I guess most of us simmers have faced your dilemma and the choices very much depend on budget and personal preferences. You should be able, with some experimentation, to get TrackIR working well. Be sure the camera is not receiving extraneous IR signals, from a window for example. A good VR headset, like Reverb G2, along with a high-spec PC provides a great leap in immersion, albeit with somewhat compromised visual quality and frame-rates. You might consider postponing a decision for a few months until the new VR headsets get reviewed.

I will be watching this keenly. Upgraded Dec 2020 from Reverb G1 to G2 and was under-whelmed by the modest VR headset improvements that cost 640 USD. G2 quit working in Feb. and HP gave me a full refund. So, I plan to use the G1 until a VR headset with more impactful improvements is available.

DCS reads the .miz file once, an only once, at mission load time.

Not sure what you are now trying to achieve. One way to reset everything is to perform a HOTASCleanse, using the executable file in your main Cougar install folder, then reinstall the Cougar firmware.

Did you open the Analyzer.exe, then do the manual calibration procedure prior to setting calibration mode to Manual?

Use this executable parameter. "D:\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR This file should be in your main DCS folder. d:\DCS World\DCS_updater repair.bat

You need to edit the Viggen's d:\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick\default.lua to add the auto start key combo from the d:\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\keyboard\default.lua A bit complicated, but a guide exits in this forum.
