Exactly my experience. I thought, and maybe I'm wrong but, when developing software you don't release the new code until it fixes or makes better the old code it is replacing. Maybe it's just me?

You seem to have forgotten at least one reason, that being ED makes more money if you don't buy on Steam and that is good for ED and us so that they can afford to keep making these amazing modules

Well, I had a warthog and it is anything other than low-cost but I replaced most of it and the difference was night and day for the good. The warthog was a nightmare for the apache. So I replaced the pedals and my warthog base, with its heavy spring, for a Virpil base, and now I can fly like an ACE (sometimes) The difference is enormous! So while hardware matters it's not always low-end hardware that is the problem.

Just did a quick maxed-out setup run and still 80 to 90 FPS so big thumbs up so far on MT I also run 3 screens at 5760x1080 So I'm still mad

Same here. Just taking the FPS count from where I start, before even touching the controls, there is a 50+ FPS increase. Oddly though I have an i7 9700 OC to 5 GHz and a 2080ti and my numbers are the same as yours, literally. Not sure if I should be happy or mad?? lol Also, no crashes so far.

I’d say it’s not even doable but to be fair this was a long time ago and things were a lot different with Steam positioning them as the DRM on their platform. FACEBOOK SUXS I just had to update my Rift account !@##@%!@#!#$@#@#%^&!!!!! Yeah that suxs, now they know my porn habits.

I was actually around when Steam first started and this was a big concern of users and Steam said if they ever go under they would remove all the DRM on your games. Not sure I believe them but I don't think they will go out of business anytime soon now. I'll probably be "gone" before they are so I'm not worried.

My thinking is along these lines also. Believe me I use Steam a LOT nothing against them, heck I have over 900+ games there. I just changed to DCS stand alone to do my little thing to help ED thrive in such a niche market. This was way back when they were just starting to become what they are today, an OS for flight sims with greeat third party developers, so I wanted to support that. I’ve read a lot reasons why not to support ED like alot of us do and a lot of them I never even thought of but can make perfect sense. So whatever floats your boat is fine but if you are able I would encourage you to switch.. To cfrag) I also have all the other third party game apps on my PC and have no issues with them and as far as I am concerned its all Steam. I just click on a icon and it opens the appropriate app and starts the game. Not knocking your history with them I just wanted to let others know thats not always the case. With that said the IRS man left something under my pillow and now I'm the proud owner of 55 dollars and 95 cents worth of F-15 air. Happing flying! But you can rest assured the delayed delayed Pre-order won't delay the unkown release date.
