Having just completed this campaign today, I can definitely recommend it. Well done Kaba and thanks, it was great fun.

I had already scheduled next week off, so it was a happy coincidence. Big problem is the 15th is also the wife's Birthday. Don't think she will miss me for a few hours do you?:;)
-
I would say more so as it's giving me something to look forward to. What point are trying to make, that I shouldn't be playing DCS because of Coronavirus? Get over yourself.

There's no pleasing some people. I mean we got an updated flight manual (CN) after all! Well worth the wait in my opinion (insert smily face here).

Should I have SteamVR installed even if I don't play DCS via Steam?
parxuk replied to parxuk's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks so much for the replies. Message received and understood. I will not install SteamVR! Thanks again. -
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have heard of various tweaks which can be done to improve VR performance via the SteamVR control panel. I have purchased DCS and modules direct from ED not via Steam, so have never thought about using SteamVR, however should I install it and would I benefit from using it, despite my DCS install having nothing to do with Steam? For info I use a Rift S. Thanks for your suggestions

At the end of some missions when I press quit, the screen displays Loading.... and hangs. I have to go in to task manager and quit the program to get DCS to close. Any ideas why this is happening? Its not all missions/campaigns, and may be ones I have installed from the user files section on the ED website. Anybody else get this? Its quite annoying.

F/A-18C Dynamic Campaign: Battle Group Delta
parxuk replied to MBot's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I had the same issue with CCIP. I thought it was just me not knowing what I was doing. -
I find it really frustrating not being able to slew the TGP to a waypoint. I would think this is fairly basic requirement/functionality and if my memory serves me correctly was implemented on the Warthog. Really hope it gets sorted soon.

Yes, I also have similar problems. Not consistently, but very annoying all the same, especially when it happens mid game. It may not be voice attack. I have tried to use the mic outside of voice attack and sometimes it doesn't work until I pull and then replug the rift s usb cable from the pc.

Not my words: Mark Your Father: This is a term used by aircrew and controllers to identifywhere an aircraft is in relation to the carrier using a radial and distance from the ship’s TACAN. It is normally an imperative statement and goes something like this: Controller: “101, mark your Father” (In his best Darth Vader voice) Pilot: “101, marking mom’s 230 for 25” (i.e. Southeast of the ship at 25 nautical miles) The verbiage “marking mom’s XXX” is used to clarify the direction as “from the ship to the aircraft” and avoids having the reciprocal direction being interpreted as the position—albeit incorrectly. (The reciprocal would be “Mom bears 050 for 25” but then it just gets confusing and we try to keep directions to one way)

F/A-18C Dynamic Campaign: Battle Group Delta

From experience: 1. In the case the plane didn't move since start of the mission: coordinates of the first waypoint can be used to set own coordinates after INS align completed a) on HSI page choose wpt 0 using PB12 "up" or PB13 "dn", then press PB14 "WPDSG" b) on HSI page press PB7 "UPDT", press PB7 "DSG", press PB6 "ACPT" -
Doh, That was it, thanks. I thought I was begining to actually get the hang of things, but no. The learning continues!

I am having a frustrating time on what I know should be a simple thing. I am doing something wrong but not sure what, please could somebody assist? I am trying to lock a target. The target is visible on the radar. Master mode is armed, air to air selected, I slew the TDC aquisition cursor over the target and press TDC depress, the vertical scan bars quickly centre over the immediate area where the target is but doesnt lock/designate it. After about 5 seconds the vertical scan bars return to scanning normally. I read somewhere about pressing TDC depress twice over the target, but the 2nd press just causes the TDC cursor to return to the top corner, then I have to slew it back to the target all over again. The antenna elevation caret is (I believe) set correctly. I do not think any other button presses are associated with the TDC depress that I have assigned to my HOTAS. The same thing happes if I press the enter key. This seems to be happening in TWS and RWS. Please can somebody correct my noobishness. Thanks

Report: Upgrade from Rift S -> Reverb, 1070ti to 1080ti
parxuk replied to Lancezh's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for this. It's a timely review because as much as I like the Rift S ( my first VR headset) I do struggle with the blurriness, and no matter what tweaks I make or how I try to position it on my head, I just can't quite seem to get the clarity I want, especially readability of the MFDs in the Hornet. I'm not too sure how to trial a Reverb. Is it possible to get one from Amazon and if I'm not happy just return it? Thanks -
Setting multiple Time on Targets for different waypoints
parxuk replied to parxuk's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Thanks for that. I had assumed that when setting the TOT it would calculate from current position direct to the waypoint the TOT was set against. Good to know that it should take in to account the correct route as dictated by the flight plan/waypoints. Regards -
F/A-18C Dynamic Campaign: Battle Group Delta
parxuk replied to MBot's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Hi MBot, Completed a few missions and am really enjoing it, thanks. Out of interest are there any JTAC missions in the campaign? (i enjoy a bit of CAS). Thx again -
As I continue to learn DCS and the Hornet I am begining to try to play more advanced missions and campaigns and am being tasked with hitting waypoints at specific times. The last mission I did had 10 waypoints, each with a specific time on target. I watched the grim reapers youtube video so knew how to set a TOT, but had hoped to be able to set a TOT for each of the waypoints that had a corresponding TOT for each within the mission briefing, however from my limited experience, it seemed like I could only set 1 TOT, so had to set that for the next waypoint, then as i hit that one then had to go back in to the HSI > data page and then add the next TOT for the next WP. Is that correct, or is there a way to set TOTs for each individual waypoint? Thanks in advance

[NO BUG]Nav on cold start aircraft doesn't work before March 28 1994

Thanks for your help. I have used method 1 to allign using waypoint 0 (leaving INS knob at NAV) and it works great. Hopefully this will do the trick for the remaining missions. Kind regards -

Thanks. Dont know whats going wrong. I start the mission and press windows key and home to commence auto-start (this places the INS knob in the NAV position and I dont move it). Once I get the message auto start is complete I turn on the TACAN. Enter 62X and press enter ensuring transmit and receive is set. Go to HSI and press TCN. It shows IDY at 0.1 distance so I assume i am tuned correctly. on HSI page press PB7 "UPDT", press PB6 "TCN", press PB6 "ACPT" I then choose WP1 select WPT and sequence. WP1 shows as 43.1 miles (approx) I take off. The distance to the waypoint (or any waypoint) doesnt change. I can set HSI back to TCN and can see my distance from IDY changing. Why doesnt the distance to the waypoints change? What am i doing wrong? Thanks -
[NO BUG]Nav on cold start aircraft doesn't work before March 28 1994
parxuk replied to Bankler's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thx again for your help. I tried the 2nd method to align the INS but must have done something wrong. I cheated and used autostart to get the plane going for the mission from the carrier. I followed the instructions and turned on the TACAN and tuned the TACAN for 62X (IDY). I set the HSI to TCN to confirm i was tuned in correctly to IDY whick showed a distance of 0.1. I selected WP1 which from the carrier showed a distance of 48.3, but as i flew towards it the distance didnt change at all. This was the same for all way points. I switched back to TCN and could see the distance between me and the carrier (IDY) was increasing. The autostart leaves INS set to NAV. Should I have changed this to CV or GND? -

So please can you tell me, if commiting the first method to align from wp0, should I set the INS dial to GND when aligning. Once the procedure is complete do I switch it back to NAV, or leave it at GND? Thx -

Hisothiro, how did you get it to work? I tried the 2nd method to align the INS but must have done something wrong. I cheated and used autostart to get the plane going. As suggested by MBot I will try method 1 and hope this works.
