  1. ED the British QF3.7 AA guns require a height/range finder and a predictor like the German KdO 40 so it can be linked into the guns in the same way the German KdO 40 height/range finder works.......please read through thread below, thank you. Whilst I appreciate this is not a bug....these two items are required for realism please.
  2. Agreed......in the mean time I had some time free this afternoon to just confirm if the guns are working correctly, the guns do work,I had 4 x Ju88's flying in at an altitude of 2000 meters/6561.68 feet and in trail formation. However, whilst the British guns do fire at oncoming Axis aircraft without any height/range finder or predictor being linked to them, the consistency of their firing is not great, certainly not as good as the German Flak with the KdO 40 linked to them. The British guns set up is also not very realistic on their own, they most certainly would have a predictor linked to them and would also require a height range finder to ascertain the target altitude. So in short we need a predictor created please ED......and a height finder would be nice too please.(I have now included this as a bug, although it's an absent piece of equipment vital to the British QF3.7 AA guns rather than a bug). Here my group of six QF 3.7 AA guns fire simultaneously at 4 oncoming Ju88's about to fly over the guns at about 2000 metres altitude. @mmarques No a radar will not work it only indicates where the threat is,a height/range finder works out the target aircraft height whilst a predictor is linked into the guns and will get the guns to fire and explode at the correct altitude whilst correcting the appropriate trajectory. Think of using a shot gun with clay pigeons,if you just shoot at the clay pigeon target by the time the shot has reached the target the target will have moved on,so you have to shoot ahead of the target, basically the height/range predictor works this calculation out and gets the guns to fire so the shells hit the target. These two videos explain everything far better than I can.
  3. My apologies,of course they are,yes the KdO 40 works a treat with the German Flak guns......I don't think we have a British height/range finder or a predictor created to date......I know this is not very realistic but you could just make the KdO 40 an allied range finder by switching the country it belongs too ? EDIT: No this does not work, the British guns require their own predictor. In essence what we need created is a Vickers No. 1 Mark III Predictor that was used with the QF 3.7,one of these.
  4. I think after a recent update you now need to place the KdO40 near your flak batteries in order for them to fire......the KdO 40 is a fire director/radar range finder and is also found within the WW2 Assets pack with the Flak guns.
  5. Fantastic outcome......well done btd and everyone else that helped to finally nail this bug
  6. This was great information and I am eternally grateful......however I have not been able to get anymore info on this VF-114 F-14A Tomcat......which is a great pity as this would make a great Gulf War skin.
  7. As at 21st November 2021 this bug still exists,it is very apparent when the view of the aircraft is zoomed out, there seems to be a sweet spot with the view distance......surely this can be corrected......please. There are some very beautiful skins out there that our kind skinners have spent hours creating to embellish the Fw190 D-9's future......only to be spoilt by this daft glitch. Of course we Dora customers are still waiting for the 'official template' that still has'nt materialised seven.....nearly eight years after it was released......this would be a start, but please fix this bug, sooner rather than later,if anything else. So another frustrating DCS issue that could be easily remedied.......we live in hope.
  8. After the latest update to the Open Beta version,a new appendage has been applied to the Mosquito......I have been trying to fathom out what it is.....any ideas anyone ?.......It's not the pitot tube because that's at the top of the tail.
  9. Actually come to think of it so do I......but I'm glad you said it first Greg, lol
  10. Here, here,I totally agree........this is not an arcade game,if the gunsight blocks the VSI too bad, that's the way it is,that's reality, accept it.
  11. Pity the link is broken I'm just getting a 404 Error when trying to download from the first page link......this looks so good too.
  12. It looks great......however the link is broken just a 404 Error when clicked.
  13. Mmm.....As razo+r,no problems here either, all working ok.......it's got to be how you set yourself up on the runway, suggest you line up straight and make a point of pulling forward a little bit just to ensure the tail wheel is straight. I always start from the ramp or parked position using ME because I like to start from cold......and once I have taxi'd and have turned on to the main runway I always get myself straight by just pulling forward a little to ensure the tailwheel and the aircraft are lined up straight before my off.
