  1. Why not install DCS on the external drive, so when big updates/patches occurs, you can only bring the drive at your friend and update it there, easier than your entire PC?

    VR Hands

Dunno if you're using Open Beta version, but since dec 19 patch, with my Oculus Rift controllers, push buttons and switches now works when touching them, just feels a bit clumsy as i am too close to lots of obstacle as i play close to my desk etc.. anyways all i did was making a fist with only the index finger out, and sligtly put the finger on the switches instead of pointing them from distance with the laser beams, when a knob having your fist done it's like having the right click presses actualy, so it rolls the knobs you touch if you leave on it or move as per clockwise or counter clockwise, like the CRS switch you move the switch the direction you want and leave it for the tine you want,IE, move it left and keep it left, the crs will turn.... hard to explain, i tried once for the heck of it cuZ i read it was possible now since last patch, but i don'T use it. But it feels so freaking cool able to press the buttons on the UFC and DDIs :) But stick and throttles won'T be part of it... anyways, not sure i would like the virtualy hold a stick, nothing like the real feeling of holding a physical stick and throttle, specialy in VR.. and not to mention, what would you look like if someone passes over your window, and see you in VR, having both hands below your desk, once center between your legs and the otehr one close by and rocking back and forth :P
  3. You could attach your .miz so someone could try and see what'S wrong... default mission editor JTAC always been a bit tricky IMO.
  4. That is odd. Nice bug though, must be way less annoying in VR on night mission, way less bright for the eyes half an inch of the HMD, since adjusting brightness will also dim the text of the MPCD. :) Reminds me my smart phone GPS app, getting a sorta filter at night not to be too bright, not entirely invertted colors, but a somekind of filter...
  5. Well for some reason, even now when editing the lua it doesn't load a texture i specified from saved game... used to work :(
  6. Would be great to be able to get it from the windows in Modelviewer, would avoid me to edit the .lua to add the line to be able to load the textures from saved games, i'm having so much bad memory now, i had to make a .lua copy in the folder so it's there everytime so i can copy/paste the line in the new .lua changed from the patch :S
  7. Well Mover, just came upon a thread on VR subsection while looking for something, since you were using Touch controllers, since today's patch Push buttons and switches now works with the controler by simply touching them and not only clicking as a mouse as it was, though feels weird, i feel like i'm having big clumsy fingers. :)
  8. You left your canopy opened too long while it'S raining, it's just a water stain :P
  9. Quite interesting :) And i see it has also now FPS limiter, so many times a while ago it was loading making my CPU rush it's life going over 2k FPS
  10. i presume it's more likely a sorta light reflection going through the model, like when you turn on the landing light, you see the light coming a little bit through the floor as it lights up the base of the flight stick inside the cockpit, i haven't downloaded it yet the patch, but stick in out side view and turn formation lights on and off, after the nag lights on and off, see which one of the blueish lights makes your weird lights going off and you might see which one is shiniing through the wing.
  11. Interesting, can't wait to try it out!
  12. Thanks for sharing, i was hoping one day to see your reaction using VR, gonna watch these. :) Hope you still aded your funny/humoristic touch :)
  13. I pretty much to the same as Hot Squirrel said above, i do +/- 1% break until i reach about 260 kts i then hit gear and flaps and reduce my bank angle and get ready to adjust trim for onspeed as i sofly drop to 600 ft once establish downwind... As for the distance, as, if i remember Lex already said, there is no exact rule as for G turn, what matters is mostly is the distance you end up and more likely able to adjust the turn, what i mean is, if you break as you pass directly over the ship, if you do an exact turn and end up at 1.2 nm, if you do agian that exact same turn, but you'Re slightly about 0.2 nm offset starboard side of the carrier when you break instead of directly right over it, you'll end up at 1.0 nm instead, so it's a matter of being able to gauge and adjust, rather than simply stick to a proper number... No pro tricks and not sure many real pilots use it much since they are way better at gauging stuff visualy which i suck estemating much distance visualy, but a simple trick i use, is, when you have a tacan or waypoint set with a proper CRS on the HSI, which most of the time you do when using a Carrier, is using the Cross Track Error Indicator/Perpendicular offset or abeam distance to course line indicator, can'T remember the proper name, the little number on your HSI, lower right corner, above CSEL (tronked on left DDI for advisor warnings), which indicates your perpendicular offset to the course line as Tacan inclused all direction in the distance, forward of the ship and perpendicular distance, meaning, when you break, if you're at the 90, and is shows 0.9, you'll know for sure you'll overshoot with 90 degrees remaing to the turn as you'Re already almost 1.2 nm offset, just help a bit to gauge out. I use it most of the time as i break to adjust my turn, mixed with visual queue on the ship/airfield, i usualy start giving it a peek once i get gear down around 250-260 kts when i start reducing my bank angle, this is when i use it to adjust remaining turn to establish downind. But again, just a personal trick.
