Yes. Im setting the ASW in the tray tool, per application.

Max out your resolution in the occulus settings. Set your frequenzy @ 90 HZ and ASW @ 30 FPS See if you are happy with that. I'm running a RTX 2080 at the moment with MSAA x 2, PD 1.0.

Any results from the testing of 3080 versus the 6900XT? I'm looking for a new card myself, and the only option right now is AMD. Have seen different results on AMD vs Nvidia. One better for AMD and one worse. But only 2 tests so far. So very small sample.

I have tested both. But not on the same system. G2 on a 2080Ti powered rig, Quest 2 on a 2080 rig. Although the clarity on G2 was better in the sweetspot, the size of the sweetspot was terrible. Your eyes had to be dead centered, and constantly using your head to change focuspoint. Over time it was tiresome on the eyes. Almost felt I was crosseyed when using the set sometimes. After testing the G2 I gambled on the Quest 2, due to recent positive feedback on the softwareupdates, and improved visual quality in the headset. Although it's not quite up there with the G2 in clarity in sweetspot (but not far behind), it felt less stressing on my eyes. I think mainly due to a much better (larger) sweetspot then the G2. But as stated above, the standard strap is terrible!

Good FPS but high CPU frametime - what to check?
TZeer replied to fargo007's topic in Virtual Reality
Check if you "junk" software running. Like software for RGB lights etc. Also check and see if you have an antivirus running. Pull up your taskmanager and see what is running on your computer. -
System spec atm is 5800X, 32GB Ram, SSD M.2 drives, RTX 2080. I just built a new system a few months ago, but held off on the GPU due to stupid prices.

Appreciate the feedback from all of you. Just found out I had some giftcards laying around that would basically cut the cost of getting a Quest 2 by 50%... ( Reverb G2 not available ). Would that be a good "bang for my buck"?? Considering anything new is not expected until next year. And 2000 Euro (Looking at you Aero) for a set is basically out of the question until I actually has a GPU that can justify that kinda headset. And shelling out for a G2 is a little bit on the more expensive side considering the possibility for new sets coming out next year. Cheers

I did look at quite a few first impressions on the Varjo. From what I can understand it is the new benchmark when it comes to VR for consumers. Basically better then G2 clarity, with no sweetspot. Big downside was a 1900 euro+tax. And that was without a base station....

So after having the ability to test VR a while ago I got the urge for VR at home. Specially for the AH-64D coming. We have a VR setup at work (Gameroom at work to use in our free time, oilrig). It consists of 2080Ti and a Reverb G2. And I have done some tuning using speed-of-heat's settings. Have not done any mods as of yet, but all DCS settings and Steam VR settings are done. Running around 45FPS steady just cruising around in Caucasus map in the SU-25. One thing that bugs me with the Reverb G2 is the sweetspot. I feel there is almost nothing to go on in the vertical plane when it comes to sweetspot. Yes I can read the instruments, but I feel they get kinda "blurry" very quickly when you move your eyes up/down. I also have a feeling when focusing in the sweetspot that I'm "working" with my eyes to focus. Specially on longer distances. Something that can be adjusted/improved? I have not bought anything myself yet, but I have heard and watched many youtube clips now about how much better the Quest 2 got with it's increased sharpness with V33. Although it is not quite up there with the G2 in sharpness, the gap is smaller, and it supposedly have a larger sweetspot and larger FOV. Should I maybe wait and see if there is anything else coming to the market soon? Any advice? Does other cockpits have better visual/sharper textures than the SU-25 in VR? I currently own A-10C II, F/A-18C, Huey, FC and AH-64D (when it comes). Thank you

Was playing around in the missioneditor with some AH-64D's. And got a bit dissapointed in how the AI was handling itself versus some basic tanks, M-55. Out of 8 hellfires, it was only able to hit 3 tanks. 5 misses. When it was engaging it started climbing to 1500-2000 feet before it launched it's first missile. It started to "divebomb" in on the tanks with rockets when all hellfires where used, basically taking the bullets right in the face. Overflying the targets, and in the end getting shot down. Any plans on updating the logic in how the choppers behave when controlled by AI?

Have radar guided hellfires ever actually been fired in anger?
TZeer replied to CrazyGman's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Remember the good old Longbow 2 days. Single sweep from behind a hill or something. Descend behind cover again, make PFZ's. And handing them over to the other flight. Then lobbing a barrage of LOAL Hellfires on all anti air units and giving the go for the rest of the flight to engage. -
I bought within an hour after the video was up Reminds me of the good old days with Longbow 2. Had hundreds of hours on that sim when I was a teenager.

I agree what you are saying. What I meant was maybe calling it something else then "early access" or whatever. Something to really drive it home to those who buy early access that it is not a finished product. Cause sometimes it feels that people do not know what early access is. And when they then fly early access products on top of doing it in DCS World Beta, and then complaining about missing features and bugs... What do they expect?
-
Instead of calling it early access, they could call it beta access ??
-
But you have to remember, that feedback on the longbow from Iraqi Freedom is close to 18 years old... That's almost 20 years of improvements and development. Even a 2005-2006 version would have 2-3 years of development and improvements based on feedback from such an operation.
-
I'm hoping it's due to early access that the radar is not included. And that it follows same procedure as with the fighters, where the radar is implemented at a later time in the development cycle of the module.
-
I tested VR for the first time a few days ago. It was insane! In other words, VR headset will be purchased for the full AH-64D experience
-
This is THE module I have been waiting for! My first ever sim experience was with the Longbow 2. This will be a certain day 1 purchase from me.

Thank you all for the great replies, regarding both VR and big screen :)
-
What's your framerate with that setup?
-
Have they solved to HUD? Remember a while back there was discussion about the readability of the HUD when in VR. Doesn't matter how awesome it feels, if the HUD is hard to read. And if the solution is a higher res VR display, then it's back to mediocre performance at best. I'm hoping I'm wrong about this, or it is old issues.
-
Problem with VR as far as I have read and understood is the pure power that is needed from both the CPU and GPU. As it is right now it seems to be problems getting good enough frames. Adding an even higher resolution VR wont help in that department.

Upgraded our aging 50" plasma in our livingroom to newer and bigger tv (LCD). At the time I was curious about using the old plasma as a screen for DCS, but hold of due to remembering someone saying tv's in general was not very good for gaming. But after thinking about for a while: DCS is not a fast paced 1st person shooter, I don`t need 1ms response etc. So I hooked it up.... It is an old plasma, but the feeling of 50" right in the face coupled with Track ir and HOTAS setup was sweeeeet! Of course the image is not as sharp and crisp as the monitor I have. But from thinking of upgrading to a 21:9 setup, I'm seriously thinking about how a newer 4K LCD tv would look like for DCS. 50-55" LCD 4K resolution, coupled with a 1080ti or one of the RTX cards would make a really nice immersive setup. Anyone running something like that?
