It only works if the server you're playing on allows the ACMI recording. The 104th and S77th do not, and there are others that don't as well because they don't want people seeing the engagement zones of ground units. Otherwise, you just open tacview, tell it to record DCS, then you just search for the recorded tacview track when you're done flying.

The A-10 has finally met its maker. GROM'D. Thanks to Hadwell for the assist! sUUx-k2erg4

Two kill sortie. Also, not a fan of the TS members. Frustrating to fly with these comms. kZBqeta6hl8 Yes, I like to fly with music.

A2G R-3Rs! Also, just traded kills with an F-15? I used an R-3R and he used an AIM-120B... How does that happen? And the view distance of aircraft in this game is pitiful. Let's play find the MiG-21. He's at about 0.7nm... I can easily see a yellow R-22 at 2 miles IRL.

It was even funnier in person. We had a 5-ship of -21s and were RTB from the AO. 3 were less than 1200L, but myself and another still had 1900L, so we decided to defend the rear because we knew the F-15 would be somewhere near us, as he was talking crap on all the -21s. Well, as we turn to scan the area we see a lone contrail. Both of us stayed low and lit the burners, then zoom-climbed to fire. We were only 30km from home plate and I didn't feel like landing imbalanced so I fired both of my R-3Rs when I noticed the target start to explode, then realized that my wingman also fired off both of his. If you notice on the gif, the F-15 was blown up so bad after the 3rd missile that there wasn't any piece of the remaining F-15 for my last R-3R to lock on to, and flew right through the debris field. Easily one of the funniest moments I've had in DCS. EDIT: Well, I tried to cut the video to show you guys but shadowplay decided to record in 0.25fps. The soundbite is too good to not share the awful video though. 3PHfGjXJEvE

MiG-21 strikes again... We really wanted to kill him . Splashed 3 missiles and the 4th went through the debris field.

Yep. We just got done with the campaign and they wanted to fly more. I was the only one that didn't get slapped by the spamraams hahaha

Finished the Guardians of the Caucus campaign tonight. More screens. Also flew a 5-ship on the 104th... One guy killed 3 with an AIM-120 in a matter of seconds, as well as got another with an AIM-9. I managed to escape and was met with another F-15 when firing on the original.

The A-10 just doesn't go fast enough to throw it good distances unfortunately

Very easy to bounce back in the air at those speeds

Not flaring in attack runs FENCE'ing in way early Turning on all the switches before the APU power is on

I'll redownload my steam since it seems to be easier for everyone else. ttaylor0024 is my username.

I had the same problem when first landing as well. I slowed my touchdown from 320 to 290 and it's worked out great

Don't drop the nose on the ground when you land. Release a little back pressure, but keep the nose off the ground and then smoothly place the nose-wheel on the ground. It will bounce back up if you slam the nose down, as well as risking structural failure of the nose-wheel, as it's only designed to take less than 15% of the aircraft's weight on average.
-
You really need to map those controls too. It was killing me watching you clicking everywhere haha
-
The attitude indicator (analog gauge) simply shows aircraft pitch in relation to the horizon, while the VVI indicates the actual flight path of the aircraft through the air. Not 100% sure I understood your question, but that's what I took from it.

Why does semi mode dispense chaffs when I'm chased by IRs?
ttaylor0024 replied to Fred00's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I use the acronym ACE when I fly to panic with. Program A by default is good against radar SAMs, program C is good against IR, and E is both. If I know I'm only going up against IR or whatnot I will edit another program to match what I want. On average however, I never edit the programs, just start/stop as I please on the default. MWS will sound on any detected missile launch as well, making the calls when launching Mavs all the more important so people don't get slammed thinking it was a friendly shooting a Mav. -
Who all wants to get together one night and play the dynamic campaign?

OTR #43 - A-10C Engine Fire Emergency Procedures
ttaylor0024 replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
No. If your engine catches on fire you immediately want to put the fire out, shut it down, secure it, and RTB. Your aircraft can fly just fine with one engine, use it to let maintenance do their job so you can safely and effectively do yours in the future. Problems regarding altitude performance is a relatively easy one to handle once you know the procedures. In the event of an engine failure you immediately pitch to VYse (best rate of climb on a single engine). I do not know this number exactly for the A-10C to be honest. If you are above the maximum service ceiling then it will be your best drift down speed, or in which you lose the least amount of altitude per a given unit of time. Regarding the cutting the live engine, yes, unfortunately this is a real issue. It happens every year with multi-engine pilots, and if you go watch the movie "Unbroken" right now, you can see that very thing happen. "Dead foot, dead engine," is the saying we use to identify the dead engine. This applies to the fact that if you lose your left engine lets say, then you will need to use right rudder in order to keep the aircraft coordinated. This is rather difficult to do quickly in the sim because you cannot feel the aircraft like you could in real life, thus could misinterpret the yaw for the roll that immediately follows. The proper saying for the procedure is "Identify, Verify, Troubleshoot, Feather, Secure." The feather part won't apply to the A-10C, however multi-engine pistons it would, in which you would feather the prop to reduce drag. For this discussion, simply remove that and think Identify, verify, troubleshoot, secure. Identify the dead engine, verify the dead engine, troubleshoot it (did it just fail, on fire, what happened? As long as it's not on fire, you really are alright with trying to restart for the most part. Battle damage usually won't restart for obvious reasons, and could lead to major issues), secure (turn it off, fuel off, etc). -
Downloaded it and flew it. Can confirm you need to refuel. Made it to the tanker with about 30 minutes of fuel to spare.... and that was still 70nm away from the target area! EDIT: It's Talon Reach that I was talking about! Love that mission!
-
This won't help you out much, but here used to be a really cool mission in which you HAD to refuel on the way in and on the way home or you would only have about 5 minutes on target, which wouldn't do much. Really hope people make more of these long missions where AAR is required. Really adds another element to the missions.
-
The first mission you just use the kneeboard. Dead reckoning is a navigation method that's still used.
