I think DCS is something that wants to gooble up large amounts of VRAM ... I've seen 23GB of VRAM allocated on my system ... mostly though in the high teens.

I had this happen on Stix's excellent server in Syria ... yet I saw someone else refuelling so thought it must be something I am doing wrong....no not resolved it yet but am away from my machine and will try tonight.

Thank you will try this tonight - it’s bizarre how I cannot see the menus … i can see them on the ground / carrier but in the air on a particular MP server there was nothing.

Thanks guys - was definitely using the correct radio frequency for the tanker and also a tanker that has a drogue too!

Hi - I cannot call up the radio comms menu for refuelling at the tanker ... I have tried the "C" key, tried the HOTAS binded button and also scoured the comms options in settings. I select the right radio frequency in the COMMS 1 menu but nothing appears? This is in the practice mission.

What’s the best way to record a VR mission so that it looks “normal” on a 2d screen please? The issue I have with playing the trackfile is that your head movements are not replicated in the replay - or am I doing something wrong? Also would be great to have some kind of timeline functionality to the trackfile playback - ctrl z etc a bit fiddly. Also is there a way to set the mirror on my 2d screen to look normal? Currently i have rectangle selected in VR option and left eye selected. But it records the whole of desktop onto which the mirror is running … and the rectangle is 9:16 rather than the other way round.

This is so weird. When I land on the carrier, taxi to stop position, turn the engines off, open the canopy - I swear I can feel a cool breeze over the face. In my small room. Crazy. My fiancée is also getting seriously pi55ed off at the amount of time I am spending in DCS now. What will VR be like in 20 years!!??

24 hours on, just a very, very slightly sore top of the arm. Otherwise fine.

Had my second COVID jab today…AZ. First felt a bit rough but the second, absolutely fine. Pre-empted it with a couple of maddog AMRAAMs (two paratecomol an hour after the jab) and no issues.

I run the clouds in latest patch at Ultra - and the jitter fix is great. The performance for me is fine, the issue is the quality and they are nowhere near where they are in 2D (where they are amazing at Ultra setting).

Yup - great that the jitter is fixed. Now to get the visual quality up to / as close as 2D. I’m on ultra cloud settings and they are blurry.

Slight issue on my system: I have used the Asus mobo easy tuner to boost the performance of the CPU a bit but since my BIOS update the cpu only runs at 4.2GHz at full load (using CPU-Z bench test running all right cores. Why won’t it go to the full advertised 4.7GHz?

Once again thanks for this superb thread …. so useful. I have been flip-flopping between various settings starting with 80% in steam - then 90, then 100, and now settled on 80% - with motion smoothing - as per this thread’s suggestions. Seems v clear to my eyes and performance excellent. I raised AF to x16 and that has been a big visual improvement but kept MSAA to x2. After dozens of missions now over Syria, it still feels breathtaking heading out of Beirut, over the hills and along the Bekaa Valley. The ascent north east out of Incirlik is equally gorgeous. Tend to stick to MP servers to they can take the load of objects. Great job everyone!

I’d avoid fpsVR counter as you’ll only end up falling down the FPS rabbit hole endlessly chasing frames. Low FPS in VR is not like low FPS in 2d screen … it feels smoother and less jerky. I noticed you’re running a gtx1070 - next upgrade might be a new video card.

I'm looking at his extensions and springs to fit my HOTAS Warthog Stick to my rSeat N1 chassis ... simply the unit sitting on the floor of the rig is enough to keep it there. Will likely need a blue spring and the 20cm extension tube.

I downgraded the PCI-e slot for the add-on USB card (into which the G2 plugs in) from Gen 4 to Gen 3 via the BIOS. Obviously kept Gen 4 for everything else. Also avoid the beta of WMR ... that has issues ... but do use SteamVR beta version.

Did you go for the keeping data option on the drive or nuke everything and install from scratch?
