I will toss this idea here also. How about proposing ED to subsidies a civilian Gazelle version? Make it free. No costs for copy protection. No ED fee. Just little money from ED directed to Polychop? I am sure it can't be a problem of Principles but one of measure, measure as amount of money. Carefully negotiated and planned it could bring people to a free helicopter module in DCS and add some money to Polychop and quite a bit of fame (especially after the FM will be finalized :) )

A proposal for the usage role and business model of the CE2
zaelu replied to MikeMikeJuliet's topic in Christen Eagle II
I think the whole plane should be added to the free stable of planes of DCS. LNS/M3 could have an arrangement with ED for something like 2-3 years of payments that would make both sides happy. ED would have a great entry level aerobatic plane that would bring those aerobatic customers to DCS. M3 would have sure supply of money to actually develop next plane and fix Mig21. There is a good risk that the market for a 30$ small entry lever aerobatic plane will not be sufficient to keep M3 afloat. I think from those 30$ quite a sum represents the protection system and EDs fee. Making it free would remove necessity for protection and reverse the fee direction. imho selling it at 30$ is very risky and if M3 closes next year... we know very well why. P.S. making it half free will increase costs of production. -
My thoughts also. Thank you for not further develop/fix Mig21 (that is still being sold on a continuously evolving platform... is not like a game done and made "gold version"... it's like a service. if the game is maintained it keeps selling, if not... not) so you can build an aerobatic camera gimbal. :noexpression:

I really don't see much enjoyment to be "felt" out of a basically free movable camera. This plane is so nimble that in a simulation like DCS pretty much guarantees no FM necessity. Seriously... it will require how much skill to just toss it around an airfield so other players will see it and die of boredom. It is basically a F10 freecamera on steroids but with some cockpit. Extreme aerobatics make sense in real life where you have a sense of danger and you understand the limits and skill necessary to achieve that. But in a simulation?? :joystick: My advice for M3: Gauge carefully the reaction from public and deal with ED for a free introduction of this plane alongside Su-25T and TF51. Get some money from ED, even slowly in couple of years period. You will earn more money and not lose reputation. Sale this at 30$ and it will rust on the shelves and lose momentum.

P.S. I will buy this only if it's free... ;)
-
They will announce it during the new year celebrations... IAR93... errr Orao... then wonder why nobody is buying.
-
it could be a AH-1 Cobra though...

+1 for initial poster. At least it should be refurbished. Controls should simply have a button or so to command hiding of complex items for game mode not 15 separate complicated lists of controls (sorry to say... something more modern like Warthunder has). Also... for WW2 modules the separation in aids by form and mesure... just makes the whole thing daunting for a beginner (without help from a "veteran") as the OP said.

Those PVC pipes are they stiff enough? No wobble at all?

That is such an old/wrong perspective. Mig21 still sales! If they stop patching it and improving it the Module within DCS ecosystem gets obsolete... I'd say fast. The sales will start diminishing and your "prophecy" will self fulfill. In today's gaming industry you keep a game alive and earn money of it as much as possible. DCS is not Call of Duty to actually be better to drop every year the previous version but keep the franchise. It just works by keeping the franchise and the "game version" as much as possible and when you change it migrate everybody to the new one as cheaply as possible so you can still earn money of all modules. Mig21 already is not a star anymore. It was. Now feels dated and buggy. I stopped flying it because of delays in fixing small or big bugs (imho because the team got halved and Magnitude 3 is working on next module). That constant maintenance loop is what brings money for M3 (you think they eat from P38 or whatever plane they work on now? or interest on the money earned and put into a bank?) while developing the next module and also !!! asures good chances of success for the next module (I for example am put off in buying blindly their next one because I feel Mig21 was abandoned too much time and what happens now with 21 will happen with next one too... like it happens with all other modules. True that my trust in 3rd parties for DCS has taken a dent lately...

I don't think that Russia is what USA perceived it in the 60s. The FM of Su27/33 should be far more strategic than some villages around Black Sea. The best reason we don't have a bigger area around Black Sea must be a simpler one. Resources/Benefit.

like! can you do a fictional one to resemble the Lancer C ones?
-
Thanks Rudel_chw for the answer. For no I see no urge to switch. All my cokpit mods work IC fine loaded in DCS main directory it seems. At least for 2.1.
-
Welll... actually... you can do exactly that. :smartass:

Question: If I use the : mklink /d Liveries source_path_to_stuff option Can I have a folder Liveries or Mods in Saved games and one somewhere else and DCS use them both? Or once I make this symbolic link the folder that was there already is not used anymore? Thank you!

No worries, I wasn't really serious. Obviously who wants to restrict it should be able to do so like with any plane after all... you can't take a F15 to a Korea Sabre vs Mig15 scenario server. My only problem with this device (which probably I would pick up at a sale of +50%) is that knowing there are no plans for a DCS World with full planet (even low rez textures and no foliage etc) it feels a bit... flat earthed? I mean, this device could work on a Planet Earth scale but we will have to use it basically in a bathroom... on some maps that could be easily learned after few hours. I don't find precise (by the meter) navigation really necessary in a Mi-8 for example.
-
LOL. That reasoning... It's like Premium Access... Pay to win. How about if "DCS R77" is made as a 15$ module? Can I take it in a Cold War scenario? But I payed!!! Obviously I want it on Mi-8 too... :megalol:

Looking for a Huey cockpit mod.(Patos)
zaelu replied to 20thBG_Blackwolf's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Here it is, Rudel_chw. I hope Patos wouldn't mind sharing his work. https://we.tl/alzCti7iid I don't have the original readme as I never expected the files to be removed from DCSWorld user section where all the explanations were easy to find. I have only the original link ( https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2364217/ ) To install just place it either to liveries UH1H Cockpit from Mods folder in game folder or in User files in respective DCS World folder. -

zaelu replied to 20thBG_Blackwolf's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Yes, I think you will have to redo the mod... not sure if you can edit inside the zip archive... at least I can't edit OvGME archives with 7zip. I'll try later today when I return from... work :) -
Looking for a Huey cockpit mod.(Patos)
zaelu replied to 20thBG_Blackwolf's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Yeah, I have it. It seems all Patos files are deleted. To make it work you need to make it as a separate cockpit texture not as a replacement. First a question. Do you use OvGME or at least JSGME? If you install it manually then you need to take the folder where the individual dds files are located (if it is an archive you need to unpack it) and move it to: \DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Liveries\Cockpit_UH-1H\Black by Patos or \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Liveries\Cockpit_UH-1H\Black by Patos depending on what DCS version you are using. Note the folder "Liveries"!!! So now the extra cockpit textures are considered like liveries... like skins. And you just need to configure them a bit. After the move just place a Description.lua configured for it inside that folder. I attach mine here. The game will read that file and the folder is in (Be sure to rename the folder appropriately (mine is in red called "Black by Patos". Don't let it with default name after unpacking to avoid confusion!) and present you with an option to change to that cockpit texture from special tab in options... at UH1H page. The name is given by the folder and the description.lua file makes sure all is set correctly. here is a screenshot on how it looks for me (disregard the two other copies of description.lua... one is enough) description.lua -
My moneys are on general AI made by others... Like Google deep Mind or Tesla Open AI... etc. We need external bots connected to a game via Internet like normal clients. Zero hassle to develop for ED. They can focus on networking so the bots can fit in. No matter how much ED would try the scripted AI would still look dumb to humans.

Cool! Can you do a blue Mig29? :D -
Maybe someone strangled the original programmer that did it and now everybody is stuck with it and no explanation available. :smartass:
