  1. In another F-16 sim the pilot sets HOB on the stores DDI, a procedure devised to overcome the lack of a method to set CBU HOB prior to entering the cockpit. If ED ever provides a data cartridge system for its modern jets I hope it will include a feature to set the bomb HOB.
  2. SRS is a standalone program that functions to provide person to person communications while in the DCS cockpit. Discord is a different standalone program that has literally hundreds of individual "channels," or sites, each dedicated to a common interest where people can join with others for discussion by text or by voice. SRS has it own Discord channel for support quite separate from its communication program. Many of the MP servers also have discord channels where sim pilots typically discuss and plan missions before switching to SRS for in-game communication. Since Discord has voice capability, some pilots simply stay on Discord for in-game communications, but using SRS is more common. I am also in the retired senior category and a recent multi-player participant. I found a good place to start is one of the Hoggit servers. Hoggit web site for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/ It is pretty stable, has less rigid protocols than some others and has interesting missions. You can fly solo or join others for a sortie. Be aware that since publication of DCS 2.5.6 MP stability has noticeably degraded but ED is apparently working to restore play-ability. I fly in VR which seems to be most affected by the current issues. As mentioned above the only way to gain an MP comfort level is to dive in and do it. Expect to have a few disappointing experiences before getting the hang of it.
  3. Is there a playability reason that in v129 the RT Blue SEAD and RT Blue CAS aircraft have no loadouts?
  4. Many have reported greatly improved DCS OB 2.5.6 performance by disabling Tacview. YMMV.
  5. I could be mistaken, but seems to me that UFC coordinate input format for Waypoints has changed from DD MM SS to DD MM.MM. Perhaps target inputs have also changed.
  6. I am on WMR and SteamVR 1.10.32.
  7. You are correct, of course, but I had no luck identifying a solution through google, so thought someone here might have something to offer. The other suggestion to revert back to 2.5.5 would certainly improve stability and FPS, at the expense of eliminating most all multiplayer servers, since most all have patched to 2.5.6.
  8. I am experiencing SteamVR crashes in about half of my missions. Happens in both SP and MP very early in mission or while joining. HP Reverb. DCS OB 2.5.6.49515, but experienced same behavior in previous patch. DCS Log records ACCESS VIOLATION, yada yada. Anyone have any solutions to try? I may reread War and Peace until DCS get their sh_t together.
  9. MAV F does not home on the laser.
  10. I have found that error code can be safely ignored, so long as you can go ahead and create a file in LDT.
  11. I believe the main issue is that players are using the TGP to acquire targets for the AGM-65F, a function that has not been declared operational by ED. Yes, the function almost works in that the MAV seeker does automatically slew to the VICINITY of the TGP designation, but the MAV and TGP LOS's do not exactly coincide in the current version of the OB. To use that function now, with TGP LOS slaved to a WP, requires the following awkward procedure: SOI to TGP DDI HSI: select WP then WPDSG to slave TGP LOS TGP acquire and designate target. MAV slews to target vicinity. SOI to MAV DDI. Undesignate (undesignates BOTH MAV and TGP). Slew MAV seeker and acquire valid target. Release weapon when in parameters. SOI back to TGP DDI Rinse and repeat. Two current features make this awkward. The MAV seeker and TGP LOS do not coincide close enough to allow the MAV to acquire the intended target. Undesignate applies to both the weapon and the TGP.
  12. In Advanced Waypoint actions selecting Fire at Point creates a target zone with a small triangle representing the firing target location. Mouse-click on the triangle to move it to the desired target location.
  13. So I guess the purpose of switching the weapon to PP mode is to prevent the TPOD from over-writing the coordinates in the case of a second, inadvertent, designation??
  14. Another typical crash log. These crashes occur in SP simple dogfight training mission Caucasus with only 3 DCS groups: Player, Bandit MiG, and AWACS. This mission crash occurs about 50% of mission attempts. Aggressive dogfighting against AI taking place. Video freeze with purple DCS Wait box. Only escape is end task with TM. SteamVR continues without error. This log indicates ACCESS VIOLATION. Hope this helps. Habu Log 2.rar
  15. PTRK is useful for laser-guided weapons. With the target being followed by the TGP in PTRK, the laser remains focused on the target and the laser-guided weapon can guide to the moving target by virtue of the reflected laser energy. GPS-guided weapons guide to stored GPS coordinates.
  16. Well, PTRK does indeed lock the TGP to a moving target; however, once released, a GPS guided weapon can no longer communicate with the TGP. Post-release the weapon therefore can only guide to the coordinates downloaded to it at the most recent TGP designation and has no way of knowing, by virtue of a laser for example, where the TGP is pointing.
  17. OB 2.5.6.45317; Win 10 v1907, I5 8600; 32 GB DDR4; RTX 2080 Super, Nvidia 441.87; F/A-18C Hornet on Hoggit GAW MP server. Log attached, but no .trk due to game crash. Yes, I had mods enabled: SRS, Voice Attack, VR Kneeboard; Reverb VR with SteamVR. Tacview DISABLED. Video froze during engine start procedure on Stennis about 5 min. into mission at 12:55:58 on log. Similar crash behavior in about half the missions I attempt to fly online. Logs.rar
  18. Everything you need to know is in this forum, especially Helios program and exporting to other monitors. https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=101
  19. IMO the few extra $$ to purchase directly from ED is worth avoiding the extra hassles of steam purchases.
  20. I think you can still use OvGME, but you must create 2 configs: 1 that targets the main DCS root folder and another that targets Saved Games.
  21. Assuming you can get precise coordinates for PP targets, the little aux program WP Editor allows pre-loading the coordinates into a GUI outside DCS, then loading them into the jet's MC with the press of a single key combo.
  22. Sorry, I do not have recording program. Made a .trk, but due to faulty track feature, replay does not show my UFC inputs, stores page changes or weapon impacts. In fact track replay shows JSOWs flying all over the place, but that is a topic for another discussion.
  23. WMR and SteamVR updates seem to have resolved this problem.
  24. Hornet was designed to crash-land on carriers. Just keep 3 degree glide slope and center the E bracket until touchdown. The key to doing this is constant minor throttle and trim adjustments and that takes practice. Do make long final approaches for initial training.
  25. SteamVR is crashing about 2 of every 3 attempts to start DCS (HP Reverb) just since Friday OB update. Could be unrelated OC. Crash occurs after getting mission brief and start screen. I get black screen with the 4 juggling white balls. Only solution is Task Manager forcible end task. I tried Googled fix of disconnecting VR headset USB, Reboot PC, replug USB. I guess this forces driver reinstall. No joy. Anyone else seeing this?
