  1. I still belive there is something off about the way the MiG-21 (or maybe DCS) handles wind. The attached screenshot is from the quick "Take Off" mission.
  2. No I think they are removed to fit the bomb.
  3. The developer claims these lights will function properly in DCS 2.0, right now I believe they are disabled due to game engine limitations.
  4. We had the same problem for me and another player yesterday. We did as mentioned in this thread, switched to spec. and back again which solved it.
  5. Yep, the "450 Liter" light saved me once from this. Now I always remove and then add new tanks when rearming.
  6. Probably.
  7. He didn't see it coming, just like me when locked and fired upon in my 21.
  8. Some closed captions would be nice even though the visuals were very informative.
  9. If you want us to know that... Then maybe you should avoid sentences like... In regards to... It made me unsure which side you were on here :) Now back to the IFR topic.
  10. Increased drag enables steeper descent angels, flaps increase drag.
  11. I haven't tried it myself but have a look in this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89226
  12. Well I completely forgot about that...but I have seen it now! Good track keeping! Maybe you should trim a bit more, and also do it in anticipation of flaps and gears. If you fly outbound at say 300 kts for 2 minutes at 3000 feet, you can be pretty sure to end up way low very early if you fly inbound at <200 kts with descent rate of 1000ft/min. If you instead fly outbound for 2 minutes at 200 kts and inbound at 160 kts, 1000 fpm should have you over the beacon closer to 500 feet. This is just shooting from the hip but it gives you a nicer descent profile :) IIRC the compass itself seems to give a correct indication regardless how the rose is set. If you look carefully at the top of the radio compass, there is actually a small inverted triangle there to aling with...though it's hard to see. Hmm...in some aircraft this happens due to increased downwash on the tailplane, but since the stabilator is located above the wing this is probably not the case here. Could it be due to wing sweep? Effte? <- a member on this forum who usually knows too much about these kind of things.
  13. And they move super fast.
  14. I use the F10 map extensively, without showing any icons on it. Terrain (press the "alt" button in top right corner), water, towns, roads, power lines are all there and very useful for reference. The key to success is to constantly keep track of where you are and always have back up reference, a distinct terrain feature for your current location. If you end up in a dogfight and have to escape it is not really the perfect moment to press F10 in order to determine your current exact location, that's when it's nice to have a general bearing in your head and also something like a hill or a lake to aim for. Once you're out of danger you can climb up and check your bearings from an RSBN, say the needle point towards the station with a bearing of 090 and the DME says 120. Now pull up your F10 map and use the ruler, draw a line FROM the station towards 270 degrees and a distance of 120 km...that's where you are! Planning with waypoints using courses and bearing can also be helpful, even more so if you do a rough time calculation for each leg.
  15. I think it's the maximum landing weight restricting you, check the manual. With no stores you're not supposed to land with more than 700 liters in the internal tank, it's very limiting!
  16. He's probably slacking off right now, not working with this product at all! ...
  17. True False
  18. I found the sight to be inop when you turn the standby inverter (IIRC) on, it's a red switch to the left.
  19. I think most of us have put our faith to EDGE/DCS 2.0, to help us solve this spotting issue. Some say there is an issue some say there is none because it's realistic this way. I'm sorry to say that I don't think there are any modifications around to improve visibility in regards to targets, airborne or ground vehicles, without resorting labels. But you might wanna give this one a try, https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/270020/ It replaces the standard labels with a dot, though I've only tried it for a short while I think it could be a worthy compromise. I'm sure someone will create a mod with a clean wind shield for the MiG-21, just give it a few more weeks.
  20. That's not very specific, do you mean through the cockpit or do you mean the distance at which objects become visible? If the later, aircraft or ground objects?
  21. I had one of my tires burst or at least get damaged somehow during rollout twice after landing, even when making a smooth touchdown (around 350-320km/h) and at the time of failure I was below 300km/h. Though I suspect this could be a way of simulating overweight landings since I had slightly more than 1000 liters of fuel on both occasion.
  22. There is probably some sort of squelch feature.
  23. I've been flying in and out of Mozdok quite a lot and I have not seen any of what you are talking about. The PRMG receiver seems to lose contact very quickly when you leave the correct angles on approach.
  24. How? What about mountains?
  25. Find the proper control switch for launching missiles in the controls menu, assign it to your joystick and you should be fine! I don't know the name of that particular switch but have a look in the manual and you should find it.
