well, wish lists aren't for discussions anyway, anyone just posts their favourite planes. So I would say a Katamari thread would be pretty ideal....

Meh. it has always been that way and I got used to them over the years I guess. I do find them annoying sometimes, but banning is too much. So no. I'd like to have them in a central place, merged together.

To be fair I think the bug could be mitigated by flying a bit differently (helping the boom operator by shifting a bit more to the right). I didn't test it thoroughly since it is a known bug, and I wanted to test something else: The boom operator once cleared me for contact while I was flying in pre-contact-position.... inverted (which is harder than I thought, but was fun to try). :D I don't have a track unfortunately, it was broken. But I laughed so hard. :D
-
Right! Thanks for the clarification.
-
Will it be FSX compatible at least? I don't have P3D and most likely I won't buy it. I'll keep an eye on the project though. I might try it for FSX, but... meh. Not really my sim anymore.

Good to hear it is being worked on. Just for laughs I tried refueling an F-15C last night. It didn't go too well. I haven't flown it in months but it still worked fine until I was in contact position (all lights green, reasonably steady) and the boom operator poked my plane until it exploded, killing both me and the tanker. It was pretty hilarious.

Actually.... no, not very interested. I'd prefer a more modern one.

We are getting increasingly offtopic here, but long story short, as far as I remember it because that was a long time ago: The aircraft manufacturer's (Northrop Grumman IIRC, not Douglas?) trademarks were used without permission. License fees were demanded and the whole thing went back and forth for a while between Ubisoft, Northrop Grumman and Maddox games. If you want to know more just google "Oleg Maddox Northrop Grumman license", I don't think this is a topic for these forums.
-
Yeah, I remember that from my days with the Heer. Pretty funny to call it "medium". :D
-
Yeah, that's why I said it might not be a problem. Of course it may be one. It is just a bit less likely, especially when it is not an iconic aircraft and/or not from a manufacturer that still exists.

I'd love to fly it. One of my favourite helicopters, it is frickin' huge and it can do lots of stuff and it looks cool and did I mention it is huge? Holy cow I love it. With a proper logistics system implemented I can imagine it would make a great DCSW module. I can still understand that many people want something more combat-oriented though.

Mouse cursor relative to cockpit. Proposed change
Aginor replied to Koriel's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Really some great ideas in this thread! I personally dislike the mouse cursor snapping very much (one thing I hate about BMS), but keeping the TrackIR (or VR device) steady with your head while clicking small buttons with your mouse or with a cursor fixed to your head can also be very annoying. At the moment I have the "TrackIR pause" function on the middle mouse button, and use that if I have to click more than one or two buttons, such as when inputting stuff into the CDU (although most of the time I use my touchscreens for that). That would be very disorienting in VR though, I guess. I'd love to have those ideas implemented and check which one is the least annoying in practice. -
I don't know whether that is actually true. Some things might be so different, you might have to start from scratch when doing the DCS version. Which means: No DCS version at all. I had hoped to get at least an AI only version for DCSW. We had SO many projects already that would have been able to produce an AI plane, but stopped because something was in the way for the player controlled version. In the end we get nothing at all. I had hoped that it would not be the case here. :( EDIT: Now that I wrote this post, I remembered I had even said that in this very thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2627903&postcount=42 :(

While I generally agree with that, I think it depends on the module. Some obscure WW2 plane might not be a problem licensing-wise, but you might have a hard time to get all the sources on everything. For a ~1970s plane you might have access to everything you like, but possible licensing issues. For a modern one you have the licensing issues, and also lack of access to material (just because it isn't there, or because of classified information). And then of course more complexity means more work, which might be a factor if resources are limited. So yeah, that's pretty much it. I also think one reason for people not understanding how licensing could be a problem are those who look at other, maybe older or less complex sims or games and say "hey, they got that license, so it cannot be that hard to get" but forget that a license and/or permission will become much harder to obtain if there is much simulation depth, like in DCSW.

