antennas and their placement, bands and associated processing (including e.g. slow signal processing in dense signal environments) and track correlation for multiple pings and associated emitter identification tables. And perhaps best of all, together with our partners at Eagle Dynamics, we hope to contribute our simulation of the signal environment and associated schema to become a core part of DCS, making it available to both first and third party developers for use and extension. A rising tide raises all boats, and we’re excited to contribute to the core platform in a way that will be beneficial for the EM environment and RWRs’ across the entire simulation. Finally; with this new model in place, we can begin finalizing features for the ALR-45 in the early -A, in particular the very accurate and important sound synthesis, and this is also one of the final building blocks to fall into place for completion of our upcoming DCS: F-4E! Stay tuned for far more in depth walkthroughs of this and other systems we’ve built as part of our Phantom journey, we can't wait to show you what we've built and to finally launch the early and IRIAF -A! Syria Development Progress We are pleased to announce substantial improvements coming to DCS: Syria. Our partners Ugra-Media continue to develop and support the map and soon we will be releasing a huge update that will include new features, optimization, as well as improvements to the landscape and models. The Syria map has been enhanced to maximise performance, while still striving to uphold an even greater level of detail. Notably, night time illumination has been enhanced throughout the map, rendering night flights even more captivating. Furthermore, we have diligently upgraded a significant portion of our cars fleet, implemented right-hand traffic on the island of Cyprus, updated the map's legend, and augmented damaged vehicle models. A lot of work has been done to optimise the map, which provides an increase in FPS from 10-20%. Moreover, this update encompasses numerous minor refinements to heighten the realism and immersion. It is with great enthusiasm that we present this update in the next Open Beta update and kindly await your feedback. Please remember that during the on-going DCS Summer Sale, you can benefit from a huge 30% discount on this map. With the imminent update, DCS: Syria at $41.99 USD is a steal. Hurry! This offer ends on the 16th of July at 23:59 GMT. Bye Phant
