  1. Just make sure you name the folder in there properly, for the Hornet for exemple, default folder is: ...\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C\Liveries\FA-18C_hornet So in your saved games you should nammed the subfolders in which you would put the liveries: ...\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\FA-18C_hornet
  2. Which many of your options mentionned are mostly unavailable on servers. Any reasons why you think? My point is, no matter what devs work their ass off to make something, we always whine to have something different, always easier to ask a developpers to work hard and long on something to ease us, rather than take the time to try. We don't have the time to practice, but let'S ask a Developper to take the time to create something for us laysy rather then to work on something more helpful. It's too wasy, we cry it'S too easy, it'S too hard, we cry it'S too hard, nature of human being, never satisfied with what otehr gives us, you give someone an inch and they ask 2 inches.
  3. Too many people crazy on there, i blame someone damaging the system on the Carrier that emits the Tacan :)
  4. I was just teasing you, a lots of us are attentionned to small details and each of us have their own small details preferences. I don't pay attention to the helmet, but when the Hornet came out, i paid attention on the RCAF liveries, that one squadron had the Canadian flag on the tail and the other not, and one had roundels on wings and the other not, small details some didn'T cared, but i did, so i am no way better. :)
  5. Well, let's make DCS a fully Ease of Access game, let's make an easy option for refueling on the groudn as well, just flying over the airfield like in Battlefield 1 will refuel your aircraft, and an easy option for AAR, an easy option to land that being 10 ft over the airfield makes it'S as if you're landed and don't damage the aircraft, let's make an option for the color blind people so they see everything up like some games do, also, let's make an option where the models can be seing 20 nm away as if they were 1 nm away for those having issues to spot aircrafts (oh forgot, we had it, but it's gone), also an easy option for bombs runs, so those having issues can have bombs exploding stuff 1 nm away from the target, also people having issues evading missiles, let's make a Slowmotion option for easy missile evading you know, like the Matrix, let's all make DCS suits for everyone's weakness, sounds a deal? :) Let's take out all the good work ED tried to bring realism (that lots of us i this community likes and for a lot of us, brought us to DCS) to a sim where most other PC sim failed or didn'T have, let's bring DCS down to other PC sim. BTW who ever is having a hard time to AAR and wasted his time to read the entire 15 pages of this thread rather going in DCS and try to refuel is a bit funny.
  6. Well my friend, that's what you get for buying a second-hands Hornet with lots of hour flight time on the airframe for a cheap price on Ebay :P
  7. I think OP meant a real FCLP system not just a pop-up window, having a pop-up meatball window for me would be a total turn-off and take me off the immersion, like a physical FCLP IFLOS unit system on the side of the airfield (somoene made the modle already as mod, is only we could attribut a working IFLOS to it from Mission editor) and the carrier box on the landing strip (though i think this is available from a mod to be as static boet, but not sure). I would still rather use Dubai's International Airport's PAPI'S light instead of a meatball window pop-up. But, thats my own opinion.
  8. OP said he was flying over the ocan, no terrain masking and still no Tacan at 40 nm which is odd, i never had any issues getting a Tacan signal around that range on flat terrain, i do have issues when i get on Aerobatic Online server, taking from the base which has Hornets, hiden below some mountains and the Carrier is about 85 nm away, i then get the spinning Tacan, but once i get at 40 nm i do not have a single issue. Wanted to see his mission cuz lots of time, people forget to specify the Unit in the Tacan Advanced Waypoint options in the ME and sometimes gives an issue to find the Tacan signal and sometimes it works. But agian, OP is not clear as to, does it happens to a carrier, or any default airbase Tacan, so wanted to see the mission to take a lot a bit more precise.
  9. You could always you the cheating mod to allow labels on to appear as 1 pixel only, without names. But again, servers you get on needs to allow labels on. I tried a while ago when i got my VR, and turned it off real quick, as i find a 1 pixel to appear anytime kinda cheating.
