  1. Actually, picking up a dang fellow PA-28 in the circuit can be hard sometimes, so maybe we shouldn't have too high expectations with a realistic rendering making it easy to spot things. What has been discouraging for a long time however, is the way in previous versions, that aircraft have actually disappeared from view even when they were fairly close and should be visible. Hopefully that is fixed now so that aircraft never disappear until the range goes beyond the dot-drawing limit. Anyone able to confirm?
  2. What? :-)
  3. When I jumped into the A-10C a week ago, before 1.5.5 mind you, and I noticed a lot more sound from the wind...?
  4. LNS have confirmed that they intend to make a small theatre for the Viggen. Some part of Scandinavia would be the best guess (most likely Gotland, and God willing, some part of the coast) However, Cobra has also stated that the theatre will come further away in the future and that the initial Viggen content will be in the Caucasus. BTW, I managed to freeze the video just as the closest missile flew past and it sure is an RB04.
  5. Did the Viggen have an engine flame-out or what? :-D
  6. Likely not. Cobra has stated that the initial mission/training content for the Viggen will be Caucasus-based (IIRC he also directly stated something in line with the dedicated theatre being more far off in the future).
  7. Parking brake set at runway start. Is that normal? Unless setting the parking brake is SOP at lineup before takeoff, maybe it should default to off?
  8. Not if you inverted!

    Gun camera

    What does it do?
  10. Is this expected behaviour?
  11. Not in the Swedish Air Force. Hot (maybe not with engine running, but surely other systems up) refuel/rearm with pilot waiting in cockpit is/was SOP. Check the Viggen thread for info about this.
  12. Same thing goes all across DCS as far as I know. Quite some nuisance.
  13. What I do find weird with ED standard is that RMB is up. Up-down, left-right seems like the normal to-from logic, at least in a Western perspective.

    F-15E?

I think Jane's F-15 and F/A-18E sims, possibly along with Falcon 4, are the historically best representations of AG radar use. Flying around in the desert trying to find point targets really lets the ground mapping radar shine.
  15. Was that radar altitude? I.e. height over ground?
  16. Do I get it correctly, that the ground avoidance is simply like a "Bitching Betty" pull up-message or the the A-10 C GCAS "Break X"?
  17. Just to get the history straight. Last March (or even Feb?), in 2015, it was said that a modern module as well as a WWII one (or similar wording) were to be announced within the next month (or two? - at most). Already back then we had enough clues to think it was the Viggen. That's how long we've been waiting for the official announcement.
  18. Still, it truly is pretty strange that we haven't seen the formal announcement yet. After all, at New Year's, it was supposed to be a few weeks away...
  19. I just zapped through, but recall they had flown (qualified for?) fixed wing aircraft. For a fixed wing, around ten flight hours before solo is normal, so given that they already kind of are pilots, maybe it's not too far fetched.
  20. Isn't the corner speed for at least the F-16 usually more around 350-400 KIAS at "normal fighting altitudes"?
  21. It doesn't, naturally, but it's usually hard to take off from somewhere without landing there first. ;-)
  22. This has already been debated. At least where Cobra is from, the week ends on Sunday and begins on Monday. :-)
  23. In reference to the previous poster: While most of the talk lately has been regarding the Tomcat updates, some kind of comment regarding the Viggen progress and what is causing the hold-up of the official announcement would be greatly appreciated. After all, around New Year's, that announcement was said to be only a few weeks away. Currently it would be fair to say that there have been more than a few months since then.
  24. I recall having seen a map on which the two (huge) ranges connect. But I agree it's probably Lomben as I have a very similar photo from my service, only the explosion is caused by 800 kg of TNT dug into a purpose built road bank (combat engineering exercise).
  25. Looks like the Kalixfors/Lomben firing range.
