I use (Opentrack 2.30 release) the default or almost default but with an PS3 camera and a IR LED arrangement similar to TrackIR clip Pro. http://imgur.com/a/fx9Q4

For me this doesn't look more real. There is good work in it but it breaks the spell some how. The trees and the noise1 textures in particular. The trees are bigger and more realistic than Starways thinner choice but they don't look like belonging in the game at all wile Starway's although thinner and breaking the idea of a true forest kind of blends better while still retaining a bit of usefulness in hiding troops or helicopters. The noise1 textures are very well done while looked in Photoshop but in game... somehow they become lifeless patterns.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
zaelu replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
For me it works. You scared me. My entire squadron mission is based on this. :D -
:D 14.9GB. But I think I don't have really a lot of them.

The duration might be OK. There are some moments during the mission when is silence (after talking with the tower and waiting for the double needle to reach 121), or maybe after turning to 121 when some of the info might be passed. The waypoint 2 can be selected early. It helps but at the final stage the workload can be reduced by it being already selected.. My main problems I think were related with the dash line and the square that can be confusing now because they are not very clear what they show, when and when the go haywire. Also not maintaining 6000 feet and then 3000 feet.

I managed to do it "cleanly" without getting lost. I changed the DEST waypoint to 02 before the actual moment of instruction because at that point usually I was handful. There are instructions about the altitude at some point but I observed them only at reviewing the movie file and not during the lesson. Cause I think is a bit of overload.

If everything was so perfect then all the un-documented modifications on Mig21 FM since launch were what? The dev climbed in the cockpit with different mood in that day? Or maybe the truth is that DCS Mig21 is a lot of work and maybe some of it is still to be done? Here are some wise words (bolded by me):

I want to create a separate thread for this mission maybe others have different feedback on it. After trying the mission several times I managed to reach the airfield and land but only after getting terrible lost over the sea. After thinking about it I found some solutions for the minuses of the mission. First. It needs another mission for a normal visual landing with all the information explained. Where you should start your approach. What distance. What altitude. In the ILS landing mission you only say "keep this altitude". Not even... Hey look you are at 6800feet this should be your starting approach altitude and start descending when you are at x distance from beacon. What sink rate. Yes the Mirage is very smart and can make those for you if you just "activate chevrons" (kidding) but as a pilot you need to know these values anyway and they are not included in the current manual. Speed. When to reduce from 280 to 230 and what should be the touch down speed at current weight? Landing the Mirage currently is such a guess work. 230 is the speed when the gear lever is flashing. 120 is the rotate speed in the manual at take off so maybe 140 should be minimum for landing and when heavy the airplane hits hard even at 190. A lot of trial and error that shouldn't be necessary. Also in the milk is very hard to follow instructions when they are many and superimposed with the tower. Also instructions are not clear. The dash line is not pointing... it's tilted but has no pointing end or it's not described. The square doesn't stay on top it moves over the dash line. Also the square sometimes is misleading because it seems it tries to suggest hard turns instead of small adjustments and acts differently (has no triangles). All in all the mission is OK but because it's the first and only landing you get to train it's looking more like a dare than a lesson.

The program is still Open Source AFAIK so you can download the code... check it then compile it for yourself. P.S. I used avast on many PC years ago but now is just garbage... for me (always trying to sell something more, false positives until you lose faith).

I tried your edit and it works but if I chose ground commander first the F10 radio becomes invisible the F10 men is not active and after I join Su25 it remains inactive. If I join Su25 from start it s active and correct. Also. The bug is present only in Single Player. In multiplayer I encounter a bigger problem with the radio being completely inactive via keyboard (only if the unit has a clickable ptt radio button you can make it show) and the external views messed up and not working (I think this is a new bug introduced with latest update and reported but it becomes a mess when mixed with the one in this thread. For example radio is available only on the ground and once you took off radio does not work as the external views are not working. So to activate some units via F10 menu after take off is impossible.