  10. Mind to share your mission so we might take a look in the ME if it's something there as well?
  11. So many of us and so many post being made in the wish section for this hoping fr it, but, last news we had, it wouldn'T come. Hopefuly one day it'll change, with the Tomcat coming as a third Naval aicraft (not counting the SU-33)
  12. Yep, seen this on one of the many DCS Facebook pages, some people training up their unrealistic virtual skill, like refueling inverted for a long time or connecting the Hornet's probe to the KC-130 boom's tip... just seing the screenshot gives me shiver thinking papa 1 touching papa's 2 tip :P
  13. But agian my friend, if you'd be in a F1 sim would you care about the driver helmet which you mostly never see? :) But again, i might be selfish, cuz i set my mirror off due to CPU limitation so maybe that's why i don't really care as i do not see my own reflection in the mirrors and when i watch replays, i am too focused to look at the brillaint work done on the F-18 and not the pilot from a distance, got to say when i eject and look down in VR, i feel like i'd need a few good steaks and greasy fries to gain some more weight :) (or should i just loose about 20 lbs in RL :)
  14. As flyable aircraft, if we get 2 per year, we're lucky, so magine coming up with all the names mentionned in this thread, i'll be at the age dreaming of a flying 4-legs walker :P
  15. To answer this tricky question and easy way, i'd simply list the link below, as ending upp pretty much all aircraft being mentionned :P https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fighter_aircraft
  16. I flew a long time the Huey, until the Harrier came out, then the Hornet, and sdly, i feel like Helicopters are the black sheep of DCS and the missloved ones. I was so much hoping for these stuff when i was flying the Huey. Hope one day soon, DCS we'll see more modern helicopters with cool features as this.
  17. Simple, cuz i don't need any more mods to do this, i got 2 shortcut, one for VR and one for Non-VR only when i test liveries, edit missions and such. It does well the job for the few times i need it, no need to go in a mod select stuff, a simple click on my desktop when i need it to even though i am sure the mods fits a lot otehr people and it's great, just too much for the few things i need :)
  18. Well if all matter is when you fly in formation, looking on youtube 5 minutes you can get a tutorial how to use photoshop or any low-cost image editing softwares to edit DDS and make the helmet white, from that distance, you'll never see the difference specialy if in VR. ;) Until they attend to this small detail. And i'm pretty sure if someone pushes the learning a bit about Roughmet, you could fake a reflective tape, not sure, i personaly don'T really care about these details, i'm more into airplanes detailed liveries than helmets i'll never pretty much see. But that is my opinion :)
  19. From what i remember, those old days, constant evolution softwares weren'T as populated, before we bought the games at the stores, patch wasn't that often, people were selling softwares pretty completed, and people were being patient to wait for it and didn'T had any choices, no way a company would had spend lots of money to print/produce boxes, produces CD's, DVD's or diskets way back then, shipping to all the stores, for an unfinished product, then redo all the process a few months after for the final product, then Internet came with softwares selling without the need of buying in physical stores, just click download and voilà, so all goes more and more into betas as no need to release a physical copy much anymore. Now many games goes with lots of DLC etc... those are two different eras. One, of completed sofwares, low updates, upgrades, DLC's or in store content should i say, patient customers, to a, fashion of betas, alphas due to impatient customers, easy accessible downloading content with a click of a mouse, no need to produce physical copies, find stores to sale them to, there'S a bug? Well Hotfix. In other words, the customers, us, are to blame, how arrasing were we witht he Hornet, arassing ED when it'll comes out, asking every months, every days? Did we managed to leave them slowly finish it or did we put pressure on them to release it as much as possible as it as early access? How pressure is coming on Heatblur for the F-14? Asking 100's times per days on the forums, on their Facebook or on ED's Facebook, when it'll come out? Are custumers willing to wait another 10 months for it to comes finished? I personaly got use with all this and live with it, being flying DCS since 2009, and i ratehr have 2 versions and try out the new stuff than only a stable version and got to wait, i guess this comes from my many years of playing MMORPG that has lots of constant upgrades, DLC's and suffer bugs, so i got used to it in DCS. As as OP mentioned, an ingame voice system, oh god, please, NO! Not a single game i've seen with open voice system ended up good, unless a full module working like those mentionned, TS, Discord etc that you could create channels or limit who can goes in etc.. cuz with open voice system, you always have that kid frustrated coming in and bash at people, whine etc... Or those you don'T wanna hear. At least with external voice system, you limit the peope talking to only those really willing to, and make them join a server. I remember so much on Oculus in Marvel's Powers United, stucked to listen to those 6 years old kids joining, which i could barely understand and had to wait a few minutes in order to mute them, not to mention on Console, which more than often in games, lsot fo times turns into verbal fights, or if i'm willing to fly in peace and quiet, i simply don't join any voice chat app and fly in piece and quiet... So for ingame chat voice, it would need a really decent module, i wouldn't much interested to join Virtual Online Aerobatics, and having eveyone talking at the same time on the same channel, with 8 people flying in formation talking to each others, then two elsewhere fighting cuz a showoff trying to impress people, flew a bit too closse to the ground and crashed into someone on the parking jusst finished his start-up and has to start all over again... Again, that is my perspective and i do understand and respect the OP's wishes.
