Need a bit of help getting started - new user questions
BigfootMSR replied to 1Wolf's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yes, you are correct. The original BS will not work in world as it is so you will need to purchase the upgrade module for BS2. The BS2 module works just fine in World. You just have to install the original BS no matter what the version number is BEFORE you attempt to install the BS2 upgrade module into world. I will put the steps below. I do not believe there is anything special with the dvd versions of the games such as reference cards and what not. A printed manual does not come with them. The dvd versions are not recognized by world only the modules will be. You can however use the serial numbers from the dvd versions to install the modules with. FC2 can not integrate into World. They have just announced within the last few weeks FC3 will be released soon and will integrate into World as a module. It requires LockOn: Flamming cliffs or a previous version of FC in order to install it due a contractual obligation they have with Ubisoft. Combined arms lets you take control of most of the ground vehicles in the game and adds another level of realism in a multiplayer environment. It does not add much to the single player environment in its current state. It does not add anything extra to the game such as features and what not. All of that is handled by the main program, World. Installation instructions: 1. Install DCS world 1.2.1 http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=21&end_pos=137&lang=en 2. Install Blackshark (the original) and activate it 3. download and install any and all modules that you wish to have in world. Order of installation does not matter. downloadable from here. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en I hope this thorough explanation helps you out. If you need anything else, just shout. Since you have been out of the game for a while, check out my signature for some in cockpit interactive training missions for BS2. -
You will need to do a complete install of 1.2.1 1. Install world 1.2.1 2. Install DCS black shark (BS1 the original) and be sure its activated. 3. Install any other modules you need to. The order of the modules does not matter.

DCS World - install modules question
BigfootMSR replied to gigabyte's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
World installs separately from any standalone versions you may have installed on your computer. If you need some BS training, check out my sig for some interactive tutorials. -
You can not install the original BS1 into world. You can only install BS2 into world. You can purchase the BS2 upgrade which requires you to have bs1 installed, or you can buy the full BS2 version which does not require the original. You can purhcase BS2 here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop&lang=en and then download the module from here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en It shouldnt matter what version of BS1 he has installed. The upgrade only checks to see if it is installed and activated.

Actually, my previous answer is not true either :( If he only has bs 1, then he will need to download bs1. 1.1.1.1 is BS2 only. It was really late and I was tired haha.

any way to remove radio F menu from track?
BigfootMSR replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The way I understand a track works by basically simulating the previous run again in the sim. In a track, you can also take over control of the aircraft and fly as if it were you own. So, a mod that would move the radio menu off of the primary screen may work. Its a reasonable theory to try. Beyond that, I really have no idea how to do it, so I apologize I cant be over any more help. -
That's how its calibrated :P
-
Lol, if your going there speed, you have to list all the other 3rd party modules too :P
-
Not entirely true. If he has already purchased BS2, then no, he wont need to buy it again. However, if he only has the original, he can install via standalone version 1.1.1.1 located here. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=135&scr=products&lang=en Otherwise, if you want to run world and get all the latest and greatest updates and what not, then you will need to purchase BS2 either full or upgrade and then install the module into World.

KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
BigfootMSR replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I have posted an updated version of the weapon employment training that features much cleaner and clearer voice overs than the previous mission. Please note that due to the 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 updates, the prevent controls synchronization does not work. You will need to have your throttles about 50-60% forward at mission start so you do not enter the vortex ring state and fall out of the sky like a brick. If you notice that you are falling fast, push forward on the cyclic and move the collective up until you can re enter a stable flight and then enter the auto hover mode. -
Mission Planners in Multiplayers! WTF!
BigfootMSR replied to Bee_Sting's topic in User Created Missions General
I don't disagree with any of your points, i'm just saying that it all takes time and is easy to overlook a few details. The Mission Editor is still developing and so are the missions. They are becoming much more complex now. One thing to keep in mind is if you are joining an open server that a squadron hosts, they may be familiar with the briefing stuff that was left out because it was discussed in another forum, vent, Team speak ect. With the briefing left out, its also possible for the flight leads to do formations, training, or whatever. Just some examples of "what if's" though. -
Stop Removing Unarmed Building-Units
BigfootMSR replied to Wrecking Crew's topic in Mission Editor Issues
Sadly, it looks to me that most of the "improvements" and fixes they made in the 1.2.1 patch got rolled back. At least for the graphics and effects. Just my 2 cents however. -
I have been around the forums a lot and unfortunately, there has been no announcement other than the Nevada map that I have come across.. However, I did hear that with the introduction of World and the possibilities of 3rd party developments, its possible a third party could be working on a new terrain that has not been announced. That is pure speculation however and only time will tell. The reason we do not already have the nevada terrain is because the company that was originally making it when out of business and ED/TFC took over. But they scrapped it and started over again using edge. Obviously this is a point of tension for some folks because they pre-ordered the map with their A-10 versions. All I can really say is hold onto your flight suit because its coming, and its going to be great.