Meh, a pretty uninteresting plane for me. I'd even say it is the least interesting of the century series for me. Perhaps tied last place with the F-102. Would I still buy it? Probably, for a few (like 10-15) bucks. But overall I think there are FAR more interesting planes for the guys to build.

Unfortunately I missed it at the Hahnweide (I couldn't stay the whole day with my family), but the Red Bull Blanix Team did something cool there:

USB powered LED Monitor for DCS WORLD
Aginor replied to Guram's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use two of these and I am pretty happy with them: http://www.lilliputuk.com/monitors/usb/um80/ I use Helios to get the A-10C's MFCDs there, including their buttons (I use the touch variant) and a collapsable CDU screen to make inputs. -
Good news, guys! Plexus has provided the Russian part of the forums with a sign of life a few days ago: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2895852&postcount=394 And Yandex translate claims he wrote: Plexus, pleeaaase post here as well! That kind of information is absolutely sufficient for me. I am glad the project isn't dead. :)

Thanks for the update! It has been some time, but your more regular updates during the last months help keeping the spirit up, at least for me. :) (Still hoping for a 2016 beta of either the CC version or the AFM, or both. :) )

Excuse me, I thought I did tell you I have no problems with refueling. I do not have a problem with it at all. It is still broken. And yes since the last version of DCSW the boom DOES cause damage to your plane at disconnect. It happens from time to time. Mostly if you are not in a good position, but sometimes even if you are. EDIT: Sometimes you won't even notice, but the log shows it after the mission. EDIT: sniped by your video post. Good example that shows how bad it is in DCSW. That guy is about as stable as I am. And do you see how the boom operator, you know, operates the boom? Especially at disconnect but also when connecting? That's how it should work! Also he doesn't point the boom toward the plane. He waits until the A-10 stabilizes, and then the boom operator moves the boom to the airplane, not vice versa. EDIT: Of course in DCSW many people don't fly like in real life, which causes situation that don't happen in real life and the sim has to handle those too. No problem. But in DCSW you can do maneuvering below that tanker that would cause every sane boom operator to immediately disconnect, which they don't in DCSW.
-
Yeah, I am looking forward to it SO much. :)
-
Oh please come on, SharpeXB, that's just semantics. How badly does someone have to do his job to say he isn't doing it at all? I can call it broken, or I can call it "an abysmally bad designed, completely unrealistic feature that is in desperate need to be reworked because it completely breaks immersion since it clearly doesn't work like in real life AND even needlessly makes the procedure harder" Take every tanker track or video ever made in DCSW and compare it to a real life video. "Broken" is the more friendly and shorter version and I use it since I am a friendly person, that's all. :) Can I tank? Hell yes, I can. I do it several times a week since years. Does it have to be perfect? No. What should happen to allow me to not call it utterly broken is _at least_ this: - You fly into pre-contact position and the boom stays where it is. - If you call "ready pre-contact" the boom operator tells you "hell no, dude" when you are in a dangerous or otherwise really bad position, instead of clearing you for contact. - The boom operator retracts the boom if you do something bad. and tells you what to do if necessary, such as "hey dude! fly lower! Where did you learn to refuel?" - when you are stabilized in the right position he moves the boom toward the receptacle and doesn't point at you with the boom all the time, keeping it one or two feet from your nose, which is really bad. - if you are connected and you start drifting away and not correcting, he tells you. - when you disconnect (either because you can't hold position or because your tanks are full) he moves the boom away from your aircraft Would that be a realistic way of refueling? Still not perfect by quite a margin. But much better than now. Now it is broken. Even though you can adjust with a bit of skill and practice. ;) EDIT: Also what would be nice: If you can't keep up because of ordnance or whatever, tell the tanker pilot. He may do something to help you, like flying a bit slower. EDIT: Added some smilies to show that I really don't mean anything bad to anyone.
