1500 GMT is 0100 local for me ... sucks to be on the "wrong" side of the world sometimes.

Damn, I seemed to have tripped and hit the pre-order button. I hate it when that happens ;)

Hornet Hype thread. Videos, Pictures, Books, Articles. Build that hype.
Bullant replied to Ocelotunit's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Aussie Hornet montage ... mixture of classics and supers. Check out the turn rate at 0:50 :joystick: -
Yeah that was pretty much my reaction lol :music_whistling:

Oh wow that is tempting, cheaper than I could build it myself!

After reading through the NATOPS manual, that is the only conclusion I can come to. Thanks :) I think if I end up going the Hornet cockpit route I will just project onto the front combiner glass and have a clear piece of glass for the rear one. Hopefully won't cause too many issues with reflections.

Just the thread I was looking for! I have currently taken over the home theater room and have the projector running outside HUD view and a 22" NON-TOUCHSCREEN monitor on the desk running your awesome profile. Now almost everything works perfectly, except that the rotaries for setting comms frequencies are just super sensitive. I have tried everything I can think of, changing sensitivity, changing from swipe to touch. Now touch should work better for me I would think, 1 click on either side of the rotary should change the rotary setting by in the appropriate direction, but I get between 1 and 6! position changes for each click. Any suggestions? edited to say: I noticed that HF tuning is perfect, but COMM1 and COMM2 are having the issue. They all appear to be setup with the same parameters so I am wondering if it might be something in the output bindings? The first AM encoder is set to 'increment VHF AM Radio 1st Frequency Selector on DCS A10C' which seems reasonable. Also, this is in 2.1, I will go and try in 1.5 now - confirmed broken in 1.5 as well WELL DON'T I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT: I will leave this here for anyone else who is stumped. I was caught out by the fact that new export had the radio fix included, but that is only for correctly DISPLAYING the frequencies. I had to download the radio fix attachment and replace the rotaries with the working ones in the profile and and the proper key bindings to get the frequency setting working. Which it is now. Capt Z I owe you a beer for all your hard work if you are ever in this neck of the woods!

Fantastic information, I am enthused about starting work on my cockpit. However the coming release of the F/A-18C has me in a pickle, because now I am considering switching from a Hawg pit to a Hornet pit. Quick question that google hasn't been able to answer ... does anyone know why the hornet HUD has two combiner lenses that the pilot looks through?

This is truly amazing work!

I am actually quite happily surprised at the performance of the Normandy map and 2.1 in general. Obviously I have deferred shading off to stop the flouro cockpits but I am seeing around 50-70 fps over Normandy down to 30-40 over large towns with "High" settings and shadows off. I started another thread on the funny looking tree shadows. I stupidly installed the Win 10 Creator update a week ago, I will roll that back today and see if frame rates get any better, as I noticed my NTTR rates were down on what I was used to in 2.0.5 before the update and now think that might have a lot to do with it based on what I'm reading about "Game mode" negative effect on frame rates.

Was great fun, I even survived getting down close to the action :) This one is great as well, but going to need to practise my Spitfire taxiing a bit more! I am a mission editor noob and can't work out to add a train as a target, if someone could do a train busting mission that would be awesome :)

WTF? NORMANDY & ASSETS
Bullant replied to Sgt_Fresh's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
And for future reference, you didn't need to uninstall 1.5. You can quite happily have the release version, beta and alpha (2.1) versions all installed at the same time (in different directories obviously). -
10.5 hours so far here ... 5Gb to go on the update then I have to do the map! Fluctuating between 40-250 KB/s using torrent. Tried the direct download and it was crawling at 10 ...

Have DCS 2.1 but no Normany Map or Assets-Tickets No Help
Bullant replied to MADLOU1's topic in Bugs and Problems
Wait, what? So after the 15Gb download for the update from 2.05 to 2.1, there's another 5Gb for WWII map? I'll guess I'll find out in another 8 hours when the first download completes ... 50% done after 8 hours! -
Second that request. Purchased this beauty today and having a hell of a time controlling her!

Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Bullant replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
At the $3K price surely it would be easier for EVERYONE for ED to buy the rights from Starway and incorporate all the hard work into the base software. From what I can it is a significant increase in quality over the base maps and I would have to assume that ED would have to spend way more than that to do the work themselves. -
Loving the idea of the campaign, and ignoring the fact that I forgot to close the canopy before taking off ... There seems to be a real timing issue with this mission. Ford 4, the flight that I am supposed to follow, taxis out and takes off before I can even get my engines started. I ended up taking off from the taxi-way so that I had any chance of catching them. And even then I was getting instructions to turn north east before I'd even taken off! Not sure how easy this would be to fix, but it is a real immersion killer :(

Downloading at 9KB/s. Not holding my breath.

Link to this thread was posted on Facebook today. Holy cow, it is not often that I will read every single post in a 57 page thread in one sitting! Count me in, I want them. All of them :)

Got a couple in the last 10 minutes, definitely something fishy going on here ...

Got it this morning. Even managed to shoot some ground targets without ploughing into the ground :)

I have noticed the following two graphics glitches (I can try and take screen shots tonight if that helps?) 1. Label text bleeds through the 3D cockpit (I know, who uses labels? But still good to fix) 2. Snow effect on gun-sight glass. Not all the time, not sure if it an intended effect of sun glare or something else, but it looks a lot like what my old Geforce card used to look like when it was overheating (except then it was the entire screen). I'm using a Radeon HD5870 with the latest official drivers on Win7 x64.

Warthog is brilliant, much better quality than the cougar (and I loved my cougar). No need to change anything when you plug it in, the sim will recognise it and configure it automatically (except that it will for some reason map the trim hat to the view commands ... don't ask me why. so you will need to remap these four commands). I use trackIR, and I also use the friction control on the right of the throttle as a zoom control for the cockpit view, works very well.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Bullant replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Just got home from a busy day at the Avalon air show (http://www.airshow.com.au) After watching their flight display today, my vote is definitely for the F/A-18F. Boy, those things can turn! And not to mention carrier ops :)