Bug with ME frequencies
zaelu replied to wolf5's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
How is that briefing generated? It shows only one of Maykop frequencies. 254MHz is a valid one but not the only one. And is 125 not 127. -
I have been trying to create missions where I can activate different groups via F10 radio menu and I encounter a small problem with it. The problem can be described the shortest like this: When first time spawning and picking one slot the radio menus are switched between coalitions. Meaning if I spawn as RED first time I get the menus for Blue. If I respawn as RED the menus are back to normal. Even if I pick the first unit again it will have correct menus. I attach a test simple mission where the bug appears only for red. It used to appear for blue also until I changed the date of the mission. I am not sure if this is a simple coincidence or a correlation/causation. To test it. Simply spawn in a Su25 (there are 2 available) and try to use radio F10 to activate an enemy Blue APC. You will see you only have the option to activate the RED one. Then, respawn in the second Su25 and you will see now you have the correct option to activate the Blue APC. Spawn back to first Su25 and you will see again you are back to normal. Radio menus test.miz

Training Missions bug tracker / improvements
zaelu replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Training Missions
I would say the contrary. The perception from within the cockpit while having the seat raised is very confusing for some players. Also because the cockpit shape is not a standard one. Best way would be to have these informations also: Distance from where you should start your approach. Altitude Sink rate(s) depending on weight. Approach speeds and touch down speeds Yes they are "calculated" automatically and all you need is to align those chevrons and brackets and signs but the 2D perspective most o us use can add errors into this especially on final moments. Especially because these are not covered at all in the manual. Another suggestion I have about the INS tutorials. If you are planning to retouch them maybe it would be a better way to call the INS button on the PCN "INSERT" instead of "I.N.S.". Because... again is very very confusing even if I know what you mean. You are talking about the I.N.S. (aI eN eS :P ) system and saying casually pres "I.N.S." is strange. What I.N.S. to press? The whole PCN panel? Is it loose? :D The key is better called INSERT which is a direct equivalent of ENTER. Is like the Key on A-10C that is shorted ENT. I am sure our English speaking friends would have no problem to understand that Insert means "to insert/enter those numbers into the system" but saying "aIeNeS" it just confusing. And since we are at it. Finally I got it... "BUT" is not an acronym but the french word for "goal" (ha ha... I am a French Language apprentice... an older and slower one) but ( :P ) maybe the meaning of BAD would be nice to be explained too. You know BAD BUT would mean "Bad Waypoint" for some "minds" :) . Oh and when you translate But in the training mission maybe you should say: BUT means waypoint in this situation. Or is equivalent of waypoint in this situation. -
Get well Zeus! :cold: Codeine is an opiate so those effects are expected.

Training Mission 10 (INS Offset bombing) cannot update INS
zaelu replied to Home Fries's topic in Training Missions
Thanks for explanation of the stick. Regarding the two buttons... do they normally serve different purposes? Iirc at least the OBL is made with either AG Designate/INS Update or Nav Update. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
zaelu replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Let's not exaggerate the biggest MMORPG didn't had one for most of its history. I hope ED doesn't wait that much though to move in this direction. The ability not only to use VOIP build in the game but to use one so greatly matched with the content of the game like Ciribob's Simple Radio is an unique experience. -
Training Mission 10 (INS Offset bombing) cannot update INS
zaelu replied to Home Fries's topic in Training Missions
I think the cross does not update. Not sure is this how it is suppose to happen but it was reported several times before and nothing was said about it. Because that mission has airstart and is very short time since you start till you bomb you can skip updating and simply pass over IP and proceed to target (BAD) What means "stick length"? Also "Nav Update" has same function as "AG Designate/INS Position Update "? -
Training Missions bug tracker / improvements
zaelu replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Training Missions
I will try it a few times more no problem. I just wanted to say that I found it difficult and I do have a few landings with Mirage (I would say many attempts but not so many good landings as the whole thing is really confusing for me :D... but I can land the Mig21 no problem and I landed it without issues from the beginning if this could be a sign of how much can I land a plane in DCS.)
