Admittedly, current AI system doesn't allow for "start from ground" placement, either on the carrier or on the ground (except for VTOL capable aircraft). So indeed, it's impossible to have AI start anywhere you want, but... The actual "parking" spots are there, they are just not selectable from the ME. Yes, it's easy to block AI pathing, but this is just part of mission editing. (I actually use this in almost all my land based missions. Blocking taxiing aircraft allows for some interesting taxi/takeoff sequences). The mission creator should manage/avoid this. In my opinion, the lack of being able to select parking spots on the SC is a huge miss, especially considering ED is trying to create the most realistic carrier experience ever made. (to be honest, I find it quite absurd that we are forced to fill the deck with objects, just to start somewhere else than on the six pack) If the AI pathing really is the show stopper here, what is holding ED back to at least allow players/clients to start from wherever they want? Anyways.. I'm sure ED knows what they're doing and where to spend their resources on. I simply hope they didn't neglect this because they think we don't care about it. (personally, I find starting from the six pack in pretty much all missions, a bit "boring")

The way ED created the SC module, this is impossible unfortunately. I know, because I asked the exact same question the week the SC was released and ED answered me that this will not be possible. Btw; you might want to consider changing the title of your thread to match a bit better with your actual wish

So, it is correct/realistic that irl in the F-15E, Betty calls out "low altitude" if the pilot fails to disable "LOW ALT"? Or is this not properly implemented yet, as in EA work in progress? Just double checking, as I'd expect the aircraft to detect the landing configuration and automatically disable the LOW ALT warning.

Are you talking about the F10 map, or are you talking about the F10 radio menu? And is it happening in all missions, on all maps and in all modules? (You're in the F-15E bug section. Are you only having these issues when flying the F-15E?)

I think you can just say: you should read what ED means by "early access", its not bad marketing, its just that most people don’t understand what they read.

Kola map is not made by Razbam. Look at Sinai map for instance, it runs smooth as a babies bottom. Even when flying over the mega huge city of Cairo on my old and crappy pc in VR. Just saying, there's no reason for loosing all "trust" my friend
-
@BIGNEWY and/or @NineLine; are you aware of the SA map performance issues? Do you perhaps know if Razbam is aware? If not, is there perhaps any chance you can maybe help bringing all these reports under Razbam's attention? Oh, and maybe you could also move this thread to the SA bugs section where it belongs.
-
Wow, you're a li... eh.. well.. time saver! Still, RAZBAM: it would be nice if you could fix this bug (for what all this is worth, because I'm under the impression they never visit this forum)

Due to an awful lack of DCS playtime lately , I haven't really taken the time yet to figure out where to download and how to install VAICOM since it went open source.

Taxi and takeoff training mission never ends
sirrah replied to MAXsenna's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same here I kinda just assumed this was the end of the training (it's not like taxiing around requires much training anyways ) -
Sorry if reported before (couldn't find a bug report yet). If this is only a problem on my side, please let me know. I notice that my radios ain't working properly when playing MP (on the 4YA servers). For instance, when contacting ATC: MIC switch on Correct freq Volume max Use correct (PRI/AUX) transmit switch and request taxi I don't hear my own "voice", I don't hear ATC reply and no text is shown on the left upper corner of my screen, yet the radio menu does advance (request take-off becomes available) This happens both for hot start and cold start slots. No issues whatsoever when playing SP

Battle of Britain Air Show - Duxford 2018

Those are beautiful! That B-17 front view Wallpaper material for sure! -
I noticed quite a performance drop as soon as I get close to urban areas, since the last update. Performance was never great for me on this map when flying over cities, but yesterday, when I was inbound on Rio Grande, my framerate crippled as soon as the city got in my field of view. As soon as the city wasn't in my fov everything was smooth again. I feel you looking at my system specs in my signature and thinking: this guys pc is just way too outdated for DCS in VR . But here's the strange thing: I can fly over Cairo (Sinai map) and performance is just fine. Anyone else experiencing this since the latest update? Btw: Luckily, flying over non-urban areas is still pretty smooth. It is so soothing, just flying around over this beautiful scenery

This link got me Google-streetviewing... Man this region is eye-wateringly beautiful To bad I live pretty much on the other side of the globe.. Would've loved to pay a visit/explore
-
Really? That's peculiar. I did several takeoffs yesterday and they all were way more smooth than before the update. Kinda assumed it was me getting better at it . Never considered that the update might have changed something.

Ok thanks for confirming

Oh I know, it's definitely manageable (rudder curves not even needed imo), but it just seems a bit odd that nws can't be disabled. In the Hornet and Viper it's also very well possible to take off with nws enabled, but procedures say to disable it above certain speeds. I find it strange that this apparently isn't a thing in the Mudhen.
-
I was wondering about this as well Didn't know yet about the "paddle switch hold" function, but if I understand @GGTharos correctly, this is not something which is actively used by the pilot during operations? So, does anyone know how (irl) pilots handle the sensitive nws during take off and landing? (just like the OP, I kinda expected there to be an "nws off" function, like we have in the Hornet and Viper)

Fwiw; I just flew on one of the 4YA servers and my radio's weren't working properly either (and yes, I do know how to operate them ). Or at least it seems to be very dodgy.. For instance, I didn't receive any ATC calls, yet the ATC menu proceeded (startup-> taxi-> TO). 5 minutes later, while in flight, I hear someone else requesting taxi . Later on, when I went RTB, I called "inbound", yet again, no response.. Yep; correct freq, MIC switch ON, correct transmit button, volume maxed out. Also AWACS: nothing.. (quite peaceful though for a change, without all the BRA callouts ) Something's definitely off. Or at least it is on the 4YA servers, as I also had this issue last weekend on another 4YA server. Never had this on any other missions. (today was on the PG 4YA server, last weekend on the South Atlantic 4YA server)

I pretty much started my flightsimming addiction somewhere early 90's iirc with "Hellcats over the Pacific" on my dad's Macintosh. Then came "Hornet 2.0" and the addiction was a fact. Asked me back then and I would have said that was the golden age for flightsim. Then came Falcon 4.0 and all the Janes stuff leading the way towards eventually LOMAC . Asked me then and I would have said that was the golden age. Of course, with DCS, I'm now confident this is the golden age for flightsimming. Please ask me again in 10 years

At 5:30 and around 6:00

This would actually be very easy to add, by using the "load mission" trigger action in combination with radio F10 menu.

Nice take off It's been just over 20 years since I last visited the RIAT. Good to see that, after all these turbulent years, at least the weather in Britain hasn't changed! I visited a couple of times around the millennium. We always did the 3 arrival days and usually did some spotting at Brize, Mildenhall (legendary Willows campsite ) and Lakenheath afterwards)
