what joystick, HOTAS, do you use ?
upupandaway replied to m1tp2king's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I use the G940. Apart from some well known fluttering in the throttle axis it is a very practical and versatile HOTAS for fixed and rotary wing modules. It conveys a nice impression of stall buffet, force trim etc. and also has trim wheels which are great for the Mustang. I might get the Saitek X-55 though once it´s available in the EU to use at least the throttle because it can be quite difficult to get a helicopter to hover without any vertical movement. Otherwise a great HOTAS. @ SFAL: Which tutorial did you use to rewire the G940 throttle and is it generally hard to do? I checked out some I found online, but hesitated because my G940 was still fairly new at the time. -
Of course, it´s about rationalisation. Perhaps I used the wrong term with "numeric indicators", which seems to refer to the whole apparatus. Simplified - I just wondered why they don´t print out a new "Ziffernblatt" with the numbers rotated to the "correct" direction and switch them. Unless this would in some way break the gauge... Don´t know how sensitive they are. Anyway, thanks for your time. Don´t wanna keep you off your BO-105. :)

Mi-8 Texture Bug Russian Weathered Army Skin

Yes, the distant LODs always show NAV lights on. -
Ah, ok. It was a mixup then... Still, what´s the validity on that estimate? :music_whistling:

Thx for explaining. It always seemed a little odd to me that, when developping and manufacturing a completely new series of helicopters, the engineers get themselves some gauges where the numbers are oriented in the wrong direction. I guess those instruments are mostly standardized items but would it be too much of an effort to rotate the numeric indicators on the dials when they build such a thing? :)

...but Ilya stated later that he would be in no position to fomrally announce it himself. What does Kickstarter saying February 2014 mean now? Has it simply become invalid information? Any word on this?

Handing out some candy might help.
-
Ok, thanks. Makes sense.

Hi Fragger, on the 4th of January you posted two screenshots of pressure and temperature gauges. I noticed that, just like in the Huey, the dials are rotated over to one side. Can you please enlighten me on why they are like this? I really have no idea. :) Gruß!

Impressive video! I love the idea that there may be several new helos around the corner. Great work!

+1 I am also eligible for the FW-190 reward. It had been announced for February, and even if that timeframe won´t be met I´d very much like to have at least a vague idea of how and when (in relation to the actual release date) this whole process of reward selection will work. I get that they (ED/RRG?) probably won´t reveal anything about the FW-190 module before it´s time, least of all a fixed release date, but the mode of delivery has got to be something they have already figured out at this point (if it is really close to release). Being teased with screenshots from the manual and at the same time not knowing anything about the plans for release / rewards feels a bit weird. Anyway, nice update. All the best!

Impressive (at 2:11) and very funny video - some kind of cross-over between Rambo 2 and the more obscure Troma movies...? The music seems out of place and is more reminiscnet of older horror/slasher movies.

HiJack has a point. All SP missions start in a paused state. Does the mission clock / timer in the bottom right corner progress?
-
Yes, you are right. This is also about some of the information (and this may well be less relevant facts on specific details, but no less interesting to me and some others) which is often "hidden" in large threads like this and quite easy to overlook. ...and I said: "...who aren´t doing this in some way already." :) Anyway, this has been mentioned before and I for myself will rest my case at this point before it gets too much OT.
-
This would be a great idea for all of the active developers on this forum who aren´t doing this in some way already. Searching posts of specific users helps sometimes, but you make a valid point.

Thx Cobra for shedding some light on the issue.

It may be a bit out of place, but since we are already talking about the Dora, I was wondering if there will be a bare metal skin available like with the Mustang.
-
Probably because it´s not really part of FC3. Based on the images we were shwon a while ago, I´d guess it can´t be much longer than the Su-33 and MiG-29.
-
Well, guess I´ll have to kiss my dreams good bye for now. ;) It´s still good news.

Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in... But seriously, this is great news and confirm many things many people have been wishing for. MiG-29 6DOF + external model Su-33 6DOF They only named the A-10C in relation with FC3 in their statement and I think they forgot the Su-25 in there, unless it´s gonna be its own DCS module soon and no longer part of FC3... :music_whistling:

Sure do. I´ll just wait and see what happens, with a cup of tea in my hand, literally... :)
