Can we bring those “what if" concept plane into reality?
upyr1 replied to Ddg1500's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This sounds like a challenge for the community modders. There are very few prototypes and what-if which I think would meet ED's requirements to become official mods. For example the Super Tomcat 21, never went beyond a paper proposal. However the F-20 or F-111B at least made it to the prototype stage and the avionics of at least one of the two were used in a different plane so there might be enough data. The next issue is if there is desire -
Why not have a default profile which DCS will automatically populate controls from?
-
In the past I have posted that ED needs to improve the system. The first step would be to implement two new profiles "common helicopter" and "common plane" this would add the most common controls for the different modules pitch, yaw, roll, right throttle, left throttle, toe brakes, brake lever, target cursor, trigger weapon release. Though it might even make sense to further divide the profiles into (possibly user defined) control families.
-
Not if ED implements a version test. If the feature gets implemented unless it is already there DCS would need to add a line like "Created with DCS ver X" then when DCS looks at the profiles for the first time it would automatically convert them if the tag isn't there and add the "created by DCS updated". There is a lot a computer program can do if you tell it to do it

Regional voices for comms based on object country
upyr1 replied to mattjonesgr9's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'd love to have more voices as well as the option to do voice mods -
I know there a few times when I just want a mission with some heavy machine guns forming part of an ambushing force.

As I said you use mods at your own risk. There's a big difference between saying "ED doesn't want mods" and saying "users use mods at their own risk". The simple fact ED provides information about modding DCS and even has a section on the forum about modding DCS https://forum.dcs.world/forum/69-dcs-modding/ Indicates that ED expects to see the community mod DCS. However as I said before, you use a mod at your own risk as they won't provide debugging support to the mod as that would be the responsibility of the mod developer. As it can be hard to get accurate information for modern red for we're left with export planes like the JF-17 and the Peace Pearl prototype and 1980s models like the Fulcrum A as being the only official flyable options. The bar is lower for AI since we don't need the interface I'd be shocked if this goes any place
-
users can and do mod DCS, it's just a use at your own risk situation. The issue is simple, ED won't put something in DCS without enough information and it's hard to get up-to-date information on RedFor equipment.

Thar bar needs to be added ASAP

DCS Vietnam Era Aircraft Discussion. Have it, Coming, Mods, Want It

It's also vital to have more period assest and not just modules. -
If we ever see an F-111B I think it would be a community module.

upyr1 replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The only problem I see with my suggestion of adding the EA-3 and EB-66 is that we need ED to work on a system for escort/stand-off jamming. -
There are only two options here AI or mods.

Any chance that Jester could learn how to do the FAC mission?

You should see the southern lights in the falklands https://www.originaltravel.co.uk/travel-blog/where-to-see-the-southern-lights

The wishlist is a book called "Jane's All the World's Aircraft" The A-37 would be a great addition at least as AI. I'm not saying no to a flyable module I'm just saying it would be nice to add to the list of Vietnam era aircraft

I'd also add the F-111 to the list as well. Some AI assets I'd add to the list EC-121 Warning Star (Vietnam-era AWACS) EKA-3 Skywarior (at least the carrier version) EB-66 Destroyer B-52D -------------------------------------------------------- We also need a long list of ground and naval units. -
That's why I wouldn't expect anything but a community mod
-
Same. I know really not that interest in the B. I probably wouldn't buy it as a stand alone module but if you had a decent mod I would download it. Though I would have no complaints if someone included the B as part of an F-111 module. I would for obvious reasons expect it to work like a blend of the F-111A and F-14A. If we get an F-111 module I hope it's Heatblur.
-
Now to get things back on topic, if there is enough information about the F-111B to do a module and let's say Heatblur started work on the F-111, would you have any interest in the F-111B?
-
There were 7 F-111Bs and some of the (planned) systems got recycled into the F-14A. I don't know what manuals are available for the Peace Pearl but I do think ED may have made an exception for it, since its hard to get 4th gen RedFor. I'll state that I posted this in the chit-chat opposed to the wishlist becuse I honestly don't the F-111B would be possible outside of a community module.
-
Better EW would be awesome
-
Thanks, I knew the radar was going to be the same as were the engines. I posted a thread about the F-111B here as well Due to the fact the F-111B was still in development when the program was canceled, there might not be any manuals available. However even if there is plenty of documentation there would still be the question if the community would even be interested in the F-111B? I'll state despite the fact I posted both threads, I honestly don't expect to see an F-111B outside of a community module. If it were possible to get the F-111B officially I don't think I would be inclined to purchase it though I wouldn't complain if it were part of an F-111 module but I wouldn't expect it to happen.
-
the conversation is only pointless because you missed the points. The points are the following. I wonder if there is interest I wonder if there is enough information I asked you about the manual because without the manual anything we say is pure speculation and not enough information for a module. I honestly I wouldn't be shocked if there's not enough information for an F-111B.
-
I always thought the F-14A recycled most if not all of the F-111B's avionics. So at the minimum you would be looking at a new flight model and cockpit. The point to my statement isn't to say that I think it would be easy but to focus what the more important issue which is whether or not the community wants the F-111B ? Also do you know what documents are available I don't
