While that would indeed be somewhat awesome, I personally think that most of it would be a waste of time and resources. Only very few players would ever use it. BUT: Being able to control the carrier (to have it turn into the wind for example) and/or have an AI do that is vital for proper carrier ops. Ideally that would be handled by a Combined Arms player. And they should be provided with a basic set of instruments at least.

I think as a server-choice option, and while still allowing "manual mode" it would be ok, no problem with that. I would neither care nor use it myself, since I learned to cope with the bad tanker AI. But honestly: Before they spend any programming resources on this I'd just like ED to fix the tanker AI so that the boom operator finally starts doing his job and everyone that is able to join up and stay in a halfway decent formation with the tanker can refuel.

During the Falklands war (when ground clutter was much more of a problem compared to now) flying low was a very good way to hide from enemy radar. Flying low was also popular with the Iraqis during Desert Storm IIRC. They used terrain masking to prevent detection to a certain degree. And then of course flying low as an evasion maneuver, that's pretty much in every textbook. Again Desert Storm has some examples of MiGs escaping despite AWACS and all that stuff, by flying very low. EDIT: But basically what Fire said: If you have air superiority you tend to use your radar more.

I think it is also worth to mention that file size does not grow linear with map size. Especially when you re-use assets like 3D models and textures.

I am not sure about that throttle position, I can't compare with my controls indicator because I somehow damaged its position in the lua file when I added my third and fourth screen... But judging by the position relative to the screws on the panel it looks like you are in idle. No. You can pull them over the idle/cutoff detent any time as long as your throttle is in idle. I just tried it in a mission myself. I wonder if it could be a bug in the mission. Go ahead and try any quickstart mission or one you created yourself with just one A-10C (player). EDIT: Huh. I actually tried it myself in that exact same mission and it works.

I am pretty sure those are still placeholder textures. I like the cockpit overall though.

Ok, then the next two things to try: - make sure your axis settings allow to pull the throttle back. You can bring up the controls indicator (RCntrl+Enter) to check. If you notice you can't move the throttle indicator back to zero (you can also check if the throttle in the virtual cockpit moves all the way back but the controls indicator shows it better) - Check that the keys are assigned correctly for the A-10C. You can do that by just going into the controls menu, choose "A-10C Sim" and press those key combos. It should switch to the correct entries. If those fail, please post a track and we'll look into it. :)

nice one, thanks for the update!

I hope it isn't a bad sign that Plexus' last post was in June, the last facebook update was in April, and their website wasn't updated in a long time either. I hope this project is still progressing, and they will surprise us with something cool soon.

Hi and welcome to the forums! :) Check your axis settings, that might be a reason. Shutting down the engines only works when the throttles are in idle. The feature is working as intended as far as I can tell, I just tested it.

I watched the show on YT. More often than normal I guess. I like it. -
Thanks for the update!

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotton that cleanup option and not used it for ages. I got almost 6GB on my SSD back. :) -
I just tried it a few times and can't reproduce your issue. Everything looks normal. Please post a short track.

If it ain't public, it ain't good.

I wonder if cdpKobra can maybe include that in the VSN AdA mod, it has a 2000D. I'll ask him.

I think everyone will agree that the weather system needs another overhaul, both in graphics and in gameplay. They said they are working on it.

If you want a quick test done with the G940 just PM me. ;)

Yeah, that would be more fun I guess. I imagine the yelling of the gunners when attackers arrive. That would surely be some action! Although having just one bomber in a mission will probably not feel very immersive. I'd more aim for 3-4 people in one bomber, perhaps the navigator and the gunners hopping between the gunner seats to defend the plane or something like that. Then you could at least have 3-4 human-controlled bombers flying in formation, which would make it a bit less boring for the pilots.
-
Isn't that solved by now? I thought it was the last time I refueled.
-
Rod to Rod action.... hmmmmmm ;) :D Seriously, why? Just use the S-3, or the Il-78, or even the modded KC-135FR from the AdA mod. Anyway: Yes, that you can even refuel there is the bug. As for your original question: I have no clue. But you can do that in real life I think. Not the refueling with the wrong connector, but staying connected and tanking as much as you burn.

Yeah, sorry @Astrix_au, but that is not nearly the level DCS stands for. When people in this community say "you cannot simulate it in DCS" they mean that it isn't possible in the quality we would have to be aiming for, concerning the systems model and flight model. EDIT: Look at the F-22 in Jane's USAF. Back then it was pretty cool, but compared to DCSW, even to the FC3 planes, it was pretty lame. And welcome to the forums! :)

Sounds good!

I expect that to happen once the Normandy map is here. And not only the B-17 but a decent amount of AI planes for all sides. Player-controlled.... meh. I guess some people would like it, but for me it is rather uninteresting, except as a target or something to escort. Imagine a server with 32 people, of which 30 sit in the three B-17 bombers, one is an escorting Mustang, and one is an attacking Bf-109. Not fun. ;)
