Also, people keep bickering about weapons and sensors and flightmodel etc. But can we just for a moment appreciate what a SEXY jet the MiG-29 is? For me it's the most beauiful fighter jet ever designed, those lines and curves. The Tomcat is a close second but man, dem curvez:

Ecuador? I thought it was the Cuban team doing the Flogger?

Yep, the MiG-21 has like a million switches and dials in the cockpit but they are THERE, you can see them, what they are doing etc. Return to it after 6 months or something, not a problem. Try the same with the F16 for example, not a chance.

It's a late 80's early 90's plane right? Just throw in some techno beats with som Chinese flair and you're set. It's gotta be fitting to the plane, nationality and time period imo. Most other modules have pretty fitting soundtracks and I reckon the Phantom is gonna have a kick*ss soundtrack.

Looks fast.

So judging by early renders, it looks like we are getting the, very rudimentary, SPO-10 RWR for the Mig-23? Same as the one in the MIg-21bis?

64 GB RAM is not enough anymore?
addman replied to Steel Jaw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, it shouldn't be THAT GPU/VRAM intensive, I mean I get that it needs a lot of CPU and memory but sitting 30k feet up in the sky in the very low-res MiG-21 cockpit for example. It shouldn't use that much VRAM. There are games with A LOT more detailed textures and extremely detailed and cluttered environments that use less resources than DCS. -
Yeah, won't be a great dogfighter but with it's crazy good speed and acceleration it will be perfect for ambush and hit and run attacks. So for a seasoned player it will be quite potent I recon but for novices it might be a nasty surprise if they try to get in to turn n burn fights.

And I think it was originally supposed to be released sometime in 2012 actuallybut the original developer jumped ship iirc.

At least a Lybian since they have been in actual air conflict with eachother.

Please baby Jebus give us a Vietnam map so we can have a proper sandbox for the MiG-17 and the F-4.

Yeah this is gonna be great! Only thing I miss are air-to-air missiles but I guess the fresco didn't carry those?

We have to remember though, that the SE will be released in an early access state, in other words UNFINISHED. I'm afraid there will be a lot of coding work for fixing bugs and adding unfinished stuff on the SE long after it's been released. This doesn't mean that the coders can't work on the MiG-23 at the same time but they will hardly work 100% on it either.

I only tried with the Jeff a couple of times but lost interest pretty quickly

Yeah, it's really satisfying, almost gave up at one point

Oh boy was it hard but after a looooong time trailing the tanker, bobbing up and down and side to side I managed to fully refuel the jet. In the end the following things helped the most. 1. Adjust RPM so you match exactly the tanker speed then micro-adjust accordingly when connected 2. Try not to overcompensate movements so you don't end up with PIO, small movements on the stick 3. Don't aim for the basket! aim for the wing/refuelingthingie from which the basket/fuelline extends 4. Don't give up! It took me like half an hour before I managed to connect properly Love the module Aerges! keep it coming!

Phantom vs MiG-23 is going to be really interesting.

Found this at the Russian-speaking forums: Posted this monday. Strike Eagle in all glory but these screenshots are what gets me going. Soviet 60s/70s tech at it's "finest".

This years, hopefully, shopping list: Sinai map, F-4 Phantom II and then any 2-3rd gen coldwar fighter/strike aircraft that may be released.

I think it's worth pointing out. Also remember, it's not even an early access release so far from finished product.
