  1. Hello, I've been messing around with the Mission Generator templates. I tried to add Mig21 flights, but Mig21 is not included in the groups dropdown menu. So, I tried to edit the others.lua and combattemplates.lua (or somesuch), and managed to have Mig21 flights listed in the groups menu to add to a template. But, when I push the 'generate' button, no units are generated. Can someone direct me to a source or information that explains how to add aircraft which are not listed in the groups dropdown menu to the Mission Generator? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~S~
  2. Unfortunately, persistent/dynamic missions support only the beta build
  3. Perhaps so. Bummer tho, I like this old bird and the module overall. I took my mig15 for a spin, everything working fine with that one (which has quirky comms also) and all the others I tried (ww2 birds, su25A&T, KA50 and others). Thanks guys for the answers. Guess not gonna hold my breath for a fix. ~S~
  4. Try the instant action cold start mission at Nalchik. Ask the tower for permission to start up.
  5. Hello, I decided to give the mig21 another try after several years. In two persistant campaigns that I have tried (Operation Enable and Through the Inferno: Caucasus), and in the stock missions (training and others), the comms are still not working on both the easy and non-easy comms setting. The squelch noise is there; the channel is set correctly; power is on etc. I checked the mission files in the editor and confirmed that the frequencies were correctly assigned to respective channels. So what's the deal here? I can live with unrealistic avionics and other quirks of this module, but lack of ATC and AWACS communication is a gamebreaker. I do not have this problem with any other modules. So I don't buy the "DCS updates broke the module" line. This issue has been with this module since 2015. I must say it is very poor showing by Leatherneck or Magnitude (not sure who is responsible for fixing basic bugs) and not a great incentive to purchase their other offerings. If there is a solution to the comms problem that I am not aware of (I read up on it on the forums here), please advise. Kind regards
  6. I was looking forward to trying this one, but it just hangs at mission load, forcing me terminate the DCS.exe process. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Running the latest version of stable DCS.
  7. I have experience using thermal imaging cameras and I understand the limitations of the technology. It does not change the fact that FLIR modeling is completely absent in DCS, not even remotely. Looking through the TGP, you see the same textures in black and white, which is why it is impossible to see targets hiding inside forests, or even in plain view. This is a shortcoming that ED has acknowledged and had long promised to fix in the new engine (a promise yet to be kept), but feel free to argue that FLIR is modeled in DCS, but people can't tell the difference
  8. It is very sad to see that FLIR, an essential aspect of modern military aviation, remains unmodeled in the sim after so many years. What's the point of having any mud movers (even flagships like A10 and F18) in the game if we don't have FLIR, really? I think I'll go back to not flying DCS.
  9. Are you, by any chance, using a Saitek stick? If so, check to see if this problem occurs when using Team Speak. TS is not compatible with the Saitek programming software for some reason.
  10. I think the lack of functional FLIR modeling is a key shortcoming of the DCS series. When I raised this question a few years back, I was told that this could only be addressed when the new engine would be released (2.0). And now that we have the alpha out, here's hoping something even remotely resembling FLIR will be eventually introduced.
  11. That show is an embarrassment, really.

  13. MBot, I think you should consider commercializing this project. That'd be the right thing to do.

  15. No news is good news :)
  16. I'm guessing, visual ROE would be unlikely in place, since they'd have required the Turkish interceptors to themselves violate the Syrian airspace.
  17. A few years ago, a Turkish F4E was shot down by Syrian air defenses (assumably operated by Russians) for momentarily crossing the Syrian airspace over the Mediterranean. Recently, the Turkish airspace was violated twice by Russian aircraft. They were warned that further violations will not be tolerated and met with force. So, Turkey has already been really (perhaps too) patient with these acts of aggression.
  18. Great to hear it's in the plans :) Thank's for the info
  19. I look forward to an update about whether thermal imaging (a functional one) will be implemented with 2.0. It is an important shortcoming of 1.x.
  20. I'm looking forward to world 2.0. I saw many things that I liked very much (lighting, object scaling, new AI options etc.). To be useful, however, I'd like to share a concern: the shadows. When taxiing, the shadow cast by the F15 appeared out of shape, and too blueish maybe? Also, at low altitude, terrain shadows appeared unnatural to me. It is hard to describe, but they just do not look natural. I'm looking forward to a heli version to get a better impression.
  21. I'm enjoying the current version of DCS, so I don't mind waiting a few more months, or years even, for 2.0. Just take your time to make sure it's up to your standards. Will we have to wait for the release of 2.0 to get the new Mig 29, though?
  22. You're welcome. You can adjust all aspects of the blue and red forces. Check out the Mission Generator Guide for detailed instructions: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90012
  23. In the Mission Editor, you can modify the Mission Generator templates.
