We will be hitting the NTTR server to practice BVR engagements. Ramrod will be controlling and other squadrons will be loaded with air to air loadouts. We will take off from Nellis, and 1-2 squadrons will run BVR at a time while the other regroups (or respawns in case of shoot down). At the end we will all join back up in formation to fly back to Nellis to practice airfield patterns. Training will be no more than 2 hrs with a slightly longer debrief to go through and learn from each engagement.
  2. Yeah that fits my experience as well. They were my favorite people to deal with. The map would be really interesting to show seasons if that happens.
  3. Interesting! It's in a pretty good location.
  4. Mosul, Tal Afar, Kirkuk, Irbil, Sulaymaniyah (Early 2004, large runway, if a bit un-level, and civilian), Balad (Late 2003). Those are not including FOBs, which are kind of all over the place. I can't remember if Q-West was used as an airfield, or just a heliport.
  5. It was a nod to artists depicting the area. Appreciation that people can get it accurate and authentic, whether movie or sim.
  6. Oh geeze, he must be mistaken, because I'm looking at Google Earth at the moment and it's clearly Baghdad Intl. Small potatoes.
  7. The artists did a great job of depicting it in the movie Green Zone, in the first weeks/months of OIF, complete with the bombed out airliner in the parking area. I wish I had a good clip of it. Edit, here you go:
  8. Can't farm a goat. You can herd one.
  9. Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. For this drop, though, I was level/steady at about 25k. I don't remember if I had winds set though, so that might be a factor.
  10. I'm having some trouble trying to bomb a runway. I want my bombs to drop at a 500ft interval, but I can never seem to get them to space out evenly. Here's an example where I used 900ft interval. This is the best I've seen so far. Most of them drop in the same spot or are about 100ft apart. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? 11. Yeah originally when I think of Iraq, the only mountains are in the North. Then I started looking on Google Earth and those mountains that are shown in the video look more similar to the Iran region due east of Baghdad. They do not look like the mountains in Kurdistan. So, I'm guessing here, what NineLine said in the other thread is Baghdad then South. (sadly) I will say the sharper edges to the mountains are looking really nice, if that's indeed what we get.
  12. This is excellent news NineLine. Prepare for the SMEs on this one! If you're able to answer any of the below questions, It would be appreciated: 1. What was the reasoning for expanding south, and leaving the North out of your plans? I know you won't be able to make everyone happy, just curious. 2. In the 2024/beyond video, are you able to tell us what the regions of Iraq were showcased? I saw Baghdad, but I'm thinking specifically of the valley in 3:42 and the mountain range in 5:46?
  13. It does indeed snow there. Quite a bit, actually. Except it's in the North, sadly, an area they don't plan on giving us. The winter season will give you lots of green South of Mosul.
  14. I'm personally more interested in OIF regions. Gulf War is interesting, but it's really another large flat sandy map. The Northern borders of Syria, Turkey, Iran have such varied terrain, so much opportunity for interesting missions. Let's not forget Mosul. Granted, much of the action up there was helo-based, but if ED is transitioning to a dynamic campaign with support assets like the C-130 and Chinook, it would be perfect. Plus, there are flat lands too.

AAR Tough mission! Palmyra was being attacked from two fronts by Soviet armor, artillery, and Hinds. The 1st ARB (AH-64s) got to the site first and provided route recon. Wolf-1 went East along the main MSR and Gun-2 went North to set up an ambush point in the mountains. Each flight provided an informal FAC(A) for their respective groups. Dude-1(F15e) flew CAP over the area, taking losses, but ultimately keeping the airspace clean. Wolf-1 worked with Nickel flights (F16s) to provide coordinates on large convoys from the East. Nickel cleaned up that area with minimal losses from SHORADs. Gun-2 reigned down hell on the North convoy, stopping it, then providing FAC(A) to our Hellcats (F18s). Despite the good work by Hellcat and Nickel, some enemy armor units arrived at the airport. Luckily, their numbers were so diminished that the friendly Syrian forces were able to defend themselves successfully. Dude, Wolf/Gun, Nickel, and Hellcat flew home into the sunset.
  16. Quality post, my friend. Thank you! I'll definitely want to adjust for the 15, but this is an excellent basis to work off of.
  17. Just got the problem w/ the Aim120. Left side of the jet. Wing pylon.
  18. Thanks for the info. I'll try this out and see what I'm able to do. I did notice in my previous testing that with GBU-31s, you really don't have to go all that high. In most instances, it would just be best to go above their range, but there are other SAMs in the area to be aware of as well.
  19. Hello all. Anyone have good workable tactics for tossing JDAMS from low-level? I'm trying to avoid a SA-15 as much as possible. Still working out some ideal tossing parameters. I've tried the 4g pull-up at 8mi, but I get pretty high there. What's a good distance to start gaining altitude for the toss?
  20. Thanks for the help, all. I'm slowly working through the suggestions above, so far with little/no results. There seems to be a 1sec stutter in the server I use, so I think I've nailed that down. As for everything else, that spike never caused stutter until I got my 7800x3D, so I'm wondering if it is causing something to react on my CPU. When I go single player, the spike is gone and is replaced by micro-stutters. I can't seem to win with this platform.
  21. Interesting. Ok, so that tells me it's not DCS. And I tried doing 60hz with the same 1sec stutter. I'm about 90% sure now it's some sort of background process in Windows. Question is how the heck to find it.
  22. RCtrl+Scroll Lock It's the DCS native frame counter. Not sure what it's called in the keybindings.
  23. I don't have it on 60hz, just 90hz right now. I'm about to try that in a min. I'm seeing a stutter about every second, or just under a second. It's there whether I'm over terrain or city. You can see the jump in this graph that I'm posting. Funny thing is, I'm running at around 80fps with 4-8ms frametime. It's gotta be something to do with memory or DCS.
  24. Thanks for posting your testing results. Question: What is FFR? 7800x3D + 4090 + 32gb Ram and I'm getting high FPS (60min), somewhere around 10 frametime, but anytime I look 90deg out the window it's a stuttering mess. I've got everything turned off. Only thing I can think of is I have OpenXR enabled.
