Go to map point in ME by entering coordinates
Tholozor replied to Weta43's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This is already a thing. At the top row of the ME, go to Customize and select Set Position. You can pull the Type dropdown and select different coordinate formats. The Set Position box can also able to be moved around. -
Relax your grip on the stick, use light pressure to make adjustments. Consider adding a curve to your pitch and roll axes, or add more if you already have some. Don't chase the basket, else you risk pilot-induced oscillations. Formation flying in general is always a bonus for AAR.

No opinion, just saying that it *could* be a contributing factor. I don't know if it affects it for a fact.

Remember that the pylons that the aircraft has loaded are different as well. With the air-to-air loadout, only the LAU-129 rails are present, but in the air-to-ground loadout, you have LAU-118 rails for the HARMs attached to MAU-12 racks. The SMS is aware these pylons are present, which could be contributing to the CAT STORES condition.

user error HMD will not return after blanking
Tholozor replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Bugs and Problems
Commands Expand mode on a trackfile under the cursor. -
Ensure the TDC is not assigned to the SA page when using the recce button for toggling HMD symbology.

As far as I know, Qusahwira was still under construction during the time period the PG map is representing. Same can be said for the air base in Zayeed Military City.

The F-16 doesn't eject spent casings, it holds them in the magazine as ballast weight. That port is for venting gun exhaust gas. Do you have any mods installed? I can't check the track at work.

Need help with the Hornet's IFF (track file added)
Tholozor replied to primus_TR's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
You can also enable automatic interrogation from the AZ/EL page with the AUTO INT option in the lower left corner. -
Multiplayer tracks are saved automatically in Saved Games\DCS\Tracks\Multiplayer

reported earlier MSI bug - NWS L&S and DT2 designations
Tholozor replied to John5's topic in Bugs and Problems
Already reported (known issue): -
Can't trim for level flight at higher speeds/throttle
Tholozor replied to unicorndog's topic in DCS: CH-47F
Check the position of the Longitudinal Cyclic Trim indicator on the INST page for the rotors. Once it's maxed out, the flight control system has no more authority in that direction. You can read more about the LCTs here: -
Maverick E (laser) doesn't track laser after fire
Tholozor replied to Anubis_94's topic in Bugs and Problems
In your second attack, the Maverick was fired from well outside the keyhole, meaning although the seeker itself can see the laser before launch, it's losing it once it comes off the rail. Try to launch within these constraints as much as possible for any Maverick attack. (Image is referenced with the A-10, but the keyhole is still applicable) -
Fitted? Sure, the lugs should be the same, and likely the data cable and fuzing lanyards too. Actually useable? That's where it could be debatable. The Stores Management System won't have a weapon code for it on the Weapon Insertion Panel. No code entered means no option on the STORES page wingform.

Funny enough this has been brought up before a few years ago:

New Sniper Pod: how to get a sharp picture
Tholozor replied to warmachine79's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Enable XR image processing by double-tapping the Expand/FOV button on the stick, and ensure the pod is in AREA or POINT track (processing takes a second or two). If the pod is slewed it will revert to normal until the camera is stabilized again, then the image will be re-processed. -
In my opinion, a small part of the "problem" is the variants that are chosen to model, as complex computer systems, avionics and control logics dominate the current roster (versus older versions that might just be "make the thing and go"). While that's a gross oversimplification, there's always going to be the age-old caveat of obtaining public data, reading it, and translating it to script for the virtual environment.

This is correct, as the NWS button shouldn't drop L&S designation. Pressing NWS should: - command return to search (RTS) if the radar is in STT. - step the L&S designation through valid, ranked trackfiles. - swap L&S and DT2 designations if both are present. If you want to remove the L&S in RWS, press RSET.

AFAIK (didn't work on F-16s, but have worked in aviation refueling), in order for fuel to reach the external tanks from the single-point refueling receptacle, the fuel must first flow through the internal tanks (I'm not sure specifically which tanks in which order without the fuel system diagram in front if me). Since the internal tank pressure is only reduced as opposed to completely depressureized, it takes a bit of force to push the fluid through those tanks so fuel can flow to the externals. The other half of the problem is that the fuel slider in the rearming menu only cares about internal fuel level. So once the internal tanks are completely filled, the ground crew will stop fuel flow, even if the externals are only partially filled. This is a long-standing DCS limitation, as realistically you'd probably either be able to keep fuel pressure and permit flow to the externals, or just fuel the external tanks manually via the fill caps with an over-wing nozzle. ED has mentioned in the past about the possibility of having fuel sliders for external tanks in addition to internal. The reason people have made the suggestion to be under a specific amount of fuel is to ensure that there's enough time for fuel to flow to the external tanks before the internals are filled, cutting off fuel flow. While this is a more "rule-of-thumb" method to ensure external tanks are refilled, the best guarantee is to have the ground crew remove and replace the external tanks (jettisoning the tanks not necessarily required, depending on your situation).

AFAIK the LITENING on the F-16 was supposed to represent the baseline II, but as we know it's a mish-mash of LITENING and LANTIRN.
-
Try opening the AAR door, this will depressurize the external tanks.
-
Keep in mind the zoom on the LITENING pod isn't digital like it should be (like on the ATP), making it unrealistically good. The ATP also has multi-track and an IR pointer.
