Su-33 pit on facebook now and it doesn´t say WIP anymore. I´m gonna say woot! though.

Well, hopefully Hermes will deliver tomorrow. I´m especially expecting more precise and smooth output from the htrottle compared to the G940 and I´m also hoping to map more functions to it. Fingers crossed... Guess there will be some impressions to share soon.

Beautiful screenshots! Can´t wait to see it being rendered in real time on my own PC.

Well, I was just a little sceptical since pre-oders had begun not too long ago in US/CAN and sometimes online retailers will display false information to get people to buy stuff at their shop. At least I´ve seen that happen in the past. But even more surprisingly, Amazon.de has already shipped my unit and it´s underway right now. I´m actually a little excited, but it probably won´t be here before the weekend.

Tomorrow? ;) WIP screen looks great so far.

It´s a small plastic rod that connects the two moving parts at the base of the handle. I didn´t notice any wear, but there´s still some play between them...
-
You were right. Found out that the subtle, but quite audible play around the center of the y-axis is actually caused by something else.

NP. Just made me smile. I don´t have to moderate anything or anyone around here. :)

First thing I thought when I saw this thread... :)

Thx, I got me the proper metal tubes for this job and I guess I´m gonna try it tonight. Aren´t the buttons and springs gonna come off if I separate and remove the stick?

Those are certainly the most pertinent and urgent issues... Hopefully nobody really doubts that progress is being made, but in the light of possible scams and people "stirring the pot" with polls about a new KS-campaign it would perhaps be adviseable to act or react publicly in some way. Overboarding speculation and pot stirring can always be moderated accordingly on this forum, but if it spreads elsewhere this is no longer an option.

Great idea to make this an orderly collection of constructive proposals. Pretty much everything has been said here until this point. Although I´m not personally eligible for skype updates in my eyes there has been too much neglection of the commitments made by RRG during and after the campaign. Even if things directly related to code and engine development are hindered by ED´s progress, there are more things to report on, and even if not, a quick comment about that is all it takes. Just as an example, the team behind Battle over Stalingrad manages their weekly (!) updates very well and they´re relatively early in development, too. Thus my main concern was and is: improve communication and keep the channels open like it was outlined at several occasions during and after the campaign. Get somebody who is really respnsible for this and not scurrying around in places where there is no internet 90% of the time. Stick to this model. The model of crowdfunding is based on mutual interests - information/participation vs. development capital. An attitude of irresponsability and negligence towards one side might lead lead to losing the communities trust which is pretty much the worst thing that can happen - for all of us here. The management of the RRG forum section and this thread have been (initial) indicators of such a split.

I was lucky enough to play this together with a group of people where the more complex aspects came into play and you are right - this is the true strength of CA: intelligently controlled ground units and JTAC. Unfortunately the whole thing was massively hindered by the well known network problems so that in the end I gave up on serious MP completely...

Great! Are there any tutorials on how to disassemble and reassemble the stick correctly? I don´t care about the warranty, but unnecessarily breaking it is not what I´m aiming for. I have had some moderate grinding noise from day one...

Using the X55 Rhino with the A10C Warthog
upupandaway replied to OldTimer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Nice, not many people have that stick yet. There is also a thread in the input and output section of this forum where you may share your impressions. The A-10C in DCS is generally a rather gentle and forgiving plane. If it helps, I use DZ 3 / CURVE 15 on the stick and DZ 5 / CURVE 15 on the pedals with a Logitech G940. Have fun! -

Hi there and welcome! Deadzone is the area around the centre of an axis (if it´s not defined as a slider) in which your physical input with the stick will not generate any output in the sim. This might for example be helpful with the rudder axis because perhaps you tend to shift around a little and move the pedals inadvertedly. Curvature kind of regulates the exponent in your relation between physical input on the stick and its simulated output. You can go from a strictly linear relation to pretty much any gradient or slope of a curve (progressive/degressive). Saturation regulates the maximum simulated control output regardless of your physical input. You will have to play around with these settings a little. Maybe it would be helpful to know which module you are talking about. -
Thx, but it´s just another pre-order, isn´t it? They don´t really have any in stock or do they?
-
Errr, Europe for the win ;) Can´t really give too much if they say it´ll be March. We´ll see.
-
+1 (depending on size and quality)

Preordered mine today at amazon.de for 200€. They say it´ll be there March 2014, but that seems doubtful to me. The thottle has soo many buttons to map that I could even live without the mouse nipple and in videos you can see that the friction has been decreased compared to the X65F. Let´s hope it won´t be tto long until they ship them here.

CA basically does what is advertised, but it also is kinda broken (or rather unfinished) in certain areas - which produced very amusing screenshots. As long as sniping helos with 155mm artillery works I´m all good with it. Winfield, you probably described the plans (or rather dreams) that ED might have for this. Tank modules with proper damage model, cargo transport do not sound so far fetched anymore. The infantry part is a little too far off, but given time... Who knows?

There may be too much dev work left before they are usable in DCS, but if it´s just about size I think they might even have an advantage. Sure, they shouldn´t be too small, but what you can observe online on the VA-server with the current map is that especially helos just tend to stay at or around a specific airfield where they do their stuff. A huge map means lots of wasted resources in ths case, so why not have something like this as a MP training/freestyle map? You could have several of those with less effort and thus more variation in terrain/gameplay etc. Interestingly, this seems to be the most popular server currently. The distribtion pattern of helo-wreckage clearly concentrates around the parking area of Batumi.

Not to be relied on, but to inspire your imagination of what might be possible in the future.

Can´t find it right now. Most of the videos were also posted in here, that´s all I found looking for the tags commonly associated with these projects.
