  1. There is a small error in the calculation, which becomes noticeable at the long distances. So you are definitely right. We know about it and will fix it. But I cannot promise that it will be done soon, this must be done at the level of the core sound engine. So we need our main programmers to do it, but they are still busy with more urgent tasks. Anyway thanks for your report!
  2. 1) yes, correct 2) yea, that should work with any DCS version
  3. Thanks, there are 3 sounds that change their volume, pitch and lowpass filter with the speed. Try to listen again, also on different planes. Perhaps on jets, the changes will be more noticeable.
  4. The main difficulty is in the fact that the sounds of rain are the same for all cockpits, and the frequency spectrum and volume of cockpits of different aircraft can vary greatly. I can agree that the sound in the A-10 is louder than we would like. But we need to strike a balance so that would comfortable not only in the A-10, but also in the Mustang and F-16. Please try this fix - sdef.zip - with different planes, unzip it to your folder c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\DCS\Sounds. It should reduce the volume of the rain a little bit
  5. Sorry, but it was decided not to give the outside world volume control setting in the cockpit. As this can lead to a lot of cheating by users.
  6. From my side evrth works fine. Do you use Beta or Stable version? The stable version is updated very rarely
  7. Well, we asked the SME that recorded that video. And he answered "No idea. It’s not normal. I imagine it’s something with the camera."
  8. As I see, the branch (user) version and trunk version (from which I made the video) absolutely the same. But I am not sure about "Stable" version. Maybe it's not there. Only in Beta. I can't answer exactly, sorry. The stable version is updated very rarely. Therefore, the vast majority of players are using the beta version
  9. Yea, really interesting, but flaps is hydraulic. And we hear some electric motor. I'll try to find out what is it.
  10. Thanks, but I think we speak about the howl sound, not startup. And there are no howl sounds in this video
  11. The howl sound works, I can hear it. Maybe not as loud as it used to be. But to be honest, I'm not at all sure if this sound should be heard in the cockpit. I don't remember hearing it in any video. If you have a reference, please share, I will adjust the volume to the desired level
  12. Many pilots of the WWII severely lost their hearing, sometimes completely. Because their leather helmet did not save much from the sound pressure of the aircraft engines and propeller.
  13. The overall balance of sounds in the cockpit sounds the same, whether or not a helmet is worn. The sound of the air flow in the FA18 is really very loud and with high speeds it partially drowns out engine noise. And the helmet only gives a decrease in volume and add a low-pass filter. If you feel that the overall sound in the cockpit is too loud, you can simply turn down the volume of the cockpit sounds in the audio settings. In this case, the sounds that fall into your headset (radio conversations, for example) will not be reduced.
  14. Thanks for your feedback. This fix will be included in the nearest official updates.
  15. it's ok then. The airflow sounds are really loud in real life. Of course it depends on speed and Angle Of Attack.
  16. Do you mean the sound of the airflow on the ground? with zero-speed?
  17. Dear all, please try this hot-fix - FA18.zip Unzip it to c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\DCS\ And let me know how is it, thanks
  18. Here's what I got after some tweaking. There are 2 different boost values in the video. Yes, there is no very bright sound with a high boost from the outside. But I'm not sure if that should be the case with the motor screaming so close to the pilot. With such motor params, a pilot should simply go deaf, being at such a distance. bandicam 2021-07-23 14-27-43-183.mp4
  19. I think you speak about prop sound, not the engine. And that is ok if you increase your boost to these values
  20. I see. The problem is in the overall sound limiter and the huge volume of the "cockpit overboost" sound. First I should say, that flying with an open canopy at 18lbs is not good, because this will decrease the speed more than the increase in power will give Well, we should think how to fix it. Because the easiest way is to limit "overboost" sound volume. but then we will be partially devoid of information in the cockpit Maybe there is other solution Anyway, Thanks for your report
  21. That's my version of DCS below. And it is really different from yours. what version of DCS are you using? 2021-07-23 10-05-38-173.mp4
  22. Dear all. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the sound in DCS. If you have any unique good quality audio or video recordings of aircraft, helicopters or ground vehicles - please share them with us, PM me. It will help us so much! I can guarantee that your files will not be uploaded anywhere and will be used by me only to create and improve sounds. Thank you!

  23. Specially for it there is an option "Fake Afterburner" in sound options So we should create then Fake Detent, Fake Moving, Fake Birds and so on? )))
  24. Yes, you definitely right. The sounds of the trimmer for some reason does not sound at all. Although we have these sounds in the module. I will report the bug. Thanks!
  25. The "Hear like in Helmet" option does not affect the sound balance in any way. It applies volume down and low pass filter to the entire audio mix. With the "Hear like in Helmet" option, the balanced mix will also be balanced