  20. I presume because before we could only assign Tacan to Tankers, so my bet is, this haven't changed in the codings and stayed with TKR as pre-assign name?
  21. F/A-18 for me, back in 2010 or so, i discovered DCS by mistake while buying a totaly different category game online, i was flying in FSX back then, using the default Hornet or VRS SuperBug, back then there was only the A-10C and the KA-50 which started to fly on the same servers. Since then, i was dreaming a Hornet comes in DCS when i'Ve seen the graphics, fidelity of the cockpits and it's system in the A-10C..,when new modules started to rain in DCS and DCS World came up, that dream came stronger and stronger, the day they announced the works on the Hornet module, you can't imagine how i felt, so now, i'm mostly flying the Hornet, but, the AV8B is not far behind. :)
  22. I'd go with many said, it's DCS, your life doesn't depends on it nor the cost of your Airforce if you crash the bird. Just grab the modules you're interested in and learn it, your best trainer is, Youtube, with it's many tutorials and this forum. :) Anyways, back then i bought the Hawk and never flew it, and i never will since it's not supported anymore. :)
  23. Just tried on my side on gulf map, using latest Open Beta version, a training mission i keep on going for a while, and no issues at all, all works as intented. At first i thought it wa because in your mission editor, you didn't select the Carrier as Tacan unit in the advanced waypoint action (Activate Tacan) option, but even when i put « Nothing » as option, it stil worked, thought the Tacan icon went crazy a few seconds while turning around on the HSI, but then found the Tacan. There used to have sometimes issues with the Tacan, that you had to turn it off then turn it back on. EDIT: i created a new mission real quick, with tacan 1x as you have, created without specify the Stennis as unit in the option i told you above, and the Tacan tracker on the HSI keep turning clockwise unable to detext the Tacan, left the misison edited it, went in the option to specifiy the Stennis as unit in the Tacan option, and that time the Tacan worked. Might wanna take a look at this in the mission editor.
  24. True, but for those who find it's annoying, you still have the Ghost Vector while the pitch ladders still stays center, i used to rather have the Ghost Vector only. Again, that's an old habbit i had when the Hornet module came out from the old days in FSX/VRS SuperBug that cage/uncage wasn't available and you only had the Ghost velocity vector.
  25. Basicly all you listed is mainly all multi-role birds, so if anyone can't go on with the Hornet, forget about upcoming F-16, F15, F-14. It's all relatively simple when you're willing to put the time in it, if someone is to leasy or is not interested to go on and have a small amount of time to watch movies/tutorials, read forums, well yeah it's all hard and should only stick to games like Arma, but that's my opinion. So to get back to OP, as in a few post above he said « Great, so it's impossible >_<» seems like he wants to hop in something, watch no movies, read nothing and just fly as is, so basicly anything out of FC3 for him, might be a challenge, either A-10 or F-18. But the Hornet for someone willing to lean stuff, it's pretty much easy, just need to be willing for it. But again, once you put your heart at it once, you can find yourself back in any other birds you get into, or almost as there is lots of similar stuff.