I was trying to think of a way to get the game to recognize when one of the safety covers is lifted off of a switch so that you can manipulate the switch underneath. I came across a mercury filled switch that might do the trick http://www.frys.com/product/1908343?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG. I was curious if anybody had a picture or some other suggestions to think about to accomplish this. I have some more switches in the mail so I should be all done with my box soon. Its working out great so far.

LMAO, I thought for a minute you were making a joke about using pen and paper to try connecting.

A-10C and P-51 version before Patch 1.2.1?
BigfootMSR replied to JAG's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
hmmm, I'm not sure where to find 1.2.0 unfortunately. Have you tried looking around the forums and see if there are any tweaks you could do? Can you screen shot your in game settings? You might be able to turn down some of the settings and get a better fps. You might also check out this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95449 It has a couple of quick little tips. You did mention you were exporting some displays. -
A-10C and P-51 version before Patch 1.2.1?
BigfootMSR replied to JAG's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
They were versions 1.2.0 (same as world) Have you tried using the auto-updater to update your game since you installed it? They have released several patches to fix a lot of the framerate issues. You can run the auto-updater by going to the "Eagle Dynamics > DCS world > Update DCS World" link in your start menu. Try that and then see if you are still experiencing a lot of problems with 1.2.1. If the autoupdater is not running, try deleting the DCS world folder in your saved games folder. The current version of World is 1.2.1.6288. You can find the version number in the bottom right of the main menu screen. -
I have tested both the BS and A-10 in 1.2.1 and 1.2.0. The trigger logic for the "Prevent controls synchronization (on/off)" is broken. This trigger is especially useful for my training missions that start in the air. Prior to these versions when you used the trigger to prevent the controls synchronization, the aircraft would start in the air at a specified speed and maintain that speed until the pilot would move the controls and take over. For example, in my weapon training mission, the BS starts in the air during the introduction and then instructs the pilot on how to enter the auto-hover state. As soon as the pilot presses a control on the hotas or the keyboard it would turn off. With the new versions it does not matter if the prevent controls trigger logic is on or off or even in the list of triggers because it simply does not do anything. As soon as the trainee enters the game, if their hotas was in the off position or idle state, they will practically enter a vortex ring state right after pressing play. I also tried the trigger with the option in the settings disabled or active. It made no difference. Has this trigger logic changed or does it affect something different now? You can test this in 1.1.1.1 by creating a mission and set a player controlled a-10 or BS in the game. Under triggers, set a mission start > no condition > prevent controls sync "on" trigger. Fly the mission.

Mission Planners in Multiplayers! WTF!
BigfootMSR replied to Bee_Sting's topic in User Created Missions General
I have to agree with Dragon. For some of my training missions, I have logged over 40+ hours in just the creation, research, planning, and recording for the mission. That does not include the cumulative time it takes to keep the missions up to date after the patches, or the introduction of new trigger logic. I donated my time to help people understand the game better. That being said however, its very easy to overlook a few details here and there. You should give the mission designers some time. The su25 has not really been out that long not to mention we have to take into account ground commanders, and all the various flight modules. What are the players going to do? How many players is the mission designed for? Will there be a ground commander in this game and not the next? Its very hard to plan for all eventualities of every single flight and group. Not all missions will cater to your specific needs. Pick and choose the ones that work best for you or make your own. If you want to spend the time and create a mission as you have described, I would love to play it. -
Its a completely new install. In fact, if you wanted, you could leave your 1.1.0.7 install alone and DCS world will install right beside it. World wont touch it.
