  1. GReetings guys (or mostly Skatezilla :)) Are the intensity of scratches we had on canopy a few patches ago are something defined in the 3D modeling that can only be set in 3D Max? I want to put them up a bit higher, as in VR i don'T see them at all even when directly staring at the sun, and i liked it when we had them, really made the feeling of having a glass around my head, now i feel like an invisible glass is there as much as flying canopy less, as i don't see any DDS that can be used for it with a defined alpha chanel, the f18c_cpt-glass_norm.dds doesn't hold much.
  2. I only tried once a WW2 Warbird, the Mustang, and was terrible. :) But i only flew it once, so from all i flew, the hardest to get the hang of it to lkand, was the AV-8B, VTOL landing as per trying to do it real life style, was tricky, doing the carrier break and landing on it, getting it steady for hover landing etc... Ever the learning of Hover take-off was hard, without going al over the planet. As per Helicopters, between the Gazelle, Huey and MI-8, i can say the Gazelle eas the hardest to keep steady in ground effet, though the last time i flew it, tons of patches came after, so it might had quite a lot changed since then.
  3. Even on cold start they aren't folded? Must be a bug, last time i loaded on the carrier cold start, wings were folded.
  4. Maybe because aircraft liveries you might wanna change them on start-up as you fly with others and wanna look alike, or because you get on a server you don't like the skin they put by default, though Cockpit option is something you mostly always use, and once set in your option you always get it, in other words, why would you like too fool around with english cockpit and change it to russian right in the middle of a flight? If i want my Hornet cockpit dusty as someone made, well i use it always as default, if one day i am tired of it, i simply turn it off before loading a mission or multi-player session? Personaly i think it'll simply be a useless option. But we all have our likes. In otehr words, why having a pointless other item to pre-load as 1% of people might change in-game, don't we have enough pre-loading screens? Cuz i presume, the more option we need to change in-game, the more stuff it needs to pre-load to be accessable?
  5. Come on guys, you all know what the hell you are all atalking about, it's not Rocket Science to come up with a F-22 or any new gen Fighters... Here's the total specification data sheet for a Raptor... If Hasbro was able to get their hands on the datas and make it for G.I. Joe, then totaly means we can get it in DCS! tsss :P http://www.jomitoys.com/2012/10/gijoe-raptor-jet-thunderwing.html « Sarcasm » lock here. :)
  6. If you'Re going the same speed in both videos, just open your first one in one web browser window, then open the other in anotehr window, put them aside, start them both, and look at them yourself, the one closer to the ground and over land have the illusion of going faster? I take reference going through inside the front canopy FoV on both cases which is the fastest things seems to be going closest to your eyes. Also what i meant is, yep FoV might has advantage, but the further away from you things are, the slowest it feels they go, do a flyby 4 ft away from a jet mid air, then do a pass same speed, 1 nm away from it, difference will be the distance from the objet but both goes the same speed, just further away, same ocurs if you take a rope, attach a bucket at the end then spin it fast, you'll see the bucket seems to be going faster than the rope just at the end of your thumb.
  7. Glad to hear. :) Don'T forget to look around Modelviewer for liveries work, helps i ton to see the progress. :)
  8. No matter the hardware you have, if you can do it and works like a charm with you, that's all matters. :)
  9. Circle? in other words at first sight you'd get confused as per, are you locked on target, which is circle, or it'S an unlock friendly which is circle also? And what about a locked friend by mistake on boresight, a circle, inside a circle, inside a circle.... that's pretty much a bunch of circles if real Hornets would be as this..
  10. To be honest i do not think the screen has anything to do, i cannot read your altitude, but i can say by the look of it, you're way lower than than 600 ft, and, close to the land/buildings, which gives you a fast moving eye references, the videos shows a 600 ft, over sea only which is flat, no objets, nothing to judge your speed from, you have as much feeling of speed over sea that 30 000 ft high with no static references. That's my own opinion though. In otehr words, the lowest you are to the ground and the more static objet you get, the faster you seem to bemoving, versus higher and sea which has no details/objets, but only waves.
  11. Might not be it, but one thing that comes to my mind since you see a few of them; Liveries appears in mission editor as per specified country in the .lua file, so if you create for exemple, a Canadian aircraft, only liveries with Canada in the description.lua file will be available. So if you select US as country, only liveries available to US will be listing.
  12. Just make yourself a mod, using OVGME, so each time you make an update, disable the mods, then reenable after
  13. My first few tests ends with stroke_thickness = 0.7 stroke_fuzziness = 0.3 I'll try more eventualy but seems nice
  14. I'm been reading on forums quite a bit for this a few weeks ago, and no matter which forums i went, the end answer was, you can get a small gain, but so small that doing it is not even worth it.
  15. The main goal was to get the hang of getting into landing config, properly trim with controled AoA and get the hang form going fast, to landing, expecting how the aircraft will behave with gears and flaps going down etc. Forget the numbers as what OP wants is the getting on AoA. That'S why i showed that movie.
  16. Any country and you can narrow the aircraft list by selecting TRANSPORT in the role/category. If anyone interested, i made myself an Air Canada A320 & A380 and decided to share it with you guys, just uploaded on the File section. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301889/
  17. I was wondering the same, as even though i still do the process, so the day it'll be implemented, i won'T have all of a sudden to extend 3-4 minutes my waiting time. I wounder if that really does matter though, as each time i go on most severs, all i see is Hornets taking off ASAP with fully loaded of AAMRAMS only and thats it, as long as they can spam their AIM-120, INS or not people don't care :(
  18. Just went a few pages up and got it all confused when you said it helped to know the tanker speed for RV, was webweaver40 telling that to Flamin Squirrel not you. :)
  19. Thanks for the head's up. Then i quit DCS and gonna shop myself a real Hornet on Amazone if it,S easier :P Thanks again. But yeah it seemed way much more tricky on my side than the video i've found from Australian Hornet's landing at a really windy Airshow. Looking at the trees and the Hornet it seems windy as hell, but he lands it like there's nothing there, steady as hell. Impressive, and that's the video that gave me the idea to try a windy landing.
