I am not talking about the yaw ap channel issue; it doesn't bother me, as I got used to how it works from Black Shark. This issue is related with course following autopilot, not the ap channels per se. Since there is no official manual, I am not %100 percent positive it is not a mechanization error on my part, but it seems to be a persistent problem. After some time, the autopilot can no longer keep the course, and can deviate as much as 40 degrees from the set heading. I've ruled out rudder coordination, and wind (tried in a no wind scenario). I will try and record a track today, and maybe someone can point out if it is a step I'm missing.
-
What I said. After a while, the course following autopilot deviates from the set course. No wind, no crabbing, with yaw channel set to the same heading, it veers off course; can't hold course. I'll try to make a track tonight.
-
Besides problems with the pitch channel, the course autopilot cannot hold a steady course on the set heading. To refresh on other unresolved issues, you might want to check out the Bugs and Problems subforum for the Hind. Sorunları çözmek için yeterince çaba gösterilmediği konusunda yapıcı eleştiride bulunmak için "Amerikalı" olmak gerekmiyor.

After so many years, radio and comms still not working

I have been a big fan of ED since Flanker 2.0 times, and will likely remain so. But honestly, the big picture is that half-baked products appears to be the name of the game here. A couple of items in the update list, even minor ones, would have made many folks happy. And lack of it gives the impression that Hind development is shelved at this time. I understand that they need cashflow and AH64 is probably one of the top selling modules, so they're concentrating resources on it, but c'mon... not a single line for the Hind in the whole list? Slap in the face really. Knowing ED, I had postponed my purchase of Hind for a long time, and resisted the temptation, until the current SimFest discount. What can I say? Just keep waiting, I guess.
-
I was thinking about purchasing the AH64 also, but I think I'm gonna wait until the mi24 gets some much needed attention, the autopilot issues in particular. It was really disappointing that there was not even a single line for the Hind in the update list.

Hello, I've been messing around with the Mission Generator templates. I tried to add Mig21 flights, but Mig21 is not included in the groups dropdown menu. So, I tried to edit the others.lua and combattemplates.lua (or somesuch), and managed to have Mig21 flights listed in the groups menu to add to a template. But, when I push the 'generate' button, no units are generated. Can someone direct me to a source or information that explains how to add aircraft which are not listed in the groups dropdown menu to the Mission Generator? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~S~

Unfortunately, persistent/dynamic missions support only the beta build -
After so many years, radio and comms still not working

Perhaps so. Bummer tho, I like this old bird and the module overall. I took my mig15 for a spin, everything working fine with that one (which has quirky comms also) and all the others I tried (ww2 birds, su25A&T, KA50 and others). Thanks guys for the answers. Guess not gonna hold my breath for a fix. ~S~ -

Try the instant action cold start mission at Nalchik. Ask the tower for permission to start up. -
Hello, I decided to give the mig21 another try after several years. In two persistant campaigns that I have tried (Operation Enable and Through the Inferno: Caucasus), and in the stock missions (training and others), the comms are still not working on both the easy and non-easy comms setting. The squelch noise is there; the channel is set correctly; power is on etc. I checked the mission files in the editor and confirmed that the frequencies were correctly assigned to respective channels. So what's the deal here? I can live with unrealistic avionics and other quirks of this module, but lack of ATC and AWACS communication is a gamebreaker. I do not have this problem with any other modules. So I don't buy the "DCS updates broke the module" line. This issue has been with this module since 2015. I must say it is very poor showing by Leatherneck or Magnitude (not sure who is responsible for fixing basic bugs) and not a great incentive to purchase their other offerings. If there is a solution to the comms problem that I am not aware of (I read up on it on the forums here), please advise. Kind regards

I was looking forward to trying this one, but it just hangs at mission load, forcing me terminate the DCS.exe process. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Running the latest version of stable DCS.

I have experience using thermal imaging cameras and I understand the limitations of the technology. It does not change the fact that FLIR modeling is completely absent in DCS, not even remotely. Looking through the TGP, you see the same textures in black and white, which is why it is impossible to see targets hiding inside forests, or even in plain view. This is a shortcoming that ED has acknowledged and had long promised to fix in the new engine (a promise yet to be kept), but feel free to argue that FLIR is modeled in DCS, but people can't tell the difference
-
It is very sad to see that FLIR, an essential aspect of modern military aviation, remains unmodeled in the sim after so many years. What's the point of having any mud movers (even flagships like A10 and F18) in the game if we don't have FLIR, really? I think I'll go back to not flying DCS.
-
Are you, by any chance, using a Saitek stick? If so, check to see if this problem occurs when using Team Speak. TS is not compatible with the Saitek programming software for some reason.
-
I think the lack of functional FLIR modeling is a key shortcoming of the DCS series. When I raised this question a few years back, I was told that this could only be addressed when the new engine would be released (2.0). And now that we have the alpha out, here's hoping something even remotely resembling FLIR will be eventually introduced.

That show is an embarrassment, really.

MBot, I think you should consider commercializing this project. That'd be the right thing to do.

I'm guessing, visual ROE would be unlikely in place, since they'd have required the Turkish interceptors to themselves violate the Syrian airspace.