  14. Thanks very much indeed Chuck I really, really appreciate this, hats off to you buddy for what I'm sure will have taken many, many hours to research and complete
  15. Just throwing something in to the pot here......presumably the safety cover on the Master Arm switch is up ?......this needs to be clicked to raise it so the switch can be moved completely up to the ON position......there are three positions ON...OFF...TNG. If the cover is not up you can still move the switch to the two other positions OFF and TNG.....but not to the third most upper position.....ON,this gives you the impression that you have switched the Master Arm ON and the gun is armed....but you have'nt. Unlike other aircraft Master Switch covers......the cover does not fully cover the switch,it only inhibits the final move to the fully up position allowing the gun to be armed.
  16. Well it all depends what payload/fuel your carrying,if your carrying a full payload with full tanks,I set flaps to 15 degrees, but the maximum take off flap degree input should not exceed 25 degrees......so yes 30 degrees is over excessive. for take off. The beauty of this method is that is does away with having to use your brakes to correct the aircraft's path down the runway, reading this forum I see guys are falling over themselves to try and customize or fiddle with their brakes to make them work better, but you don't need to do this if you get a good run in the first place. I'm still using the paddle switch for my brakes (more realistic for the Mosquito) on my Warthog, which is not progressive, but it doesn't need to be,I get a good straight run every time, using the method described,so I don't need to correct my aircraft's path once I'm on the way. BTW glad this is working for you too
  17. Ok,one more time, this is my method that I took from 'Holbeach' and I have now added a little personal extra tip in red......it is very important that whilst holding the 4 Ib Boost against the brakes, that you wait 3-4 seconds until the RPM has 'settled' down(not jumping about on the dial).....then.....and only then, let go of the brakes and advance to 1800 Ib Boost. I hope this helps anyone still struggling with Mossie take offs. Method Nose down 2.0, right rudder 0.5 tick, aileron right 1 tick, 15 deg flap. 3000 RPM Advance throttles to 4 lb against the brakes.......hold on the brakes until RPM is settled (3-4 seconds), let go brakes, advance to 18 lb. boost. This will give a straight run without use of rudder or brakes until shortly after tail lift, when it will drift left. Compensate. Lift off at 120 mph. Wheels up, trim out nose up tendency. Flaps up, trim out nose down tendency. Stay level. build speed to 200 mph.
  18. Thanks very much for your insight Charly Owl,your one pilot I have come to respect over many years of sim flying, and I know your manual will be the icing on the cake,I'm glad you've been enjoying the many challenges the Mosquito has given you,I think we've all enjoyed the new modules little treats !! The take off for me personally took me a little time to master if I'm entirely honest, flying can be on the nervous side, what with the wild pitch, but I find it's one of the easiest warbirds to land, anyway I'm very much looking forward to your Mossie Manual.......I just know it'll be superb,as you've never let us down
  19. Is anybody selling these ?.....would dearly like to get my grubby mitts on one of these,I have'nt got a 3D printer so I'd have to buy the finished product.
  20. There has'nt been any changes to the TO Assist other than it was removed by one update and replaced by the next......0% is off(No Assist) and 100% is (Full Assist). I would advise if you need any assist to start with about 25% and move the slider upor down dependant on how easy/hard you find it......would'nt advise 100% as you will almost be just a passenger in your own aircraft ! See Thread :
  21. Bambino your an absolute star thanks very much for this vital information.....this is fantastic buddy, many thanks indeed
  22. Guys,I hope you can help,I'm after more livery/skin information on this particular F-14 A VF-114 from Desert Storm,I require BuNo,Pilot names etc,if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it as I need this info to be able to ask for a skin request, thanks. Link:
  23. Thanks very much Streakeagle very much appreciated buddy
  24. I'm looking for this F-14A VF-114 livery pictured here in Kuwait 1991 during Desert Storm,I have tried searching for more information on this aircraft but have not had much luck.I have also searched the skins that have been created so far but have not found it created. This would make a cracking skin, but I appreciate I need more information before I can ask for a skin request. If anyone can shed anymore light on this particular F-14 A I would be really grateful, thank you.