  20. Thanks. Yeah if only i knew how it behaves in Real Life that would helped me quite a bit to deal with it maybe. Only things i flew in real life was big R/C Helicopters and ended up to anticipate the behavior when downind and when upwind but in DCS landing with that wind and turbulence was tricky, took me quite a while to gauge it and learn that i had to come in higher than lower as i crossed the sea/land edge, as i ended up being pushed up as i crossed the land, so coming in higher avoided the baloon up effect needeing to drop a lot after for the threshold.
  21. I'd simply say, if not comfortable with, just start practicing it, fly straight at a speed with gears, flaps up, loose speed, let the nose drop a little, then manage your throttle to avoid to sink to fast as you start trimming, so your flight path marker intercept the E bracket until you get an orange donut on your AoA indexer at a more or less 2.5/3 degrees pitch down so basicly visualy intercept your E bracket and FPM in sorta the middle of your artificial horizon on your HUD and the -5 degree pitch ladder, then once both are together, adjust rate of descent to get to 0 or simply fly lever as you just add power throttle for a level flight. Then speed up, gears, flaps up, and repeat. Once comfortable then go ahead and try at the break. No magic recipe, practice will be the recipe, the more you do it the easiest it'll get. Manage it then after think about the numbers. If you practice what i said, you'll be able to manage a gradual trimming, control of your rate of descent, and managing your rate of descent on speed with the proper AoA. After that it'll be easier to anticipate how to do it as you roll out your 180 and get in downwind. Or better yet, practice how Lex made it quite simple in his video.
  22. Totaly agree, would avoid the back and forth in mission editor and laod the mission to see how fast it makes it goes in-game... reason why i always copied/paste my tankers from a mission to another, too laysy to adjust it each time. :music_whistling:
  23. Thanks man for the input and glad you two shaked hands. :) But i've done all this, i did about over 200 Carrier landings trying to get it almost perfect, which i doupt will ever be lol, i think i landed more the Hornet since it came out than i've droped bombs, i wasted the Virtual Armed Forces tired depot inventory faster than the Armory depot. :) So did i with the Shit Hot Break, coming in at 500 KIAS, 500 ft. breaking as i reach the boat's stern etc... I was just doing it a few times to get out the the usual 800/600 usual pattern i was doing, just to learn or try new stuff, it'S even knew i am using the ICLS, i usualy tried to go with numbers. Specialy the runway in persian gulf i found out to practice, it'S nice and causy :) But has no ILS, no Tacan, not even a ATC Tower, so i created a Waypoint to act as a Tacan, so it's basicly just praticing VFR landings and trying to get the numbers or sorta. I'm clumsy so i'll never ever get my stuff dead on as the real pilot that'S for sure. :) As i said, i've been practicing VFR stuff a lot, the best i could, so far i am not interested in Case III, i love seing the landscape as i fly, and night flying in VR gets a bit... boring from my point of view. As you can see on those videos, not perfect at all, but here's a few different approaches i'Ve done and tried, and why i am trying to get a new way to land as per not 800 ft/600 ft. As seen here i even tried to practice Holding patterns down to the deck, Spinning.. Shit Hot Break, that i just tried for the heck of it, but only done it a few times, not something i do often but wanted to try to see how fast i would kiss the boat's rear end and swim around the boat. :) And trying out a Carrier altitude pattern on an airfield with 20 kts crosswind, which was harder than i'Ve thought on my side. :) I even made the wind blowing from left to right to make me adjust the other side of the carrier's effect of moving constantly right, to practing adjusting the otehr side. They are not perfect and i never or will never claim being able to do them perfectly, but i wanted tu try a new not perfect approach just to break my routine.
  24. I just said that because i didn't wanted this thread to end up like a thread i created yesterday and wasn't fun. :) What i simpy meant was, when you go to rejoin the Tanker, is like when you go to land at the airfiel, the airfield doesn't have a speed (ok now you'Re gonna tell me, what if it'S a carrier, then i'll say, touché :)), right? How you know it comes closer, the Tacan, Waypoint distance diminish or raise, so you know you're getting closer or further away, that all matters. Once you get in visual, you don't even need the tacan distance anymore, when visual, all you need is judgement in my own opinion, airfield gets bigger, you get closer, the tanker gets closer, it gets bigger, it'S up gauge how fast it's gett bigger/coning closer to adjust your speed. Ok now you'Re gonna tell me, well, if it's pitch black, you can't visualy see if it gets bigger/closer... well, i'll say, turn your NVG on. :) I was just trying to tell you not to get a wrong/bad habbit, so if you get on a server that doesn't allow stuff to be seen from F-10 map view, then you'll be able to get to the tanker. In other words, rejoining the tanker is not like to conduct an interception of an unkown aircraft after a scramble, which everything matters if i am not mistaken, where you need to be on precise spot at precise distance trying to avoid being seen etc... that is another story that i haven,T explored yet. I ever ever used any tanker's speed to find them, refuel, and god knows hoe many i'Ve done, mid-air refueling, landings, touch and go, carrier trap is the things i like most, so if i can do it as clumsy i am, anyone can, even Mr. Magoo :) But again, as we often say, it's your Sim and you do how ever you want it, was just trying to help. :)
  25. Must be a tough shit to use rudder pedals with clown shoes :S:joystick:
