  1. Although it is questionably "realistic" and obviously not intuitive for these birds, that right there is the key to taking off smoothly in both the DCS 109 and the DCS 190. Just go full throttle (without WEP) with right rudder (halfway is more than enough) and it'll takeoff smoother than an F86 :) In DCS, the German birds need to pick up speed QUICK during takeoff (else torque (ironically), p and wash will overtake and kill you). Be mindful of that and you can take off without losing alignment with the centerline, even against a strong crosswind.
  2. I didn't think you were :) Thank you for directing me to the right place to post my question :beer:
  3. I'm reposting this here, as I was warned that this was the right place to ask this question, so here goes: I've added a few templates to the Mission Generator to include P51D (on the red side) and FW190, and BF109K (on the blue side). It works great, except sometimes the generator engine assigns curious skin choices to aircraft (USSR Modern for P51, etc.), which does not help with immersion. Is there a way I can specify which particular skin each aircraft gets from the outset? I know I can manually change the skins in the mission editor, but I rather have all aircraft spawn with a predefined skin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Finally! I had missed the earlier sale, but this one I surely did not :) Completed my WWII and Korean era arsenal, plus the SU27 campaign and Combined Arms :))) Me a happy puppy :)
  5. Please do away with the smashing bulbs banner Thank you.
  6. hehe, and I always thought ArmA driver AI was bugged :)
  7. Update - 22 June 2013 We have completed our internal discussion of the availability of the "upgraded" Flaming Cliffs aircraft and we have decided to make them available for free to Flaming Cliffs 3 customers. We believe that this will add a very high level of new content to the FC3, it will avoid duplicate aircraft types, and we hope it will broaden the appeal of FC3 to an even larger audience. Did I mention that FC3 is currently on sale? Thank you ED, for viewing and treating your customers the way you do. I'm gonna have to make a purchase to show my gratitude. Cheers
  8. IMHO, a civilian aircraft would be of little value in DCS World, given the tiny map and lack of an ATC system in place.
  9. And be sure not to press P more than one time. A second press on "P" will remove a deployed chute.
  10. In my opinion, high fidelity systems simulation is the main, perhaps the sole, selling point for ED products. If ED are intent in going with making lo-fi sims as their core line, they better begin worrying about improving gameplay value of their products.
  11. I'd imagine the error would be too high (in the neighborhood of 100%, depending on closure rate) to worth the effort. But then, just my 2c.
  12. If you're implying using trig to solve for target range, then note that this would work only if you have zero closure rate to the target, i.e. your distance to the target (edit: and relative altitude) remains the same throughout, which is almost never the case.
  13. In my opinion it will detract from MIT brand value. The more people have something (a certification stamped with an MIT seal), the less valuable it is. I'd hate it if I were an MIT grad :)
  14. More entertaining? Likely. More realistic? Possibly, but it remains to be seen.
  15. It will not be easy to beat AccuSim. It even models combustion (not that ED P51 will not... it is just that we don't have the details yet). So, systems modeling-wise, I'm guessing ED P51 may have difficulty surpassing A2A.
  16. There is currently an unmet need in the sim community for a "quality" WW2 sim. I hope ED fills it.
  17. IMHO, using "words" - especially big ones - to express intentions is laughable and counterproductive in diplomacy. Iranians' having said that they would was a sure sign that they cannot/will not take any steps to block oil tanker traffic through the strait.
  18. By launching the P51, ED is signaling they're poised to liberate the WW2 simmer community in the not so distant future from a long-standing love/hate relationship with a certain developer of an extremely bugged cockpit shadow simulator... I wish
  19. Correct, the order for 100 (plus 16 on option) aircraft is currently on hold, for the US backtracked on their promise to supply the software code to systems as originally agreed. At USD 160 million a piece, F35 is way overpriced anyhow (although these 2 cost USD ~130 million each). The whole point of Turkey's joining in the deal was tech transfer, but it became irrelevant now.
  20. Ah, I see. Thank you for the clarification.
  21. I apologise if I misunderstood what you said, but are you suggesting that Turkey partnered in the F35 development process and committed to purchasing the birds to share any knowledge acquired in them with the Chinese?
  22. In my opinion, it'd have been far wiser for the Turkish Air Force to spend its money on UAV research than this overpriced show-bird (though it sure has the looks).
  23. Doing so using may be a less patronizing style may help avoid similar reactions in the future. Also note that the poster in question posted in "English," not in Turkish. And everyone - except you apparently - understood which country he referred to. And you are the only one who took issue with his post. This should ring a bell, perhaps. Anyhow, best let's drop this here or you can PM me if you wish to drag this further. Cheers