  14. MOD, can i ask why this has been moved all the way in here, first persian gulf map and most of all, wish list subsection, as i was trying to do something for Hornet people practicing carrier landings on shore with in-game existing systems (well, now working systems as PAPI were been broken for a while last time i was trying to find somewhere it has some), as it has nothing to do with any wishes? If move, at least move it in the proper section of the Hornet subsection as movie, i do not wish for a single thing as i am simply showing people then can have an alternative to train FCLP? Wish list is something not existing, hoping for, as in this video, Persian Gulf exist, PAPI at the airport exist and so does the Hornet?
  15. Ahh some people are never satisfied with what they have and always takes the negative side of the medal, take the good side, we have landing light lightning up the inside cockpit's floor at the base of the flight stick when turned on :P Teasing you :)
  16. Been away from the Sim for about 4 months or so, just back in a few days ago, and hop in my training mission, realised Dubai's international had PAPI (which i never noticed before for some reasons). So i decided to give a try landing with that light system and see if it can be used as a sorta FCLP airfield for when i wanna do tounch and goes and intercept glideslopes, since i'm having random track errors when using the carrier, airfields are the only place i can almost 100% synced tracks when i wanna watch replays. The airfield surrounding terrain is pretty much flat, nothing close to obstract the view, no mountains, buildings and it's elevation is +/- 20 ft, so makes it easier to follow the numbers for easy reference when using BALT, since there is no Tacan, adding a Waypoint on the ME works to setup a CRS on the HSI. Since we read that more likely, we'll never get any mobile IFLOS system for FCLP setups. This place can be a sorta alternative, though not perfect,. Can't say if the glideslope's degrees of the PAPI versus the Carrier's IFLOS is different as it is in real life, but so far it does the job even though not the best setup but can be life savers for beginners trying to get used to the birds behavior, without thinking too much of the ship's rear-end, and PAPI's are easier to spot from distance, specialy in VR, so might be a good training for beginners traning to intercept, follow a glidesope, without wasting too much time trying to spot the ball on the carrier wich need getting used to. Just felt like showing what it can look like for those who wanna feel the bird and get used to breaks etc without being stressed by missing the carrier or smashing onto it or simply getting used to intercept a glideslope from a pattern. Here's a small video to show what i mean, again i didn't made it for a perfect pass nor precedures or tutorial, was simply watching my replay to enjoy this beautiful module landing in my favorite map and decided to share the info for those who wants to try it out, i was a bit rusty after a few months when i hop in back a few days ago, but no ones was injured or killed on my landing, so that's a fair win. :) PS: If there is news or developement on a working mobile IFLOS ystem, let me know. :)
  17. i've been out the sim for about 4-5 months, just realised we still have this issue, anyone read anywhere if this might get on working list ventualy by the DEVs? Or is it something it does int he real Hornet modeled in DCS and we are stucked with it as is?
  18. Tracks replays is not only an issue in DCS, but always also been in FSX at the time i flown in it, synching stuff with AI's seems to be hard thing these kind of game environement. Though, DCS is not bad at all, on my side, only time i'm having issues now with replays now is: 1- When using a Carrier (specialy the Hornet and Stennis), the second i touch it, either by taking off from it or land on it, it desynchs replays after with some weird altitude lost, like the replay afterward gets my altitude reading wrong, besides that, no issue, even when forwarding the replay, so far most of them didn'T gave me errors. 2- trying to replay a track recorded with an older version after some patches updates. REad quite a bit about ti and so much theories it gets confusing, including some what having some hardware overclocked stuff can alter replays, like GPU OCed or CPU Oced.
  19. Also if not changed, you could also affect more than one Tacan per group, in other words, if in the group for training purpuses or what ever, you have a Stennis for the Hornets, a Tarawa for the Harriers, in the future, the carrier that will come with the Tomcat, not sure if the Russian carrier and Carlson has Tacan capability in the ME though, but in otehr words, all of those Carriers that has Tacan to them, would be able to have each a different tacan assigned to them...unless it changed from the last time i tried a few months ago.
  20. I remember the annoyance in TRackIR, but in Vr i don't really mind, as most of the time, my eyes moves around when my head points in a general direction, i mean, if i look at my UFC, my eyes moves, not that much my head, or the smallest amount it moves, i got used to it i presume... will have to check next time i fly how much i'm annoyed, got so used to it i don't even noticed unfortunately.
  21. I would not grab it as i have no interest to fly it, but, escorting a cargo bird flown by a human and fly formation with would be cool, not to mention air refueling from a human flown Tanker would be cool.
  22. That is why he said « i know it's not true but.. »
  23. Maybe, but that is beyound my knowledge unfortunately :( i tried to make it force in the mission editor with flags and arguments but never worked...
  24. I don't wanna sound rude friend, though i know what you feel. On my own experience, i'm more into flight sims than car race sims, since ever. I recently bought Dirt Rally in VR, it said to be a Rally race Sim, i know shit about cars, car setups, how to properly drift and all the things that exept driving from point A to B as i do in real life, i totaly suck at racing in that game, totaly. Though i accept the fact people wants more fidelity, more challenge, more possibilities to setup stuff in the car and mechanics as close to the real thing. Though i won't ask them to make it easier, les game and more like the old Project Gotham 2 game on old condoles, and make it a less sim, as there is so much other racing games around i go just turn around to and play, i simply accept how it'S made and the purpuse of it and try to learn. FC3 is old, really old, now the era is trying to get the aircrafts modules closer to the real thing. There is a few other flight sims that nakes the purpuse of easiest things, as in the racing games i mentionned. It takes them enough time to come up with a module, if you ask them to model an altenative for easy flying, it'll take even more times to come up with it and double the chances of bugs. Yes weapons can be complex, but it's a sim, not a Arma game or Battlefield, on contrary, people whine when it's not close enough to the real thing, as Dirt Rally, making custom settings as per how you want your front differential, suspension, your rear ones, how you want your gear ratio set, spring releasing tention etc. it's a pain and i know shit, but majority of peaople like it this way, you cna leave it default, but you suck at with them. So it'S either i read, watch movies ont he subjet or go with the flow, i won'T go ask the developpers to make a casual driver a different programming of the game because i don't wanna learn them. With Youtube now, you can learn pretty much all moduels in here, since there is so many tutorials ont he net, and most under 10 minutes, learing little by little, no need to learn all systems, after that, not only learning the system, but learning the dynamics of flying can also become a problem for him, dogfighting someone that knows maneuvers, ever as basics as they are as High, Low- yoyos' maintianing energy, will also makes him frustrated if he knows nothing. Reminds me in Dirt Rally cuz i can't propely understand to maintain and use momentum in Hair-Pins turns. :)
  25. So far i've only seen someone who made the 3D models of the system, though the IFLOS aren't working so basicly just a static objet. After i got back after 4 months out the sim, i flew back last night, and realised Dubai's International has PAPI lights, i tried it for the heck, can'T say if the PAPI glideslope is different from the carrier's IFLOS glideslope as per real life though.
